In fact, it was necessary to shoot two separate films: one about war, the other children’s, with robots. But the fact is that if they did so, no one would particularly watch them, the war movie would have sunk into oblivion as some cheap Russian movie is nothing, and the movie with robots would remain in the shadow of Transformers and Children of Spies. We live now in a time when all the plots have already been shot and the cinema is suffocating, novelty is now found in the intersection of completely different topics. In anime, by the way, genre mixes have been going for a long time. Here's the movie from here. To be honest, before watching, I thought that I would be indignant – that’s what they say, a film about a real war, and it was multiplied, and in general history is erased from national consciousness. But no. Historical authenticity is observed quite well, the artistic color is conveyed, and the mountains, plains of Ossetia are a sight. The plot part with robots is actually not much, and it does not particularly interfere, besides, the theme of the projection of children's fantasy on reality is conveyed much better than for example in the schizophrenic "Bridge to Terabithia" - here at least the child was injured and saw it all in delirium, and not in reality instead of his father from Death with a scythe ran away.
And yet there are shortcomings. Without exception, all special effects, explosions, collapses were made with a kind of quality, but the Americans would have done 10 times better. In all this shines some clumsy realism, kitchen and household, only with explosions. About the attack on the bus in general is a separate topic: on the one hand it is great, because for filming a real bus was torn, and on the other hand, when the bus is shown from the inside, people are inside, panic, and when outside, it is clearly visible that it is empty. At least mannequins would be worn. . .
Well, the really noticeable file of the whole film is all the scenes with the meeting of the General Staff. They are not necessary in the plot, they are inserted obviously so that potential viewers from abroad can see the valor and rightness of the Russian command. Completed for two. The headquarters is unreal, fantastic, and nowhere to be found, as if in an isolated reality. Well, who is in charge at all is unclear. President? What? ?
