Ray Jean (real name Jean Raymond de Kremer) was born in Ghent.
(Belgium). He lived a turbulent life, traveled a lot, changed several professions, among which is such an exotic one as a tamer of wild animals. He began publishing his first essays and short stories in 1910 under the pseudonyms Jean Ray and John Flanders. Of the works of J. Ray, the most famous is the novel Malpertuis (1943), as well as a series about detective Harry Dixon, a specialist in the investigation of supernatural crimes and accidents.
