Italian film, appearing on Russian websites under the title "Sharpless man" (originally - Man of straw, i.e. simply Stuffed) / L'uomo di paglia, directed by Pietro Germi, 1957. The title of the film, as written, refers to a poem by Thomas Eliot: "We are the Hollow Men" We are the stuffed men. Leaning together Headpiece filled with straw. Alas! We are hollow people We're stuffed people. Fuck in the head, Like a bag. Alas! (translated by Viktor Toporov) As in some of his other films, Pietro Jermi continues to develop the theme of adultery in this film. The main character of the film - forty-year-old worker Andrea (Pietro Germi) lives in a seemingly happy marriage, he has a good wife, a cute son and a cute dog, with whom he sometimes goes with his friends and son on the hunt. But one day, returning from hunting, they fall under heavy rain, in the yard of autumn, the son catches a cold and becomes seriously ill. After recovery, doctors recommend taking him to the sea, his wife goes with his son, and Andrea stays for days, going to work and waiting for Sundays to go to his relatives. Once on the shore, playing football with children, he accidentally meets a girl who had a date with a guy there. They both pay attention to each other, and the son, seeing her, informs the Pope that, it turns out, the girl Rita (Franka Bettoya) lives in their house, only in another entrance. The meeting turns out to be fatal, they begin a passionate romance, but this story does not end well, especially for a girl. And for the spouses, this story leaves an indelible mark - both in their souls and in their memory, it is impossible to forget what happened, no matter how hard you try. The film is quite good, the actors, mostly I liked, but the girl, as I sometimes thought, in some places overplayed, although it is, of course, Italian temperament, not ours. And what really bothered me was not a very successful one-voice voiceover, but I found nothing else online.
