Damn subway. Japanese horror film, from which you expect a lot in connection with famous actors and the classic plot with Yurei.
On the way to school, high school student Nana and her younger sister Noriko see a boy who said he found a subway pass. The same day, the boy disappears, the next day Noriko disappears. Nana begins to look for her, and in this she is helped by a train counselor who sees a ghost on the tracks.
Let me start with this movie. The cast is excellent. Erika Savadziri, a famous Japanese actress and model, coped well with the main role of a high school student who is looking for her sister. Shin Oguri with the role of train leader coped brilliantly, naive and desperate guy who believes in the supernatural, one of his most interesting roles. I also liked the girl who played Nana’s girlfriend, at first a bullying girl, she changes with the appearance of a ghost, realizing that her life is on the verge of death, she corrects her mistakes.
“Ghost Train” is a typically Japanese horror movie, and this implies typical Asian techniques. There will be a ghost of a woman who is looking for something and cannot find peace. Ghosts of not rested and very scary children, performed perfectly, the scene on the balcony at least did not scare me but shuddered. The screenwriters even managed to squeeze a demon into the short timeline of the film, by the way, this idea looked good, at least skillfully explained the appearance of ghosts.
The atmosphere is in the best traditions of Japanese horror, dark and dark, although the film is far from the well-known canons of the standard of Calls and Curses.
Of the film’s flaws, I can mention again the characters, who were sweet and not as epic as Yamamuro Sadako and Kayako Sayaki. There are no more complaints about the plot or actors.
The verdict, “Ghost Train”, despite the horror genre, is a fairly easy and fascinating film in which the fight goes not only against ghosts but also against internal demons, sometimes tearing a person much more painful and furious than demons from the dark. Definitely a dynamic and exciting film that I recommend to watch.
