Non-childish passions Before watching this movie, I read a quarter of the book. And, it should be noted, I expected a good film in the style of “The Chronicles of Narnia”, “Harry Potter”, perhaps even “Lord of the Rings”. But then I saw a picture that made a rather depressing impression on me.
Plot. I thought New Line Cinema was going to make a very meaningful film. But the part I had already read by then had been terribly shortened and put down in literally 20 minutes. In general, it is very similar to all the films I mentioned. The disadvantage of this film, rather, is that it is not remembered from a bunch of others.
Quality. I believe that the work on special effects was successful, only in the scene of a large-scale battle it turned out somehow slurred and washed away. The same can be said about the operator. Sometimes great shots, but there are five, in my opinion, unacceptable. The music was quite heroic and matched the setting, but did not catch on.
Conclusion: a solid average, nothing more. But out of great respect and condolences from New Line Cinema, I think it's worth going!
7 out of 10.
