A romantic comedy is a love story of a guy for a girl named Summer, who will soon stop loving him, and he will suffer with pussy. A normal, easy picture, I liked it. Not everything is so clear in the relationship, it turns out.
Toxic relationships as they are. Both heroes are nasty. Tom is acting like a girl. He constantly throws it in the heat, then in the cold. Today Summer is beautiful, charming, unique and unique. And tomorrow, she's the last bitch and bitch to ignore him. From these emotional swings Tom is always suffering and depressed.
He completely disappeared into the girl. Even with friends, all conversations are about her. There are no worries or hobbies of their own. His whole world has shrunk to one small point. Tom liked the feelings and emotions Summer gave him. I want more. He became a drug addict.
I must say that the girl perfectly feels that Tom is in love with her. Feels and manipulates, taking advantage of the dependence and emotional instability of the boy.
There is clearly something sadistic about Summer's behavior. She likes Tom's suffering. It pushes him away and brings him closer, pushes him away and brings him closer. It would seem: if you see that a guy is blown away from love, stop, stop, cut off all contact with him once and for all. But it keeps hurting people over and over again.
Gender roles are clearly confused here. She's in charge. He's a slave. Summer was the first to make contact, the first to throw the rod, starting a relationship. The first kissed him, the first offered sex. The initiative is always her, and Tom obediently follows.
The only adequate person in the film is Tom's little sister. Balanced, calm, knows its value.
Advice to everyone: if you meet a person and feel that this is your destiny, just review the 500 days of summer and rose-colored glasses disappear by themselves. This does not mean that your relationship will end. This means that you will behave adequately and calmly, respecting both your partner and yourself.
On the one hand, as my friend said, this film is about a stupid protagonist who does not accept the answer “no”. On the other hand, the opposite can be said about the main character, she does not perceive the phrase “why not?”
This film, first of all, probably not about love, not about relationships, not about sex and everything else that comes out of it – this film is about people who believe that their hopes should come true, that they so inspire themselves and believe it that they forget about the real world and that everything is not so simple here, and any little thing can spoil everything.
I wouldn’t be lying if I said this movie made a double impression on me. Again, on the one hand, he showed me that love has a place in the life of even a simple man like Tom Henderson, who for the past four years has been just writing postcards. On the other hand, sometimes it is worth listening to your mind and doing what you need, not what you want.
This film is not only about one guy who thought that everything would be fine and did not want to accept the idea that he could be abandoned, this film is about a girl who tried to convince herself and everyone around that love does not exist, but like the main character, in the end she realizes that everything is not as simple as it seems.
- Love does not exist, it is all fantasy!
- What happens if you fall in love with someone?
A separate plus for the perfect musical selection in the film.
When the tape does not cause controversy, it does not achieve its goal. Cinema should evoke emotions, good or bad, but it should not leave indifferent. And so that the viewer does not care, you need to imagine, escalate, kick. I hesitated to see this film for a long time, because I was warped by the title and I was not a connoisseur of the genre of romantic comedies. Oddly enough, in 2009, several such deception films were released. For example, Murder Holiday, pretending to be a slasher, ridiculed the canons of the genre. This film also easily fits into the coordinate system of a romantic comedy, but there are things that make this movie stand out from the rest. Next, we spread the impressions by criteria and share some thoughts on this picture.
A narrative criterion or narrative. A guy who works for a greeting card agency falls in love with his co-worker, and the whole movie we watch all the way through their relationship. The idea of the tape is that any relationship can not be flat rails, there will always be bumps on the road, wrong turns. Between the main characters there is no light and sublime, and typical romcoms convince us otherwise. This film pleases me with the fact that it does not have excessive sweetness and moronic reactions of the main character’s girlfriends. Happiness is where you are confident in your ideas about relationships. And that it is impossible to ascribe grandiose significance to small events of life. It is worth saying that the film may not have the strongest literature, but the writers should count the attempt to play with the canon, without leaving it. Make romantic comedies a little closer to reality, giving them a touch of brutal reality. Of the script advantages, in addition to the non-banal message, we can note the special presentation of material. Few films of this kind break down the most important moments of a relationship into days, as if watching chapters from a book. The originality of the tape, if we mean the lack of reliance on existing products, is one hundred percent, the story is written specifically for the film. The plot gets a four, because not many believed that such a phlegmatic as the main character is able to fight for his love.
