I think I've got a fairy tale in... As a child, it was one of my favorite movies. I can't remember how old I was, maybe six, maybe seven or eight, but I remember watching it with great pleasure. The first part and the second. Now "Akmal" is forgotten, it was not shown for thirty years, and this is partly understandable. It's a different generation, it won't be interesting.
A simple Soviet schoolboy Akmal, who once again ran away from home in search of adventure, gets into a fairy tale. It's not difficult if you really want to. Looking for him, the policeman Nureyev most likely did not want to find himself in a fairy tale, but he was there. Together they save Princess Guzal from the evil dragon Kara Batura.
Let's start with the minuses. He's alone. Dragon. I understand that Uzbekfilm’s capabilities are far from Hollywood’s, but the idiotic howling lizard looks ugly on screen. I'm sorry, it's a hack.
Now for the pluses. The film is not without humor: a policeman on a donkey with a motor is just a godsend. I am still smiling as I watch this episode. The film has great music and songs, especially in the second part. The landscapes of Uzbekistan are delighted. Costumes are on the level too.
I think this movie could have been shown before the New Year. Maybe because getting into a fairy tale, Akmal walks past a tree decorated with New Year’s toys (it was a tree or not – I don’t remember). Maybe it’s because there’s an atmosphere in the film. The feeling that reality can so easily take and turn into a fairy tale. Once upon a time, it seemed that way.
