You can lose, but you can't give up. Everyone has events that literally change their lives. Whether it is a new job, love, the birth of a child, the loss of a loved one. The list goes on because there are so many such moments. Although, most likely, these examples are more characteristic of the periods of our lives. No matter what orientation they have: positive or negative – the main thing is that they are able to change the inner world of a person.
The life of the main character Luca, a born pianist, was not different. It seems that everything is good and beautiful: at the international talent competition in playing the piano, he got out of a difficult situation and won, high-ranking people still respect, the girl loves, her mother is proud. And then, quite suddenly, on a happy day, a terrible thing happens. It's a terrible thing that deprives him of his ability to walk.
Accepting the fact that you can’t walk, that you have to ride in a wheelchair and constantly turn wheels, that you will not be able to do much, that you are not like everyone else is difficult. And the first thought that often comes to people in such a situation is simply to leave life. Because everything seems pointless and too heavy, like the weight of a tank. Someone leaves with this pain, and someone manages to get out of the web of incomprehensible feelings. Luke managed to survive because he saved the life of Roderick, the same disabled person who was his neighbor in his hospital bed.
We often wonder when something seemingly irreparable happens: Why me? Why is this happening to me? For what? We can’t find the answer, or we can find it, but not the first time. Life is an interesting thing, even mysterious. It would seem that Luke is the embodiment of the ideal young man with the right character. Why did such a fateful incident fall to his lot? Let's figure it out. Then he wouldn't have met Roderick. It was he who gave him the opportunity to feel that the person in the wheelchair is a normal and ordinary person who can have fun, love and really live. And not live within the confines of your ideal character. Roderick also became his friend, and people like that don't lie around. If it were not for him, Luke’s desire to do his favorite thing again would not have caught fire. Luca changed towards the end of the film and became more liberated, confident. It should be noted that the loss of the ability to walk gave a revival of communication Luke with his father, who left the family.
The film, from the point of view of the whole picture, confused me with a certain fragmentation. I had to figure it out myself. There was an impression that something was missing: either the clarity of the plot, or some spark that would force you to look without stopping. Judging by the poster, which is completely shrouded in gray, I expected a mental airiness from the film. I expected it, but not quite.
The main actors liked it. Kostya Ullmann (Luka) with a rather attractive appearance and such soulful puppy eyes, which you involuntarily want to believe, left a positive impression. Hinnerk Schonemannm (Roderick) did a great job. He got a strong role: to show a man sick, but also with a fractured inner core, which, despite everything, held to the last. A mixed impression was made by Cheyenne Rushing (Josephine) in the role of the girl Luke. There was pain, suffering, but I was taken by surprise by her play.
We don't know what will happen tomorrow. In fact, we live in constant uncertainty. It's really scary when you think about it. I want to say, “You have to live in moments.” What does that mean? To throw words is easy, and to catch their true meaning is not an easy task. Perhaps this means that it is necessary to appreciate life, to appreciate loved ones, not to postpone what I wanted to do for a long time. A moment lost? Don't give up. To the last. Because one day that wonderful moment will return, which will undoubtedly illuminate life. Behind every problem is always a road that is showered with rays of light. This is probably what cinema teaches us.
If you ask, “Should I watch this movie?” I'll tell you what's worth. Let the minor flaws stay away. After all, everyone has their own special perception of a particular movie. And the music is also very beautiful.