Visual criterion or technical support of the tape. Does it make sense to talk about entertainment in the genre of romantic comedies? They are more calm and leisurely, so there is no need to talk about the riot of special effects. But it is worth paying tribute to the camera work and directing. The standard story had to be properly diluted and therefore we have the division of the frame into “expectation is reality”, the collapse of a dream in the form of a sketch with a simple pencil, the visual design of the scenery when there are frames with insertions of days. Small patches of review plans and landscapes also look good, some could become wallpaper for your desktops. Spectacularity gets a B. Music and sound work perfectly for the atmosphere. Let’s pay attention to the well-composed soundtrack, which is a selection of groups with romantic songs – The Smiths, Wolfmother and others. Each of the bands featured on the soundtrack was once on your playlist. If you’re not a romantic, I suggest you try.
Acting jobs. Joseph Gordon-Levith and Zoe Deschanel made up a good screen couple whose relationship had chemistry. Tom is emotional and there were two moments when he had desperate outbursts of feelings, Deschanel herself is apparently a girl in herself and a little strange, so she plays similar ones in the movies. In this role, she manages to exist organically. Andrei Levin and Natalia Tarynicheva gave them their voices and endowed the characters with the characteristics that the audience clings to. I can't say anything bad about their work. I also note the work of such voice actors as Alexander Trofimov, who wrote Gray Gabler and Marianne Mokshina, who gave her voice to Chloe Grace Moretz. The actors themselves work well, conveying the whole range of emotions experienced by their face and intonation. For a better understanding of the work of actors, I advise you to familiarize yourself with the tape.
As a conclusion. I recommend the tape to friends, because despite the ambiguity of some of the characters’ actions, the story can be perceived as romantic and in this vein it works well, especially considering that some particularly infuriating moments of romcoms the tape makes fun of. If you decide to spend one evening to get acquainted with this tape, then spend time not in vain, because its ideas are positive and contribute to action. All health, peace and good cinema.
If you only find a couple of superficial touch points with another person and decide it's fate, it's unlikely to end well. When you fall in love with us all the proverbial pink glasses that only complicate everything. And whatever that man says or does, you'll hope for reciprocity. And if this does not happen, then you will wring your hands and mutter to everyone who wishes, that nothing foreshadowed trouble and everything was wonderful. And they left you because this man is bad, and you're not into fantasizing.
We all have our own ideas about relationships as a result of example or experience. If the agreement does not come out, then we must disperse. Understanding this also comes with experience. We are not robots to be programmed for other people’s senses. The desires of both people do not always go in the same direction. You're just not the right person to build a life with you. Everyone makes mistakes and that’s okay.
I agree that too many works where love occurs at first sight, feelings are mutual or through complex twists and turns comes to build a relationship with a good ending. For a young age, absorbing this is harmful, because many people want to have a relationship like a song, a movie or a book. It doesn't. We need to learn to accept and to retreat. No one promised it would be easy. No one invented a pill to eliminate pain from unrequited feelings. So you have to do it alone somehow.
Would I recommend watching 500 days of summer?
I think the movie is useful to watch. And then it is a matter of a person, just to look or draw some conclusions for yourself.

We can treat modern Russian “propaganda” about the correctness of our lives and the decay of everything and everything there. But if you look at the most recognized foreign melodramatic paintings from the middle of the last century to modern, then we will see the erosion of the usual behavioral roles in love relationships. The closer the movie to our time, the more desperate the characters suffer from reasons that cause our viewer only bewilderment. And this is probably a good and healthy suffering of a person driven by external conditions into a strange framework for solving strange problems. But this is not our man, nor our conditions, nor our problems. Our girlfriend might be offended by her boyfriend for a bar fight. But not for the reason Summer was offended in this movie. And we (at least most) wouldn’t appreciate the freedom of expression in the cries of a couple of lovers in a central city park. I don’t want to take the whole movie step by step. If you look abstractly - at the picture, sound, acting, then the film as a product is good and quality. But it causes about the same feelings and desires that the main characters had when visiting the exhibition of modern art. That was the only time I was in full solidarity with them.
Very beautiful lighting. Wonderful, but clearly oversweetened characters, there is not a single evil person, a whole movie of only kind people (well, except the dude in the bar). And the boss, did you notice how good? Such simply does not happen, he is an angel, with such a boss breaks a tear, I have never seen such a thing. It's nice to see people like that, but it's not true, it's a fairy tale. The heroine is so cute that while you look, you fall in love with her yourself and it is difficult to lose later. No obvious morality is derived from all that is happening, instead, the announcer (which in the film should not even be) argues “there is fate / no fate”. The film was created to provide psychological support to those who broke up, but whatever the authors wanted to convey, in the end they found that girls change like the seasons. The new one will also be gone in 500 days. There's a lot of pain in this movie and it gets stuck in the viewer between the ribs because it has absolutely no way out through the idea. The film does not have the healing effect for which it seems to be created.
