Fame to the novice writer came through notes in one of the daily headings, which was placed on the front page of the newspaper. In his notes, the author masterfully in a humorous form described the current problems of modern society. Subsequently, his best notes were published in the form of humorous collections Die Vögel brüllen, Die Ameisenzählung and Schau ma mal. The books were very popular with readers.
In 2006, one of Daniel's novels was nominated for the German Book Award, which is awarded for the best literary work in German. The novel “The best remedy for the north wind” was written in the epistolary genre and was a correspondence of two people by e-mail. Critics often compared this work to a novel.
