"Beaver to scold!" at one time was madly pleased - a non-stupid comedy, funny and with a multi-layered semantic content: there is the problem of tolerance to the cultural characteristics of different regions, and the problem of mutual understanding between relatives, and ridiculing stereotypes. Already
"Customs gives good" not so pleased: the film is also funny, witty, but radical nationalism is some sad topic for jokes.
And the new film is probably even weaker. It would seem that such a fertile theme for comedy is hypochondria. It could be a kind and funny film about overcoming despondency and phobias, which, probably, even someone would help to recover from the obsessive desire to look for symptoms of terrible diseases. And indeed, the first half of the film, where we meet the main character and his friend, and at the same time the family of a friend, is beyond praise. It's a true French comedy, as it should be.
But that's when all this "Cherkistan suffering" began. War, politics – all this is enough in the media, and I don’t want it, either seriously or jokingly. Moreover, this parody of the Slavic country, and even for some reason with some pseudo-Eastern name, looked stupid. I know it’s a mockery of stereotypes, but given the international situation, it’s better to joke more tactfully about such sensitive topics. All this seemed inappropriate to me, especially since the film deviated from the main theme irrevocably, and the logic of the plot began to suffer, even by the standards of comedy (police behavior, for example). It’s a shame, because the beginning was really funny and interesting.
Summary: a funny and witty story of a hypochondriac, in the middle, alas, mutating into a rather ridiculous adventure comedy. Of course, there are very good jokes, and the actors play at the level (besides Dani Boone, who played the main role, Cad Merad is very good as the doctor Dmitry Zvenka, a friend of the main character), but Boone has made better films. If you want a typical French comedy, you can watch “Love from All Diseases”, but do not expect any revelations from this picture.
