“The consequences of abuse are devastating and far-reaching. Domestic violence speaks many languages, has many colors, and exists in many different communities. "(c)
It turned out a chamber author's film with simple, but clever plot moves. To my taste, the perfect ratio of psychological drama with suspense lacks the emotional colors associated with depression. And it lacks the freshness of the director’s view of the problem of victim and rapist, as accurately described in Abrahamson’s Room, or more precisely in terms of semantic load – the color scheme – as in Wyler’s 1965 Collector.
But the film is a one-time viewing. It provides food for thought.
“One cannot, without health consequences, show oneself day after day contrary to what one feels; crucify oneself before what one does not love, rejoice in what brings misfortune. Our nervous system is not an empty sound, not a fiction. It is a fibrous physical body. Our soul takes up space and fits into us like teeth in our mouths. It cannot be raped with impunity.” (c) Boris Pasternak as Doctor Zhivago.
I highly recommend it.😎
