The cartoon is clearly created in isolation from the American experience. It may seem that this is a plus, they did not follow Disney patterns, showed something new. But in fact, all this non-standardity causes bewilderment and disappointment, because the authors clearly did not know and did not understand how to create stories. For example, the points that are emphasized in the plot must be entered in advance into the viewer’s field of attention. Here, for example, the hero rebels against the tradition of eating an ancestor, but the viewer just learned that she was in the company of these Pithecanthropes at all. The hero did not argue in advance that he wanted to cover up such a thing, his action is absolutely sudden, the viewer does not feel anything about it. Or acquaintance with a female - the hero did not look at her in advance, the viewer did not empathize with his love, she appeared just like that, in a hurricane, the hero immediately began to act and almost immediately achieved it. What is the value of this event? He might as well have been married from the beginning, or not looking for anyone at all, because his relationship didn’t create a story. Lucy is expecting a child, but he does not have time to be born before the end of the film. Why do you want him in the story? They decide to name him after the hero’s friend, but this friend didn’t die or do anything important to the plot – what’s the point of this continuity? And that's pretty much everything. There are only a couple of strong scenes: the king of the tree is almost alone on this tree and looks enviously at the people who are happy without him. But that should be every scene, every story branch, and it’s not. Here plot important actions are sometimes made by third-plan characters, for example, a witch was exposed by some kid, about whom we know nothing. There are two similar advisor characters in the film, but it is not used in any way, nothing follows from it. Good is not rewarded, evil is not punished, betrayal is not exposed – there is no intrigue. Humor must be somewhere, it is obvious that the authors meant it, but for the whole film I did not laugh. Worst of all, the authors tried to create a personal story and show their French approach, but did not even know that the work needed to do story arcs. It's totally unprofessional.
