This is a very difficult film about a very difficult person. Geronimo was not “good” in the ordinary sense of the word. Today he would have been called a terrorist or a murderer, and he didn’t want to be what the story of his life made him become. But his name is and still is known to those who remember freedom fighters.
The film is told from the perspective of a young officer taking part in several attempts (some of them successful) to catch Geronimo and his warriors. Very often, it is the respect of opponents, not only associates, that can be the best compliment for a historical warrior. This movie is such a compliment.
