Fenar Ahmad is a Danish director of Iraqi origin, winner of a number of international film awards. He was born in 1981 in Czechoslovakia to Iraqi immigrants. In 1986, his parents immigrated to Denmark, where Fenar studied film at the alternative film school Super16. Ahmad came to prominence after the short film Megaheavy, released in 2010. Ahmad came to prominence after the short film Megaheavy, released in 2010. He was awarded the Danish national film award Robert Award for best short film, and also presented the tape at several major film forums, receiving for it, in particular, a nomination for the Berlin Festival prize in the category Generation: 14plus.
In 2014, Ahmad’s feature-length work, Ækte vare, was also nominated for Robert Awards.
