And we want to see a good horror movie (precisely a horror movie, disguised sluggish drama – children should not get sick and suffer, keep it.). It is desirable that it was shot in the 21st century, as the classics have been revised! So what? Nothing again...
There is an opinion that this film has a claim to originality (about positive reviews quietly remain silent). What kind of originality? This is called the inability to shoot horrors. Crazy fake from filmmakers from Finland. The film has a short duration, but they still managed to anger.
Story. A few people go down the elevator and get nowhere. Allegedly on dark floors, and there Lordy's group burns to the fullest. Here's Hard Rock Hallelujah. Admit it, you only praised this film because of the band itself, all too obviously. Well, the fans have run wild. I have nothing against Lordie. I listened to their music for a long time, but we have a movie in front of us.
Terrible movie! Take Lordy out of the credits, you get thrash. Yeah, with bad computer graphics and weird monsters (from the 80s). There was also a ghost that you can safely shove into the movie Ghostbusters. Boo-boo-boo, it's really scary if you're 7. The film is full of standards for the most tomatoes.
Heroes say that you need to stick together, but do not hold. The phone doesn't catch naturally. One of the heroines is a little girl who draws all gloomy stuff. I was waiting for the finale, maybe there will be something interesting - no, again banal. Guys, don't believe anyone but Grandpa Z. He's a strategist.
The movie is very dark - it's a minus. Although there should be a plus for horror. Don't confuse! The atmosphere and the desire to hide all negligence. The Lordies themselves can't even be seen. What is this? Don't know. Someone managed to come up with an excuse for all this ugliness - the movie was shot in Finland, i.e. not in the United States, which means you need to forgive the minuses.
I would forgive the minuses if the movie was normal, but the film itself is one big minus. They would shoot a short film where they would simply say: Children do not get sick, eat porridge, and if you are still sick, get used to it! Ah, ha, I'm sorry. You'd better listen to Lordy's band like you did before. You don’t have to watch it, you only lose your time.
P.S.
It says that this film has two directors. Petka is clear, but here is the second citizen. Really? Finnish Alan Smithy! Ahahaha...
I started watching this movie in anticipation. After all, these are the same Lordi, striking everyone with their extraordinary and at the same time fascinating performances and video clips. The guys lived up to my expectations, unlike the crew.
The plot, I thought, original, in general terms, however, "smells" platitude in some moments. Six people, not similar to each other, find themselves in a place from which it is difficult to find a way out, and where supernatural beings lie in wait for them everywhere - banal (take at least "Grave Seekers"), but the director managed to unfold a seemingly unoriginal plot so that it became interesting to the viewer. He's honored and praised. Badly spoiled the overall picture of the plot failed attempts to make the episodes more depressing, with the help of meaningless sounds, silhouettes and eerie phrases like: From here there is no way out (there are endless rounds at the guard and a non-starting car at the right time). It also seems to me to be a rather pointless reception over time (when all the clocks and everything outside the window have stopped). All these nuances made the original horror ridiculous parody of a horror movie.
Heroes of the film selected poorly. I'll explain why.
The leading character is Sarah's father Ben, although I would not call him a hero, since I lost my daughter 4 times. I treat him like a bad parent. And the hero is the guard Rick (though I don't need to explain why). Then there's the useless nurse, the grumpy John and the psycho Tobias. It turns out that the main role was played by Ben, Rick and Sarah, and the rest were “cannon fodder”.
There are no claims to the scenery, background and costumes and you should not have.
Result.
Some Lordi clips are more interesting than this movie. The plot, I must tell you, is not bad, but the implementation remains to be desired. I should have given this film to Scott Derrickson or the Vicious brothers, and my assessment would have been different.

Lordi - Beast Loose in Paradise
It all started in 2006? No, much earlier, in 1992, when Mr. Lordi, then head of the official Finnish fan community of Kiss, formed his own heavy rock band. At first, it was a solo project, but over time, the backbone of the team was formed, which regularly pleased its then not so numerous fans with new albums, composed with a clear frequency of 2-3 years. As a film artist, Mr. Lordie developed an individual image for each musician, not without the influence of the stage images of Kiss, Alice Cooper and some other rock monsters. The true faces of Lordi members remain inaccessible to the general public. The torment of creativity has borne fruit. In 2006, the team won the Eurovision Song Contest, increasing the army of its fans, and Finland for the first time received the right to host the next festival of Europops. This film was conceived as part of his out-of-competition program and a good marketing move to promote the Lordi brand to the world market, but, as you would expect from hot Finnish guys, the project was not ready for schedule, due to the fact that in parallel with the shooting the band toured North America as part of the Ozzfest festival under the auspices of Ozzy Osborn. In this regard, in many scenes, doubles were shot, but the viewer did not notice the loss of the fighter, the benefit of latex costumes and makeup successfully concealed the substitution.
