In 1987 he graduated from Queens College at Cambridge University. Then, after completing a four-week English course in London, Morgan ends up in Istanbul. Then he returned to London, then went to teach in Spain, and then moved to Scotland in Glasgow and got a job at Strathclyde University. For fourteen years, Morgan taught English. In the US, it is published as Richard K. Morgan, but in the UK, the publisher dropped the initial ?K? for design reasons. Morgan says he likes it a lot more when he stays, but in an interview, he flatly refuses to say what the name behind that initial is.
In addition to the Takeshi Kovacs? series, Morgan is also the author of a separate novel, Market Forces? (2004). Richard wrote it on the basis of his own screenplay, which he could not attach.
