Great movie. : I am very glad that at this age I can understand the background and wrapper of this film. Determinism, spirit, freedom, justice - all this plays on the special fiber of my Soul now and allows you to absorb the ideas of cinema. :. It’s probably good to be smart and well-read as a Human being like me, but the main thing is to be able to feel and drag all emotions through yourself. François Leterrier is some incomparable acting work. It feels like working on yourself before filming. Thank you very much, François. I'm impressed. I recommend it. :
If there is an all-knowing being (God), then it is impossible to have free will, because that being will know what you want to do, which means you cannot make a decision because it has already been made before you.
William Newcomer

If there really is an all-encompassing physical theory that governs all things, it must be assumed that it determines our actions. However, it does so in such a way that its consequences cannot be anticipated for an organism as complex as a human being, and it also involves a certain element of randomness corresponding to quantum mechanical effects. This suggests that our declarations of man’s free will stem from the inability to predict what he will do. However, if a person leaves in a spaceship and returns earlier than they left, we can predict what they will do, as that will be part of recorded history. Thus, in such a situation, the time traveler would have no free will in any sense.
Leonard Mlodinow, Stephen Hawking, from The Shortest History of Time:

A gramophone record, on which angelic singing is imprinted, is morally no better than the one on which the beastly roar is recorded. From the point of view of determinism, those who wanted and could become better were doomed in advance, and in the same way the fate of those who wanted and could become better was predetermined, and in the same way the fate of those who wanted, but could not - or did not even try - to want was predetermined. The conclusion is false; the struggle sounds recorded on the record are not at all real.
Stanislav Lem, from The Voice of the Lord:

Nobody knows the future. And least of all, those who believe in historical determinism. After them come spies and journalists.
Joseph Brodsky, from the book "Collection copy":

If you take a stable pendulum and rock it, then the further course of events can be clearly predicted: the cargo will return to a state with a minimum of fluctuations, that is, to a state of rest. If the cargo is at the top point, then in principle it is impossible to predict whether it will fall to the right or left. So in one case the situation is predictable in principle, and in the other it is not, and it is in this point that the problem of determinism arises in full growth. With small fluctuations, the pendulum is a deterministic object, and we know exactly what is going to happen. On the contrary, the problems associated with a pendulum turned upside down contain ideas about a non-deterministic object.
Ilya Romanovich Prigozhin, from the book "Questions of Philosophy" :

It must be emphasized that nature and its laws are enclosed in a repetitive cycle; statistical determinism is not destroyed by the fact that each part, each particle, can decide for itself whether or not to make some motion within its orbit.
Adin Steinsalz, from The Creative Word :

But the rational world, with its laws, determinism and causal connections, is a secondary world, not a primary one; it is the product of rationalization, it is revealed to a secondary, rationalized consciousness.
Berdyaev N. A., Self-knowledge, 1949:

Against objective teleology arises not only determinism, the causal explanation of natural phenomena, but also freedom.
Berdyaev N. A., On Slavery and Human Freedom, 1939 :

Against this individualism, even elementary scientific sociology is right, which is able to touch the social body, cognizing the power of social cohesion and heredity from different sides and using different methods, comprehending the nature of social determinism in its statics and dynamics.
Bulgakov S.N., The light is not evening. Contemplation and Contemplation, 1917 :

I am ready to recognize myself as a romantic by these features: the primacy of the subject over the object, resistance to determinism of the finite and the striving for the infinite, disbelief in the achievement of perfection in the final, intuition against discourse, anti-intellectualism and understanding of knowledge as an act of the whole spirit, the exaltation of creativity in human life, hostility to normativism and legalism, the opposition of the personal, individual power of the general.
Berdyaev N. A., Self-knowledge, 1949:

O wretched spirit, thou hast intermarried with darkness,
The cruel lives of others are poisoned by you,
Your soul is full of sins and stench.
You will fall forever into the depths of hell!
Hell Girl / Jigoku shôjo
Enma Ai:

Only in novels there is a cheap phrase that the spirit cannot be broken. I have known good people who could only do one thing: howl like beasts. Almost any resistance can be broken. It only takes enough time and time.
Erich Maria Remark
The spark of life
Five hundred and nine:

“Eternal God, who is gathered together in unity,” he read in a gentle singing voice, “and the union of love that is indestructible for them; blessed Isaac and Rebekah, I have shown the heirs of your promise: Bless your servants, Constantine, Catherine, and I instruct you in every good work. For merciful and human-loving God is, and we send glory to You, to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy Spirit, now and forever and ever. “A-Amen,” an invisible chorus once again poured into the air.
Tolstoy L. N., Anna Karenina, 1877:

This epoch of rebirth, with people who have not received a single penny as a legacy, who have not taken a single good covenant as a guide, must truly be considered one of the great poetic epochs of our history. What attracted these separatists but a sense of goodness and justice? Who led them? Who at least temporarily suppressed in them the spirit of self-love, double-heartedness and venality that has enslaved the nation?
Leskov N. S., Nekuda, 1864

Obedience, fasting, and prayer are even laughed at, and yet only in them lies the path to real, true freedom: I cut off unnecessary and unnecessary needs from myself, humble and proud my will with humility and plagued by obedience, and achieve by them, with the help of God, freedom of the spirit, and with it spiritual joy!
Dostoevsky F.M., Brothers Karamazov, 1880
... That mad arbitrariness of freedom will bind
That love by forgiveness will bind sin,
What the victory of thought by the mortal path will show
To a festive celebration for all...
Yakov Petrovich Polonsky :

Instead of a single trajectory, we are given a set, and accordingly we are doomed to choose ourselves. Unthinkable premise! To live is to be condemned to freedom forever, to decide forever what you will become in this world. And decide without fatigue and without respite. Even if we give ourselves hopelessly to chance, we make a decision not to decide.

Jose Ortega y Gasset

- Was it worth it? Two weeks in a hole?
- It's the easiest time. .
- Bullshit! It's not easy in a hole. There's a week going on like a year. That's right.
- Mr. Mozart was with me.
- Are you allowed to bring a record player?
- He was here (pointing to the head) and here (pointing to the heart). The beauty of the music, you can't take it away. Does music not work that way on you?
- Well, I used to play harmonica when I was young. Then I lost interest. It's no use here.
- It's a big deal. You need this to remember. . .
- Remember?
- Do not forget that there are places in the world that are not carved out of stone. That there is something in you that cannot be reached. Something untouched. It's just yours. You know? And no one else. Just yours.
- What are you talking about?
- Hope. .