Life is full of surprises, and not always pleasant: not everyone and not always given the happiness to love and at the same time to be loved. It is about this irony of life and tells the tape “500 days of summer”.
I hasten to say that the film in sensations and in general appearance is very similar to the genre of cinema, called romantic comedy, only it is not, because the film is simply not the degree of lightness, which includes romcom and just not the formula of the formation of the plot.
Debutant Mark Webb broke the whole story into “days”, each of them preceded by a title: for example, “day 1” or “day 358”, and then, relatively speaking, pressed the “shuffle” button, that is, “mix”: we are invited to live these 500 days with the main character of the film without the possibility of an objective view of the whole situation from the side or from the point of view of the subject of his adoration, which looks more tempting compared to the next contemplation of a romantic comedy with often the same storyline.
There is no logical development of the couple's relationship on the principle of "fascination - already almost love - disagreements - love and happy ending", instead, there is a story of a series of successful days (days with Summer) and days of failure (days without her, but with thoughts about her), and experiences are shown, as you probably already guessed, only one side - Tom - with all his guesses and absurd ideas, dreams ...
One of the main advantages of the tape, along with a well-conducted casting and a compromise between form and content, is the soundtrack, consisting of a huge number of various melodies from excellent musical teams: The Smiths (on the basis of love for the work of which our heroes came together), Wolfmother, Feist, Hall & Oates, etc.
500 Days of Summer is not a simple statement film, but rather a healing and persuasive, very life-affirming film. If you don’t believe in love anymore, watch this movie.
After revisiting this feature-length debut of Mark Webb, I found myself thinking that there aren’t many such “true” stories being shot. This fact is all the more surprising, given that the story of Tom Hansen is the story of each of us, regardless of our gender, race, creed, social status. It would seem that there should be a huge demand for stories not about love, but about real relationships. No, on movie screens, we mostly see dirty romcoms or heavy dramas with a happy ending. All the more valuable is the story of Tom and Summer with its simple plot, but complex narrative structure, with its obvious morality, but shown in such a way that after viewing there is a pleasant aftertaste of something new.
We often tend to exaggerate the tragedy of what happens to us, which is not surprising, because we have no other life and any problem, especially in the field of personal relationships, takes all our attention. Time and experience must eradicate this absurd defect in us, but sometimes infantilism takes root in every corner of our consciousness. So it happened with Tom, who appears to us as an infantile teenager who believes in eternal love. His image is of course exaggerated, as are his friends, whom I rather want to call high-aged children.
On the other hand, we are presented with a pretty Summer, radiating invisible fluids, the victims of which are all the men in her environment. But behind the turquoise-gentle facade hides a childhood trauma associated with the divorce of her parents, which makes her grow up early and acquire a fair amount of pessimism in relation to the concept of “love”. She honestly tells Tom about the prospects of their relationship, although Tom misses these words.
How good is this painting? The fact that the male characters here exaggeratedly naive and infantile, and the female on the contrary exaggeratedly wise and conscious (what is only little sister Tom). The way storytelling continually shifts us from the paradise thickets of a relationship’s beginning to the faded desert of its steadily approaching end, and vice versa. Finally, the fact that the banal seemingly a story about rejection of others and the need to love yourself does not look moralizing and does not look secondary.
Someone famous once said that a work of art is about the belief of the viewer in the work. Well, you believe Tom and Summer's story. You believe it because it is painfully reminiscent of our lives.

Let's watch 500 Days of Summer, and I'm like Joseph Gordon-Levitt and I'm going to break glass.
Rose-colored glasses shatter inside - that's a fact.
And what you came up with about a person, the idealization of his image, some air castles with him - all this is only your fault and under your responsibility, because no one owes anything to anyone, and certainly no one should meet your dreams. Yes, it sounds painful, but this is life and there is little you can do about it.
In the life of probably everyone there was a kind of Summer, with whom you saw your brightest and happiest future, and later disappointed. In my life, too, was 'Summer' only her name was Danya and it was a guy. The same situation: you fall in love with a person to the point of unconsciousness, and then stand like the main character in a tantrum and beat dishes, because everything went completely wrong.
The film '500 Days of Summer' is one of my favorite melodramas, under which you can laugh well and weep pretty, as well as face to face with the real world, where everything is not so sweet. This work is worth watching at least to open your eyes to true love, real life and learn its lessons.

