People in boat The aggravation of the team’s relationship in an enclosed space, being far away in the open sea, and even during a storm, when devices fail around, is played out by a bright team in such a fascinating manner that the very atmosphere of the limited location is practically not felt.
Characters manage to embody a well-coordinated work on a fishing vessel, disrupted by the appearance of a woman - the captain's niece. The woman on board is unfortunately, as the famous saying goes, but it began before she arrived, when one of the crew members killed himself. Further, the string of adverse situations only worsens, intensifying tensions, and the storm that played out carries the boat further into the sea.
What could become an almost documentary story about the life of the fishing boat team as a result is built in beautiful artistic techniques of visual design, dynamics of the frame and has a fascinating story, which is essentially based on its diverse characters. These people in the boat turned out to be diverse and interesting, here everyone is unique in his own way and thus is a valuable link in the overall well-coordinated chain. And with the appearance of the main character, this chain is greatly broken, since despite the fact that an extra pair of hands on the ship will not hurt, especially after the death of one of the crew members, but to find her place on board the woman does not work.
Set on a theatrical play with the same actors, the picture immerses in the history of their relationship, almost turning into a thriller about survival in the heat of passions. Human nature, far from civilization, in an unfriendly atmosphere of distrust and fear, is revealed from different angles, but almost always finds an impulsive outburst of emotions or leads to psychological insanity.
Having not received much support from the captain, except for the consent to take her on board, the heroine is faced with a very hostile environment, in which you can single out an impulsive bully, a coke – a swimming champion, as well as a closed guy who compares Halloween by John Carpenter with the “Sperminator” – a porn parody of not the “Terminator”, talking with the team about the motivation of movie heroes. The latter is perhaps the only one who is somehow imbued with sympathy for the woman on board. Trying to draw attention, makes compliments, in fact even lives with her in the same cabin, except that the shower does not break in during the only erotic episode of the picture, but in his attraction, this hero probably could break away, leaving the prison of his own modesty, if the storm lasted for some time.
The series of misfortunes that occur only aggravates the main mythological motif, nevertheless maintaining the picture within the realistically shown case of going to sea. The fishing vessel suffers not a few misfortunes, but is not so drowned in tragedy and nervous breakdowns that in the end do not leave anyone, but only demonstrates the prerequisites for an explosive resolution of the conflicts that have arisen, becoming for someone the final point, and for others a severe life test.
Despite the general isolation and limited space of the boat, the film is built in excellent dynamics of the unfolding action. There are no protracted philosophical monologues that can tire the worldview of the characters, but each view of life here is very characteristically shown through the surrounding trifles and clashes of interests, the whole tangle of relationships within the team places strong emphasis on the personal characteristics of each, and the characters of the film really touch the soul with such brilliantly obtained types and their characters. Asgeirsson got a good art drama, showing a vivid example of a successful transfer of theatrical play into the language of cinema.