The idea of the film has long stirred the soul of Mr. Lordie, or, if you will, Tomi Putaansuu, who took the chance that fell on the wave of success. 7 people put their hand in writing the script, pretty straining their memory, in order to remember everything they had time to see in the genre of horror films, and Pete Ricky, who had not been seen anywhere before, made a movie. The result is a hellish mix of traditional American slasher and Japanese horror. If everything is obvious with the slasher, except that the blood is not enough, then the Japanese taste of sushi and sake gives the picture, first of all, the image of the main character - the girl Sarah, as well as the fact that the main events take place on the 4th floor of the hospital. Connoisseurs of the genre are aware that the number 4 in Japan is close to the number 13 in Western mystical numerology and does not bode well. But nothing promised trouble - an ordinary visit to the hospital, a completely standard procedure of computed tomography, which, according to the series "ER", is done in America with any diagnosis, whether diarrhea or jade, but the Finns were not so advanced and something went wrong. The girl Sarah (Sky Bennett), suffering from autism syndrome, abruptly freaked out and began to demand chalk: red, blue, and even black, drawing at the same time, to the envy of supremacists, terrible scenes that soon began to be embodied in screen life. Her father Ben (Noah Huntley)’s attempt to escape from the hospital made things worse. As a result, the father, daughter, and their elevator neighbors were taken to where time stopped at five to seven. There ruled the ball monsters of rock band Lordi: the ghost of the witch Awa, the man-beast Kita, the bull OH, the mummy of Pharaoh Amen, and of course, Hulk from hell - Mr. Lordi. All this undead did not sing songs, for here you are not a Broadway musical, but played themselves in all their glory. Such a terrible cameo. The monsters looked quite cute and convincing, but the main problem of the film is that its plot had to be adjusted to the already existing characters and numerous quotes of famous films did not always dock with each other, and the plot thread itself was woven, and got lost in the finale hopelessly. A meticulous viewer, for sure, will unravel all the ends and even find some meaning in all this, to the surprise of the creators of the picture. Perhaps there is a metaphor for changing the color of crayons, but remembering that the musicians in their songs pay tribute to black humor, we will follow their example and dwell on the fact that in their spare time Lordi frighten patients of all the surrounding hospitals. Speaking of songs. There is only one of them here, and that against the background of the final credits. Its name is “Beast Loose Paradise”, but sometimes it is horribly reminiscent of the unforgettable hit “Angel Dust” by the legendary group “Aria”. It is clear that the note is only 7, besides, a small plagiarism is quite harmless for any participant of the Eurovision Song Contest. About the game of invited actors - all subjects of the British Queen, literally in a nutshell - not a fountain, except that the girl tried.
The general impression of the picture is that it is quite funny. It, as expected, is dominated by gray tones, and so wanted more red in all its shades. Suspense was sometimes pumped quite skillfully, but the fate of the victims is absolutely predictable. In any case, the authors have achieved the main goal - the number of recruits of the army of darkness at least a little, but has grown, which means that the seeds of evil are about to sprout!
A long time ago, when I was about 10-11 years old, friends gave me a collection of horror films for my birthday. On this disc was the film “Dark Floor”. I liked the movie. Well, I was raised on all sorts of horror films. already at the age of 10 I was familiar with such films as “Invisible”, “Mothman” and other films of this genre. So, after watching the “Dark Floor” in memory, he settled for as much as four years. Since I barely remember the film, I decided to watch it online.
So, review.
Well, of course, Finnish cinema is not American, so you don’t have to wait for something like Craven’s The Scream or the good old Nightmare on Elm Street. But to be honest, the film caught on.
Most of all, of course, what I like most about films of this kind is the dark, blood-stained nooks of the hospital. I also liked the change in the interior of the floors: from hospital sterile to the real hell below. Of course, the acting of this film is not particularly distinguished, but thank you, sometimes worse. Of course, the presence of Lordie’s band in the film did not give the film anything new, but for God’s sake, monster, take off your snow-white pearl beads!