The film's localizers are deer. Summer is a name, not a season of green lawns and school holidays.
The movie doesn't catch on at all. Ordinary in the picture, idea and script, the film extremely unconvincingly reveals (in fact, does not disclose at all) its characters.
An architect who composes text for postcards is not able to draw a straight line. I'd like to take a look at his architectural degree. Postcards that could become a script find are not needed in the film for any reason.
A girl without a past, living as she likes, lives as she likes. There is no transformation with it, and we are not interested in anything - the authors tried. You can not seriously expect that the viewer will be imbued with the fact that she loves the band & #39; The Smith' which either hears in other people's headphones, then does not hear when the music sounds full in the office. Probably, the heroine is thoughtful, which we also do not care. The whole result of her brooding sounds like this: ' We need to break up'. Something really interesting is happening behind the scenes.
Why the architect suddenly understands, ' nothing is preordained' is unclear. The movie doesn't tell us that. He no longer writes texts for postcards, he was abandoned by a girl, and this is all the changes in his life.
I liked the final joke. If the film had a sequel, it would be called in the Russian box office '500 days of autumn' Since the movie has zero calories, there will be no sequel.
Undoubtedly, the painting by Mark Webb deserves the status of a cult creation, since it raises a rather important and pressing topic for each person, in particular, about his predisposition to another, and how this can end when people are completely differentiated from each other’s interests.
Good acting, Levita and Deschannel contributes to the immersion in the narrative of a non-trivial romantic comedy, with an existential leitmotif, thanks to a qualitatively implemented plot concept.
Of course, there is no need to talk about the audiovisual component, since it is certainly at the level, because masters of their craft worked on the project.
From the above, we can conclude: we have a good well-written story, which gives you to think about how all people are different and lonely, in connection with which those seeking kinship in another, often without giving due, about the desire of another.
Are you used to seeing melodramas, where a guy and a girl meet as if so prescribed by fate, together overcoming multiple obstacles eventually find happiness and live for the rest of their time? If you want to play this movie and see something like that, forget it.
Yes, at first it seems that before us another romantic comedy with the notorious ' and they lived happily ever after.' The main character named Tom (Joseph Gordon-Levitt), at first sight falls in love with a beautiful girl with a no less beautiful and warm name Samer (Zoe Deschanel) and after some time and several comedic moments, an on-screen couple with common interests, but with different views on life is formed. And everything would be fine, but here we are moved forward for a couple of dozen days and we can watch the main character suffering from a break with his beloved Summer. You might think that everything will get better, because this is just following the canons of romantic melodramas, the characters will cope with difficulties and at the end we will have a kiss against the background of a beautiful place.
Unfortunately, we are going to be disappointed. All those moments where two hearts have to stick together again lead to nothing. We are only mocking and ridiculing the whole genre of romcoms, show two ways of narration, masterfully dividing the screen into two windows: ' expectation' and 'reality'.
But it was immediately said that this story was not about love, and Summer informed Tom that she did not want anything serious. So what is it? It is worth accepting these conditions and not to be disappointed. Everything came to what we were prepared for. But since it's Tom's story, it's like we're going through all these moments with him. The viewer gets into the body of the hopeless romantic Tom and can not accept everything that is happening for the truth, can not understand what is happening in the head of Summer. At some point, it may seem that Summer is a girl of easy behavior, perhaps for someone she will remain so until the end.
But what matters is not who Summer is. What matters is who Summer is to Tom. And for him, she was the person thanks to whom he grew up, realized that in this life fate is written by the destiny bearer himself, it is not prescribed for him somewhere in advance and should not fall from the sky like manna from heaven. Do not start only from your opinion, thinking that if you are so similar to a person and you feel good, then it will last forever. After all, it can only be good for you, and the girl suddenly wakes up in the morning, can understand that she is missing something. Yes, it happens, and do not be surprised by this watching melodramas.
'500 Days of Summer' is a wonderful film in every way. Beautiful camera work with a magnificent color scheme, as well as music, which is a separate hero of the film, thanks to which individual scenes are experienced much deeper and more emotionally - this all makes this film one of the best romantic comedies. Thanks to an extraordinary script and an unusual course of the story, coupled with excellent actors, this film will definitely be remembered.
The very film that will tell you that she is not the one and will do it so that he will listen.
For a very long time I did not want to watch this film, because I was sure that if the film is about a relationship, then it will necessarily tell a typical story about how hard it is to survive all the unpleasant sides of love and preserve these very relationships.
