Sergey Nikolaevich Martyanov was born in 1918, in the city of Ivanovo, in the family of an employee.

In 1949, the first book of stories of the writer “Sisters” was published in Uzhgorod, dedicated to the people of Transcarpathia, and in 1953 – an adventure story about border guards “Once Upon a Border”.
In the following years, Sergey Martyanov wrote two scripts about the heroes - the heirs of Kazakhstan: "Maximovna", which was filmed - a short feature film, "Friends-combatants", published in the magazine "Prostor". In 1958, the writer’s book of short stories “Fiftieth Parallel” was published.
