Running nearby When you look back on the next year that goes into history, you immediately remember the largest film premieres, the brightest episodes, the most talented performances of roles. It is surprising that new films, passing into the category of favorites, as a rule, do not differ either in the pretentiousness of the plot, nor in the abundance of technical effects, nor in the presence of hidden meaning embedded in symbols and movie quotes. They are rather absorbed by you as something close, understandable and not at all spectacular, as if waiting for its time to pour on the screen the magic of the director who guessed your way of thinking. A view of the world, embodied in two hours of film - any good film is a big, enclosed in a small.
The idea of big in small is easily seen in the movie "Daughter". A small town on the banks of a large river. A small town shaken by events too big for it. The murders of young girls and schoolgirls excite the residents of the province who are accustomed to regularity. We are used to giving simple and small answers to complex and large questions.
“If you cannot show me God, there is no God at all.” So believes Masha, who is approaching the priest’s son in the belief that he is the same as the boy she knows from the club disco. After all, they do not mind kissing anyone, viewing “these” magazines, etc. And what else would her drinking mother teach, which can never be counted on? Therefore, Masha’s friendship with the modest, to the bitter end, correct and responsible Inna is so easily established. “I have no one but you,” confesses the windy girl, feeling and accepting the strange seriousness of her friend.
The image of Masha is just one example of faith in a person shown by the filmmakers. If you can accept another, you are not completely lost. The plot of the picture throws up tasks and more difficult - and what if this other destroys your life and not hiding tests you for strength?
But perhaps the most painful place in the perception of the picture is the crampedness of our common life. Closer to the denouement, the pace of the film is convulsively accelerated: leisurely walks in the autumn silence suddenly replaced by a nervous running competition. It is possible that mass scenes, such as funeral procession or long-distance running, act as an image of a forced hostel. We have to walk or run side by side, but somehow not together. And when running nearby becomes a big question, it is easier to push him from the distance than to try to let into your little messy world.