However, in the end, having gained patience, I began to watch this work. The film was able to laugh literally from the very first seconds, which immediately set in the right way. And immediately I want to note that the film is incredibly funny, humor is very high-quality and extremely evenly distributed throughout the picture. But more importantly, it’s not the movie I expected to see.
Yeah, yeah, everybody says it's not a typical romantic comedy or anything, but I'd say it's a melodrama for guys. Of course, there are other representatives of the comedy genre that give a look at the problem of relationships from the point of view of men, but they are all nevertheless ordinary and do not even try to give an answer about what to do if the girl is gone. 500 days of summer are not just trying, but confidently declare that there is only one way out - to live on, change the world around you, you can not kill yourself forever, someday let him go and there will be a holiday on your street again.
None of this would matter if the story wasn’t so true and convincing. And this is exactly what it is – all artistic techniques are so appropriate and so accurately reflect reality that you want to enjoy them again and again. The film provides one but very important answer to so many questions that 99 percent of guys (and probably girls too) around the world have had, and will have, namely, why? how? why? why? why? what? was it not the way I thought? why he? And the answer is simple: it just happens to be a coincidence. But this phrase is unlikely to convince anyone of the truthfulness and sufficiency of the answer. Many people will want to hear more and understand what it means. And 500 days of summer is about that -- what does that phrase mean, and why you'll never know if you've found the one or the one.
About acting, I want to say only one thing: everyone plays convincingly and sincerely, I did not personally notice a single fake moment, and honestly I did not really want to.
As a result, the film is highly recommended to see every person who has been, is or is going to ever be in a relationship, especially guys, because first of all it is all the same for them!
The title of the film we decided to translate literally, although during the viewing it becomes clear that the correct title - '500 days Summer'. It's lost the wordplay. However, this did not affect the sea of positive impressions from this tape. I’ve heard about it for a long time, but I only recently got to see it. Have you noticed that many directors get the best debut picture? Mark Webb is no exception in this regard.
Tom Hansen works for a company that produces greeting cards. One day a young girl Summer Finn comes to get a job with them. Tom immediately realizes that this meeting is predetermined by fate. . .
Don’t think it’s a classic vanilla romcom. Behind the mask of melodrama lies a real love psychological drama that can easily affect the mood of the viewer. The narrative will jump chaotically from auspicious days to depressive days and vice versa. The ending can be called slightly predictable, but before the finale, the movie will surprise you many times.
Atmosphere. I liked the idea of moving between days and drawing animation, color reflecting the emotional state of the protagonist. A pleasant picture fits perfectly into a specially selected color scheme. Excellent camera work demonstrates beautiful close-up plans and shooting from behind the shoulders of the characters. Joseph Gordon-Levitt (Tom Hansen) and Zoe Deschanel (Summer Finn) seemed to feel the experiences of their heroes and therefore coped perfectly with their roles. The guys proved that their duet will be remembered for a long time by many viewers. If Joseph had been less of a fool, he would have been worthless. Humor is also worth mentioning here. Quality jokes I would call life and everyday, and it always goes to the picture in the plus.
Music. Magnificent diverse soundtrack will appeal to any music lover. Here you and the songs of the legendary band 'Smiths', and the famous song 'You Make My Dreams' (Daryl Hall & John Oates), and even the famous song 'Sweet Disposition'<39;The Temper'The Temper&p#; Separately, I would like to highlight the song 'Hero' (Regina Spektor) and the bright, memorable and emotional moment that occurs during its performance.
Result. That’s what it means to watch a movie in time. I met him at a difficult time for myself. The situation was like the opening scene with Tom in the kitchen. In my head twisted the same phrases that the main character said. I want to thank the authors for the simple truths that we all know, but which still need to be periodically communicated to people. Sometimes they just need to talk again. The tape made me rethink a lot of things and let me look at things differently. This is not a panacea, but the film can be called medicinal. I am delighted to see it.
500 Days of Summer is a film that has completely changed my mind about melodrama. In my opinion, this is the best film in its genre.
I’d like to start with some great actors. They are perfect for their characters. This is not the first time Zoe Deschanel has to play an unusual, bizarre girl with strange interests, tastes and behavior. Summer does not believe in love and feelings, lives in the present day, she wants to remain free even in a relationship. She is unusual, and her image is interesting. The character of Joseph Gordon-Levitt is as simple as possible, he has no ambitious plans and goals, he waits for happiness to come to him. But Tom, unlike Summer, believes in love. Here brilliantly depicts the change in the worldview of these two characters during the course of the film, how they influenced each other.
The highlight of the film is its morality and meaning. When they meet, he immediately concludes without hesitation that she is the one. But this is not mutual, it cannot be called love. The tagline of the film is “This is not a love story, this is a love story.” What it is and how people see it.
