The first film in which Frank Mancusov, known from the script for the film “Bayway Orfevre, 36” / 36 Quai des Orfèvres, acted as a director, is “Contre-enquête”, 2007. Mancuso himself served in the police for 20 years, so it is clear why he makes films on this topic. This film attracted me by the fact that Jean Dujardin starred there. Police officer Richard Malinowski (Jean Dujardin) was called out of the house on a weekend to rescue his arrested informant. He was going to ride a bike with his 10-year-old daughter Emily, who took offense at him and went into the woods to his friend, with whom he also quarreled, and after a while she was found raped and murdered. Richard's colleagues soon arrested suspect Daniel Ekman (Laurent Luke), who initially denied his guilt, then confessed and was jailed for 30 years. Richard almost killed him at first, but of course he was held back. Sitting in prison, Ekman begins his epic on release from prison. First, he writes a full confession, which he hides in his cell, and then begins to write letters to Richard, in which he tries to prove that he is not guilty. Richard initially does not respond to these emails, but one day hears a radio report that a child serial killer has been arrested. And then he has a plan, the details of which we do not see at first, but by the end we begin to understand what it was and see how he carries out his plan. I will not tell you so as not to reveal the intrigue. If anyone is interested, you can watch, you can not say that the film is outstanding, but it is not bad for its segment.
