A typical movie in the genre of road comedy. Of course, this is not immediately clear, but closer to the middle you can clearly see what John Hughes wants to do from his brainchild. Heroes go on the road, get into all sorts of different adventures: they are robbed in a hotel, their car burns down, then it starts somehow. It’s a shame that we didn’t have a bar, as is usually the case in movies like this, and that’s often the most interesting part of the movie, but we didn’t get it in. But, nevertheless, all the signs of this genre on the face. This is not the best film in this genre, but it happens to be so boring that it is sickening to watch, and the chickpeas were even funny in places, so you can basically watch once, at least because of the actors.
Steve Martin and John Candy. I’m sure everyone has heard of Steve Martin, but I’m sure not many people know about John Candy. That's not surprising. He plays by and large in action movies, sometimes policemen, often his images are not bad, but mostly the whole impression is spoiled by films. Steve Martin was not so famous at the time, there was not yet his famous role in a duet with Michael Kane, so it was one of his first big films, or rather his first lesser-known film. In some moments he did well, but mostly he wasn’t the Steve Martin I know who is considered one of my favorite actors.
It's an average road comedy. To watch is not to look... Of course, a difficult question, but if you do not watch, you will not lose much, and if you watch, then at least there will be a pleasant residue on the soul, but by and large, the film is boring. We could make the story more interesting, for example, to make a film somewhere near the sea and call it “Airplanes, trains, ships and cars”, then I think it would be more interesting, but maybe it would be too much.