The film is complemented by a very cozy and pleasant color scheme. It was indicated that the color scheme was specially selected for the bright blue eyes of Zoe Deschanel.
The picture specifically stands out for its non-standard and non-linear manner of narration, thanks to which the film looks very fresh and original. I definitely recommend watching this movie.
We're all familiar with feelings. Mutual and unanswered, dimensionlessly bright and painfully prickly. We dissolved in love, and later smoldered in its consequence. We all had lawyer friends and a younger sister who was a relationship teacher. This film is not about the story of one couple experiencing a crisis of love, no, it is about all of us.
With its beauty and absurdity, romance coupled with bitter reality, the tape initiates alternating emotions: spiritual jubilation, locked in one cage with deep sadness, is constantly enhanced by melancholy relevant music.
In my view, as well as in the basis of the plots of many paintings that tell about the construction of relationships between a man and a woman, the consistent development of feelings has the following scenario:
When you find it, you are afraid of losing it.
They lose their taste.
They are trying to find the end,
Forget everything by heart.
It would seem that what else can surprise the movie consumer, telling him about the problematic, fatal features and the complex nature of first love? - Absolutely true - the way of presenting the material: a leap-like movement of the viewer along the entire length of the timeline, limited to 500 days, distinguishes the picture by its originality, and if this length is applied to the impeccable performance of the actors, add a handful of humor and soul-eating anguish, then it is quite possible to turn out a quality film that deserves the look of the viewer passing by.
The cast demands special attention: Tom (Joseph Gordon-Levitt) is far from handsome, although a bang laid under the film's curtain back might argue that. As for Summer (Zoe Deschanel) - despite the fact that she never pestered on the covers of glamorous magazines, her charm, ease and attractive look catches both Tom and the audience on the other side of the screen from the first minutes. Observing the chemistry of the main characters, it seems that only a couple of words separate the vertical of feelings of Tom and Summer from a similar geometric figure of Joseph and Zoe - the Camera! Action! Cut!
One writer once suggested that love lives three years.
One writer once objected: “Summer” will last for half a thousand days.
So sincere, real, touching and heartbreaking is the story that most of the film is hard to watch without tears turning over your eyes. This is so familiar to all of us.
Perhaps the striking energy of this picture lies in three things:
- in an excellent reception indicating the exact day (date) of certain events, which, in turn, are shown in an inconsistent, but far from random order - which allows you to focus on fateful events and decisions of the main characters, as well as feel and realize their metamorphosis;
In a well-defined time span of 500 days, within which the story unfolds, you know when it will end, and this understanding keeps you tense and anticipating the outcome.
- in the incredible chemistry of the characters of Joseph Gordon-Levitt and Zoe Deschanel, about whom any laudatory odes will sound meaningless. It is better to see and feel all this for yourself.
It is also possible to note the competent application and implementation of the win-win formula “mentor-student”, in which actors often change roles during the film, moving the plot and revealing each other’s inner experiences. Here, the role of a mentor is played by a very young, but no less talented, Chloe Grace Moretz, who perfectly fits into the general thread of the narrative throughout the picture. Personally for me, this is probably the best (albeit such a small) performance of Chloe on the big screen.
A stunning film by Mark Webb, another one hundred percent hit on the target, along with a magnificent ' Gifted.

It's hard to live a hopeless romantic. And it seems so beautiful, it would seem that the whole story teaches us that love is the main, the most beautiful part of life. She enlightens and leads in total darkness and saves from death – she alone is credited with more miracles than anyone else; we have managed to create a true cult of love. But really, what is behind this word? Over the centuries of every minute use, it has depreciated and acquired a plush pink hue.
But imagine, since childhood, you hear about a certain wizard Merlin. In every book you are told that this wizard does not live anywhere but on your street, in your house! But there is a caveat: Merlin does not wear a robe and a cap, he looks like an ordinary old man with a long gray beard. Question: What is the probability that childhood conviction will not turn into blind faith, and that every time you meet a beggar near the entrance, you will not sneakily smile at the collar? None, probably not. Moreover, even if the old man tells you that he is not Merlin at all, you will nod and still think: ' He can lie as much as he wants, I still see everything.'
Also, being convinced that true love, like a flash of lightning, will certainly illuminate his life, he creates around himself the reality that he wants to see, closing his eyes to reality. And even though Summer told him from the beginning that he did not want a serious relationship, the hero took it as a prelude to a lifelong romantic story, where he persuades a beautiful princess and opens her to a world full of love and clouds. A grand mission.
