Tense Eric is a hero of my time. I do not believe that the animated series "Eric got it" (English - "Stressed Eric ") is a masterpiece that should be seen by everyone, and I do not think that the cartoon will be able to find a response in the hearts and thoughts of all people who still happened to get acquainted with him, but for me personally, this is a small timekeeper (2 seasons of 6 half-hour episodes) - a work of art that tells about difficult everyday life not the most resistant to life hardships, but insanely (aquatic and hyper-admired by his personality, in this way, he is so despositive in aductive and in the modern sense of his actions, which he is so saddeniable in the world, with all sorts of his own words, with all sorts of his unique in its own words, with all kinds of humorousness.
The history of the series. The animated series "Stressed Eric" is a joint work of a union of directors, screenwriters, animators and producers representing three countries at once (the United Kingdom, the United States and New Zealand), who worked on it under the auspices of the British television company Absolutely Productions (specializing in creating humorous sketches) by order of the TV channel BBC Two. The graphic component of the cartoon was created by the Hollywood animation studio Klasky Csupo (the same, pencil craftsmen of which own the visual images of a number of "Nickelion" cartoons and the first seasons of "The Simpsons") and it is thanks to the imagination and stylistic vision of its artists that the world of "Eric" appears before our eyes in caricature design. It is painted with dull, muted and cold colors that create a slightly depressing emotional and visual background. Oddly enough, despite the fact that graphics were engaged not just Americans, but specifically “sun” Californians, the animation is designed in absolutely British prim style, which, in combination with first-class black humor, over which in turn, the British themselves tried, causes a desire to applaud the work done standing.
In Russia, "Erik" was translated and voiced by the channel "2x2", on which it was broadcast in its entirety.
What do we see on the screen? Eric Fibble (English Feeble - weak, insignificant) - a forty-year-old resident of London in the "heyday" of the midlife crisis, the father is a loner, a neurosthenic, that in addition to his expressive behavior, we can also witness the nervous tics that are so noticeable, thanks to the pulsating vein on his temple during every pre-stress situation, a kind of a hopeless loser, representing the middle class almost on the scale of the main character of the novel "Long live Ficus" D. Orwell, but despite his incredible optimism, despite the fact that Eric has an incredible sense of his own.
At home, something always happens with two troubled children and their nurse - a governess who herself requires constant supervision, the number of unpaid bills grows in inaccessible progression, all the time something breaks down, official documents are lost and everything like that, but further aggravates the picture of the ideal family of neighbors who live right behind the wall of the twin house and meet with Eric on the next porch, radiating malicious neighborly friendliness, with all sorts demonstrate their own well-being and sprinkle with sly barbs. Eric's office, of course, is not good either - constant lateness, unpreparedness for meetings, all this led to repeated reprimands and demotions, so now our griefmaker works in the Data Department, adjacent to the men's toilet. It’s no wonder the main character is so nervous and impulsive.
Who is who? Claire is Eric's six-year-old daughter. She is a very fragile and vulnerable girl who suffers from allergies to everything possible. “Claire, it seems that you are allergic to an anti-allergenic suit”. Brian - nine-year-old son of Eric, the owner of a whole bunch of pronounced signs of mental and mental retardation. More than anything, Brian likes to drag all sorts of objects into his mouth, whether it is documents, toys, household appliances or anything else. Take the truck out of your mouth, please, just for a second. Maria is an eighteen-year-old governess of Portuguese descent. Most often we see Maria surrounded by empty containers of alcohol, a cigarette in her mouth and being in a state of alcohol intoxication. Where's Mary? These governesses ... lay in the middle of the night, sleep until lunch and puke on your pants. Liz - Eric's ex-wife. She now lives with a Buddhist messiah named Caleb, trying to rediscover the true Liz who was buried during her nervous marriage to Eric. The search for oneself most often consists in all sorts of tantric experiments, esoteric chants and the creation of genitalia from ceramics. “Even Liz, even Mrs. five migraines a night is now so fucked that throws a party in honor of this.” Doc is a young life lover who prefers to spend leisure in nightclubs of various sexual orientations. Eric visits Doc at least once a week to get advice and another prescription for another drug that has no effect, since all his illnesses are psychosomatic and hypochondria are not treated with medication. No wonder Doc is Eric’s best friend. But you have a different temperament, Doc, you don't care. When your wife was giving birth, you were in a group orgy with two anesthesiologists.
In the cartoon there are a number of interesting secondary characters who are constantly involved in the life of Eric.
Why is it worth watching “Stressed Eric”? Yes, if only because the series is one of the most brilliant I have ever seen, a hyperbolized carnival of social satire, expressed in various forms, in places – openly and superficially, in places – elegantly and symbolically veiled, sometimes in the form of the finest irony, and sometimes merciless humor below the belt. In my opinion, none of the most important areas of modern man’s life has been tabooed or overlooked. Politics, religion, economics, family values, sex, paperwork, traffic jams, career, public transport, human psychology, school and education, alcoholism, the inner world of a person, the post office, service personnel, health care, queues at cash registers and reception offices and much, much, much more. At the same time, it is certainly worth noting that everything is presented not in an obsessive manner, designed to convey a specific idea to the viewer and force you to make some definite conclusion, but in a very easy, witty, even in some way bright, albeit philosophical, context, executed with excellent taste. And most importantly, in the exaggerated and exaggerated image of Eric, with a charming pulsating vein and a huge baggage of failures, many will surely be able to see themselves, as it happened to me.
Without any doubt and remorse I put tense Eric, deserved -
