I will play for Him... A Song of Love is a 1947 American, black and white musical drama directed by Clarence Brown. This musical film turned out to be a delightful gift exclusively for amateurs and connoisseur Katherine Hepburn, because she is simply beautiful in this film. We see the biographical history of pianist Clara Schumann: what classical music was for her in her life, her departure from her father to her beloved man, a respectable life and the terrible loss of a loved one in whose memory she continued to play.
The film was shot in a pleasant atmosphere, and the shooting was decent. Watching Hepburn in this musical film is a pleasure. She played just delightful: clean, emotional and sensual. As TIME put it in 1947, Hepburn is very convincing behind the piano – her hands move exactly as was customary in the nineteenth century. And that's a very accurate observation. Her hands just fluttered behind the piano, and you believe her a hundred percent. Katherine Hepburn was a gorgeous dress of the time, and she looked very believable in them. I wanted to say about the comic moment with the chicken in this film, it was very funny, it was the only funny moment in the film, and so everything is imbued with melodrama with a taste of drama and music. I watched this movie in English, and I think when the film is finally translated into Russian or subtitled, more viewers will see it. Watch Song of Love and this wonderful and beautiful movie will take you into the musical history of talented people, and we will see their ups and downs.
Bravo, Catherine!