If the hero were less self-centered and infantile, he would immediately dot the i. But it is more pleasant for him to imagine that he is still in the same pink castle, just that he lives by a slightly different rules and is called not ' Castle' but ' One-bedroom apartment'. That's all.
Most of the 500 days Tom suffers about Summer, they only meet for 150 days, so yes, the movie is definitely not about love. But what is it about? I think it's a picture of the castles in the air that we use to shield ourselves from grayness, the fairy tales and the illusions that we live in. Only these castles are designed for one resident and to interact with others, you need to leave them from time to time.
If you have heard the phrase from the title 100 times, and then wondered why nothing came out of the relationship. Don't waste your time, you'll see a banal love story.
If you have heard the phrase from the title 100 times, wept over the fragments of a relationship, but began to suspect that you initially missed something important. In this case, the film, through beautiful scenes and interesting editing, will allow you to look at yourself from the outside and, perhaps, save you from future suffering.

Usually, such films are popular among the fair sex, but I am ready to say with firm confidence that hardly any girl can understand the movie “500 Days of Summer” as true romantic men will understand it. The director absolutely accurately and deeply feels the nature of the unfortunate guys that so strongly believe in love and simply can not live without vivid emotional experiences. Many gentlemen are ready again and again to send their frigates to crash on already so familiar rocks, and it is for them that this movie was shot.
Gordon-Levitt is incredibly real in this tape, every line he makes and every situation he gets into makes him exclaim enthusiastically "This is literally me." The details of life are scrubbed to the chills. Together with Thomas, the main character, we alternately experience the whole range of feelings for Summer. At first glance, it really seems like she’s the one who’s come off Doumer memes to say she likes The Smiths, too. With Thomas, you fall in love with her, and with him, your heart breaks when you realize more and more clearly that she is also a typical woman, unable to understand the nature of a romantic man.
The film as a whole has a mild mood with a seemingly subtle sadness, but it is incredible how painful even it can hit our vulnerable natures. Inside, everything twists into a tight knot when, together with Thomas, you see this vile, gradually acquiring an increasingly clear form of cold in the behavior of a person from whom you are crazy.
To be completely objective, there are certainly flaws in the film. Humor is clumsy in some places, some episodes are too pretentious and played, but it does not matter, honestly. And really, what do I care about minor sins when a movie evokes such emotions? “500 Days of Summer” made me feel really sad. Real life situations, presented easily and unobtrusively, only exacerbate these feelings. And God, how wonderful it was, how glad I was to experience just such a palette of emotions thanks to this film.

In fact, after watching this movie, I felt pretty mixed up. I doubted whether I liked this movie or not. But after thinking about it for a couple of weeks, I realized I liked it. And now I want to tell you why.
The very plot of the film is very simple, our protagonist-romantic, meets an unattainable girl-dream, and they begin to develop a relationship. All. And how could such a clichéd idea make something unique? It's very simple. Here, a huge role is played by the visual and narrative decisions that the authors applied. For example, a tree that reflects the development of relationships between the main characters. Or not a chronological narrative that is designed to play more on the contrast and most dramatically present us with some points. Or even in the film, there is a famous scene of splitting the screen into expectations and reality. Which is designed to show us, because of the hero very much changes in his worldview. If you analyze all the visual-narrative techniques used in this film, then too much text will go away. So let’s move on to the characters.
We have two main heroes. The protagonist is a hopeless romantic who believes that there is destiny. And the main character, the so-called manic pixie dream girl, that is, a manic dream girl (for example: Ramona from Scot Pilgrim). Their relationship, and their chemistry on the screen, is also one of the advantages of this film. Speaking of images, our main character is the complete opposite of the main character because of this, it is quite interesting to look at how their views on life and love change under the influence of each other.
To sum up, this film is definitely good. He is good with visual and narrative solutions that conceal parts of relationships. He's also good, good actors who are perfect for their characters and the chemistry between them. And also a message I haven't said anything about, because think for yourself.

The film tells us about an ordinary guy who works for a Los Angeles company producing greeting cards.
At heart, he is sentimental, as he grew up on songs about great and pure love. And here comes this moment: he met 'her' - the one to which so many songs and books are devoted - his ' true love'. But it's not as simple as it seemed. The path of love is never without obstacles, so we will walk this path filled with pain, fun and love with the hero. Fate or confluence of circumstances?
Acting Game
Joseph Gordon-Levitt, Zoe Deschanel, little Chloe Grace Moretz and many others.
