Despite the fact that it was drawn in the distant 69th year, the film does not look outdated. His style seems simple by today’s standards, but the plot may well captivate the unassuming little viewer, and some moments look tense and frightening.
However, if we discard these two curious facts, then before us is an ordinary children's cartoon. It is children’s, designed for primary school age, when the child has not yet developed critical thinking, and he does not know how to ask unnecessary questions what is happening on the screen. And there is something to ask, because the logic of this happening is limp on both legs. Despite the seriousness with which the events are demonstrated, there are many childishly stupid moments and cliches in the plot, which are now bred in children's animated series of not the best quality. Therefore, adults should watch it without expecting a masterpiece from it.
However, negative emotions when watching it does not cause, and as a children's cartoon "Ghost Ship" is good. The characters in it are quite standard - a brave boy-Marty-Stu, who does everything, an evil villain with a typical villainous motivation, etc. Although, perhaps, they can be called standard from the height of this century, and in those days when there was no Internet and the dominance of superheroes (especially in the USSR), they did not seem so. The plot is able to hook even an adult, although sometimes you want to laugh from absurdity in it. But for the children it will be just right. The atmosphere is beyond praise.
As a result, the film is definitely worth watching for children, and in question for adults. If there is an interest in what is behind the anime, Soviet censorship considered worthy of showing on screens, then it is worth watching it. But if there is no such interest, it is better to spend time on something else.
