I read that the idea of the film to the director, he is also a screenwriter, was suggested by Juliette Binoche herself, who is more familiar than anyone else with the situation when the age of the actress makes you reconsider her attitude to herself and the roles she performs. I will not retell the plot, this is a rather thinly filmed film, where the real dialogues of the main character with her assistant, who was perfectly played by Kristen Stewart, almost imperceptibly turn into the dialogues of the play, in which, according to the director's plan, Maria Enders should play an age role, but the difficulty for her lies not only in the age of the heroine, but also in the fact that once in her youth her career began with this play, in which she played the role of a young heroine at the age of 18. Beautiful duet Binoche and Stuart, with interest listen to their dialogue, which reflects the difference in the worldviews of the heroines, and the young heroine demonstrates fully formed views. This also includes the third heroine - the one who now has to play the role of a young heroine in the play. I liked the movie.
I thought that in a situation similar to the one described in the film, there was Michael Kane - in 1972 he played with Laurence Olivier in the film J.L. Mankiewicz, called in the Russian box office "Game through" / Sleuth, playing a young hero, and in 2007 he played in the re-screening of this play Sleuth / Sleuth, shot by Kenneth Branagh, already the role of the older hero, the young played by Jude Law.