As for visual effects, for 4,300 euros this was quite enough.
The diversity of monsters is a separate conversation. It's called Monster Fly! What only they were: and the Queen of Creek, and Sandman, and hundreds of zombies waking up at the click of the clock.
Unfortunately, the ending leaves much to be desired. The whole movie was waiting for this girl to do something like that. The only difference between the final flashback in front of the credits and its original at the beginning of the film is that I read from the girl’s lips that she needs a blue pencil, and not the dad just swapped it for her daughter to shut up.
Bottom line: In fact, a good movie for a couple of times. It’s not perfect, but it’s not complete.
To be honest, I knew almost nothing about Icelandic and Finnish cinema, but when I read the plot description of the film Dark Floor, even the origin of the picture did not deter me from watching it. I've always been interested in the stories of empty hospitals and the horror that lurks in the nearest ward. No matter what anyone says, the “Dark Floor” is permeated with a simply frightening atmosphere, and the development of the action takes place instantly! Here our heroes got into the elevator, the doors closed and strange events began - the cockpit mechanism flounders, when entering the sixth floor it turns out that there is no one else in the hospital.
Our heroes are quite traditional for this genre. This is a father with moral principles and a sick daughter, a nurse, an African-American security guard who tries to keep the situation in his hands, an elderly man who is closed in his world and a complacent employee who is disliked by the rest of the elevator passengers. The company in the course of the plot makes its way to the ground floor, and the lower their path - the scarier and darker the hospital becomes. If the sixth floor is practically sterile, then the first is a real crematorium.
The only thing that disappointed, so it sometimes appears on the screen monsters performed by the Finnish band Lordi, for which this project was created. Unfortunately, they do not cause fear at all. But the general atmosphere of the picture and the fear of looking with the characters behind the next doors compensate for the inexpressive monsters.
The plot itself is tied to the game with time and possible interweaving of worlds. So “Dark Floor” is not just a horror film with a bunch of monsters, but a film where not a simple plot, but the final shots make you think: what happened here?

Lower than average The film left a contradictory impression. My opinion of this creation has changed several times. Before watching, I did not expect anything stunning, since I have been weaned from the stunning since “The Call” and, perhaps, “Sylent Hill”. But I was hoping for a good European horror. After 10 minutes of watching, I began to suspect something - all these strange pale girls, drawing black dirty tricks, hospital dungeons and suspicious otherworldly movers, seemed painfully familiar. After 30 minutes, it became sad that I contacted this "masterpiece" - I do not like to throw under-viewed films, I feel uncomfortable from this, but there was a urge. The reason for this is, first of all, the disgusting play of actors – every single one of them. From the girl I never believe in Stanislavsky to the rest. It seems that this is not a girl suffering from autism, but her company – they pronounce the prepared text so blandly and absolutely without emotion. Bathe in general, in my opinion, is deeply parallel to his daughter - he calmly throws her alone with various inadequate personalities among howling ghosts and other unpleasant phenomena (in addition, the daughter is about to fall into a coma from the lack of the necessary medicine, and he leisurely walks with a nice girl and talks with her "for life"). Our company reacts quite calmly to the surrounding hell, as if they regularly meet with living corpses and monsters in elevators. I was finished with the nurse’s statement, something like “perhaps these are parallel worlds layered on top of each other,” uttered in a voice that ordered a taxi and almost with a yawn. Second, it's the plot itself. The film is a hodgepodge of those techniques and decisions that its creators seemed successful in the already held films. The already mentioned "Call" and "Sylent Hill" were the dad and mom of "Dark Floors." They borrowed everything that lay badly (terrible doodles, monsters breaking down doors, a crowd of the living dead through which one has to wade, even a policeman who was destined to die from the beginning). But if in the primary sources everything was to the place and the topic, then here it is simply annoying. And in general, the plot is clearly sucked out of the finger. Why did these troubles happen at this very moment, how is the girl involved here, who is this black miracle, with whom the girl spoke heart to heart and what, so to speak, is the salt and morality? All these questions remain unanswered. Now for the few pluses: - Nice special effects. A lot of things were pretty convincing. - A few unusual ideas on which it would be possible to build a very decent movie, but which remained in the bud. - Oddly enough, the very penetrating atmosphere of the “Dark Floors” will be in such a place for sure no one will want. Bottom line: not absolute thrash, but something very close. You can watch once in conditions of acute shortage of quality horrors. 3 out of 10 Original
