Christine Jeffs was born in 1963 in Lower Hutt, New Zealand. In 1983, she received a bachelor’s degree in sociology and geography from Massey University in Palmerston North, New Zealand. Christine Jeffs was born in 1963 in Lower Hutt, New Zealand. In 1983, she received a bachelor’s degree in sociology and geography from Massey University in Palmerston North, New Zealand. Christine Jeffs began her career in the film industry as an assistant editor. In 1990, she enrolled at the Australian Film, Television and Radio School, graduating with an editorial degree, and then worked editing films and commercials. Back in New Zealand, Jeffs directed her first short film, Stroke, as well as a screenwriter and editor. This film was shown at the Cannes Film Festival in 1994 and Sundance Film Festival in 1995. She was actively engaged in creative activity in advertising, soon becoming a recognized master, whose works were awarded a number of professional national and international awards and included in the program "Cannes Lions". In 2001, Christine Jeffs made her debut in “big” cinema, putting a full-length film “Rain”, selected by the organizers for screening in Cannes and for participation in film festivals in Toronto, Edinburgh, Melbourne and Sundance. The film was warmly received by critics and the public, won several prizes. Christine Jeffs was one of the founders of The Girl Film Company. In 2003, the director directed the film "Sylvia", with Gwyneth Paltrow in the title role - about the history of the relationship between poets Ted Hughes and Sylvia Plat.
