Igor Ivanovich Akimushkin was born on May 1, 1929 in Moscow in the family of a simple engineer. After graduating from Moscow State University in 1952, Igor Ivanovich defended his thesis.
Despite the fact that Igor Akimushkin began to publish in 1956, his works for children saw their readers only in 1961. Igor Ivanovich wrote about 96 children’s, artistic and popular science works about the animal world. His most famous works are: “A Path of Legends”, “The World of Animals”, “Traces of Unseen Animals”, “Primates of the Sea”, “Entertaining Biology”. The book “The world of animals” is considered one of the most famous and popular. Many works of Igor Akimushkin were translated into other languages and compared with the works of Prishvin, Bianka, Darrell, Brem and other famous authors.
Igor Ivanovich was interested in questions about animals all his life, he constantly studied their behavior and development. Moreover, Akimushkin singled out animal psychology as a separate area of research.
Igor Ivanovich was engaged in writing scripts for popular science films. In this field, he also expected success.
