Diamonds are forever Four girlfriends accidentally find themselves near a place where one gang steals diamonds, and are involved in the next three days associated with the kidnapping, but do not rush to break their own plans and each lives these 3 days in their own way. And although diamonds are always friends of girls and objects of their adoration, but here everything that could lead to a criminal thriller or an interesting action game plays a little important plot role, acting not even as a background, but as additional plot support in the melodrama.
So, there are 4 different stories, four main characters, and we follow each one about a quarter of the movie, tying it all together. You unravel the whole simple story long before the finale, although the first of the stories is a complexly connected precipitous nonsense, and they do not rush to supplement it too much, focusing more on the private life of each heroine. Forming a parody of “Sex and the City” or its prequel, glamorous youth in a very politically correct set of characters tries to have fun to the fullest, sometimes drowning in everyday routine much more than in a beautiful and carefree life.
Under the abundance of quite everyday conversations and everyday situations, the film constantly loses its genre. He is very much trying to catch on to slipping little things, such as robbery, first sex, club brawls, suicide attempts, and so on, but from them every minute slides into the mainstream of everyday drama. For a long time, we are told about the psychological traumas of abortion, forced to experience the grief of dysfunctional families, where one of the parents simply abandons everything and leaves, some quite conditional difficulties in promoting talent and at the same time a simulated conflict between step sisters on any occasion, but now and then they season the routine above with the above-mentioned diamonds, scams, scenes of lesbian love and nightclub life, but attention is given to interesting and spectacular parts at a minimum, and the threads connecting these scenes are too long and thin to keep interest from beginning to end.
The set of diverse girls from a loaded emo to a black lesbian does not mean that the female representatives represented in the film are indeed, as they say, “for every taste.” Variety is not brightened by a qualitative indicator, both in appearance and in terms of acting. And besides the girls, the acting talent here almost no one demonstrates, and the participation of the director as one of the main characters of the fourth story does not add to the picture.
In general, sometimes the movie is perceived as a ridiculous comedy - a gang that stole diamonds, and lost one of the pebbles (accidentally thrown into a bag by one of the heroines of the picture) actively snorts in his search in the light of day in the same place, talking in voice about the lost jewel, not afraid of either the ears of passers-by or the suspicions of the police (which in this film, it seems, does not exist at all, as such...). Finishes a kind of “black” style in speech turns and musical accompaniment, without the slightest racist considerations, the color of the director’s skin is felt in everything, as if all the characters of the film are black rappers. Even Tyler Perry’s films don’t have such a “black” mood. But here almost all white, and the endless "hey, bro" and other slang, as well as rap / r'n "b in the soundtrack an incredible amount of stresses excessively, but just fans of such music this should please, but it is also controversial - any hits or more or less memorable tracks in the music is not listed.
The number of plot conventions can be compensated by calling everything that is happening on the screen no more than a glamorous fairy tale, although in a kind of stylistic presentation for such a girl movie. The spirit of adventure is not felt here, and there is very little interesting in the actions of the characters. A funny cameo by Kevin Smith is able to revive this action, but it can not be called a bright event in the film, except that professionalism is felt in the frame a little more.
Yes, there are certain intrigues here, but it is painfully simple or completely forgotten by the plot in the future. Of course, serious social topics were also touched upon, but the creators had no desire to disclose them. Not a few bright characters, but in general the plot is overloaded with unnecessary heroes and superfluous scenes, in which there is nothing valuable, both plot and visually. Even the aforementioned glamour dissolves every minute in the “hard life” of emo-girls and the life of dirty “dark-skinned” neighborhoods, so the plot is not the most interesting, it becomes even sadder. The film added eroticism, a good entertainment element, but its shooting is not much attractive and looks everything, if not overplayed eccentricity, then modest and inept staging of scenes of this nature.
Nevertheless, the frame and the overall concept of the film are really good – while such films are rare, they should attract attention, and which ones are better, it is up to each viewer himself. And among the female characters you can find pleasant and cute actresses, closing your eyes directly to their heroines. And here the main thing is not to be deceived with expectations and ideas about this film.
There is no action and thriller here, as there is no beautiful love story, but for girls who love r’n’b in music and everyday girl stories, this movie will help to pass the evening with friends, and a fan (to) the “Sex and the City” can advise this film as a “young” alternative, suddenly hook. Experience is clearly lacking, neither casting, nor the creators, but as if nothing pretends to average movie “4.3.2.1.” pulls absolutely, and not everything is as bad as it may seem. It could be several times better and better. And so, for viewing in the relevant company, probably quite good and someone will definitely like it.
