Not my luck. The second time I want a standard Japanese horror movie, and I get something different. First “Orochi” turned out to be a Gothic fairy tale, now “Tokyo psychosis” is a 99% psychological thriller. Of course, it was a warning, but who believes it? And after all, with horrors, it often turns out that a drama or a detective is declared, but in fact all the same dead girls and scarecrows from around the corner. However, this time we have exactly what was promised. The story of a girl who once received a letter with the phrase: "You will marry me." Is it scary? Definitely. Horror? Don't know. Not for me.
I mentioned 99 percent canonicity, because the first, like, five minutes, is a reference horror story. Childish, in the best sense of the word and so wild and strange that you do not know how to react (ah, the scene with the hands, I will never forget you!)
Then, unfortunately, the plot moves on the rolled rails. A strange letter, a strange boy, brutal murders, two ladies determined to go and make sure... What distinguishes this film is the degree of naturalism unthinkable for American analogues. True, in especially sophisticated moments, the year of production makes itself felt and the director is summed up by special effects, but squeamish and afraid of worms, it is better not to watch.
A little puzzled by the passivity of the main character, not even thinking to go to the police. And the fact that a very unambiguous parcel received right at the alumni meeting did not bother anyone present, also somehow strange.
Still, I liked the movie. I believed in him. I sympathized with the heroine, I was afraid of a maniac (pretty handsome, by the way), who was all the worse because his backstory is absolutely not disclosed. Why did he become like that? Well, there, mom didn't like it or something? Nothing. It's just there.
