The thirst for speed in square It’s no secret that video games are made for money. That’s why I’ve never liked film adaptations of games, as I believe that not every game shines with a clever plot worthy of transferring to the big screens. And those games that have a really smart and exciting plot (examples
The Last of Us and
Heavy Rain) are already self-sufficient and they do not need a screen adaptation. And how interesting a movie could turn out based on a game in which there was never a clear plot. Because the game is about cool cars. Although, if based on the game
"Battleship" and the designer
LEGO manage to produce films ...
I played Need for Speed games as a kid. I've never been a big fan. Movies about racing and cars (for example, the series "Fast and Furious") I also never liked. What did I do in the movie Need for Speed? A thirst for speed"? Exactly - nothing! I didn’t expect the movie and was dragged to the movies by friends.
Little-known director
Scott Waugh, who directed the action movie
"Act of Valor" (Law of Valor) took up the production of a film based on a game in which the plot never played an important role. Could there have been anything worthwhile? My answer is amazing, but yes!
"Need for Speed" is not a masterpiece. It will not be a classic of world cinema. But it's a great road-movie with beautiful cars, landscapes and girls. Racing in the film is exciting and delightful. In many scenes, the first-person view makes it feel like you're driving yourself. Unlike “Fast and Furious”, which was once a film about racing, and now has rolled into an action movie and they ride cars there only for a tick, in the film Need for Speed, heroes practically do not get out of the most beautiful cars. It seems that the director is a fan of the series of games, because there is plenty of fan service for fans of the games in the series. Especially cool looks the final track at the end of the film from
NFS: Hot Pursuit And the scene in the canyon with the helicopter is just gorgeous. Thanks to the beautiful 3D, which in the film to the place, I wanted to squeeze into the chair with fear and admiration. In the cinema during this scene there was an admiring hum of voices.
Now a little bit about the actors who are not the forte. The main star of the film is Aaron Paul, who became famous for his role as Pinkman in Breaking Bad. Many people say that Paul is annoying in the movie. I didn't think so. He does not show anything outstanding, but it was unexpectedly nice to see him in a different role than his role in the series “Breaking Bad”. The rest of the actors are little known, but at the same time no one is annoying and everyone normally plays his role. Also in the film there is the “father of Tony Stark”
Dominic Cooper in the role of a major-bad and
Imogen Poots in the role of... well... as the girlfriend of the main character. The main advantage in the cast of the film is Michael Keaton, who is catastrophically small in the film, but every scene with him pleases.
To sum up: a great film about beautiful races, in which the plot is not at all brilliant, but can entertain you for two hours.