I really liked the game because, as if you are all this time with them, it is so convincing.
Interesting directorial techniques: when there is a count of days, you can see how with each new separation the moral state of the character changes, more precisely, next to the counter, we see a tree that either sheds or tries on leaves.
Transferring screen characters to their separate cinema as they look at themselves from the outside.
Divide the screen into 'Reality' and Imagination'.
Beautiful architecture of the buildings that the characters talk about so much.
MINUSES
For me personally, the downside is that I had too high expectations, or rather, the expectation of a stronger plot twist than what was in the film itself.
This is probably the problem with me.
In some places it was boring, or rather, I probably was not too imbued with his emotions to empathize.
Result
This is a light, sentimental film that suggests: Is there love? Are our encounters accidental or is it destiny that guides us? Is there a fate?
I guess I made a lot of decisions. Because it's really a great movie, because when I think about it, I realize it's all very nice.
You want something light? Look at this.
I make 8 Romantics out of 10
A very rare phenomenon – a film that is made on the light hand and does not have a sophisticated narrative, I was able to really enjoy. Adjusting myself to a simple evening comedy, I got a film that is able to bend all your melodramas, and in the most rigid sense of the word.
Mark Webb made an atypical film. First of all, we need to emphasize a nonlinear narrative. The title speaks for itself - the film takes place in an interval of 500 days. Except we're constantly thrown between events - after 249 days, they show the 13th and then the 437th. But I will not say that this is a minus, on the contrary, the fact that we collect a puzzle from such days is a very good move. Separately, I will highlight the reception of a parallel narrative. In one scene, we are shown an expectation/reality reception and how much the desired differs from the actual. Well, there is a moment in the film when at the beginning the guy says that he loves all the details in the girl, and then by the middle these details already hate.
The second is a departure from the standard that it is a film about “the love, relationships and affairs of cherubs.” Yes, you expect a happy story of two young people in love from such films, but no. The main characters have their own views on relationships that are diametrically opposed. A guy named Tom believes in “love to the grave” who wants to find the girl of his dreams and live happily ever after. The girl Summer (note, a good game of words!) on the contrary - does not believe in eternal love, tries just to enjoy life, treats "heart" with ease and playfulness. And throughout the film, we watch the life of this couple, as they have fun, longing, talking about the pressing. I’m certainly a stunner at “love, relationships, and cherub affairs,” but honestly, if I had a girlfriend, I’d stick to Summer’s point of view. Everything would be easy, not taken seriously. I don’t understand the words “work on relationships.” They work in an office, and if you're happy with a person, why make things more complicated? You almost calculate and everything will fall apart.
Needless to say, the actors are excellent? The role of Tom was played by the actor Joseph Gordon-Levitt, who I personally associate with the films of one of my favorite directors, Christopher Nolan. The young man gives a great performance. The role of Summer was embodied on the screen by a pretty beautiful girl – Zoe Deschanel. Deschanel is one of the types of actresses I like – cute looks, eyeballs and often associated with memorable images. In the same category, I can include Margot Robbie, Mila Kunis, Emma Stone and Elizabeth Olsen.
And most importantly, from the very first shots, the film lets us know that it is not serious. The author's note reads: " This is a fictional story, any coincidences with real persons are random. Especially with you, Jenny Beckman. Bitch.. Local jokes are really fun (one scene where the Bollywood dance is parodied is really a banter!), the atmosphere of the film is sustained in the summer color scheme, a good soundtrack.
Someone will say that Summer is a little selfish, in the course of the play she makes a good bummer for Tom, and that in general, about the relationship she is wrong. Guys, I've seen enough love stories and I can criticize them myself. So why can't I share Summer's philosophy? Especially in the movie "500 Days of Summer" with her not so unambiguous, but you already have to look to understand what I'm talking about.
Good melodrama, without excessive “happy ending”, moderately funny and moderately sad.
The film was shot in 2009 by director Mark Webb.
The film came out light, pleasant and a little sad. I am sure that everyone can understand something from this picture. The film is built from pieces of summer mixed with each other, the history of the characters' relationships is served before and after the breakup at the same time. But everything is taken for granted. You somehow understand that this is how it should be.
Tom (the main character) is in love, he is happy, unlimited happiness, which is incomparable to anything. How many of you have never felt that way when you want to smile at everyone? But closer to the middle of the film’s narrative, Summer’s smile becomes increasingly dark. Tom, and getting darker picture, playing the role of the calendar of the film. What happened was that they were too different, although they both love The Smits.
Actors' play: Joseph Gordon-Levitt did a great job in his role. Every movie he appears in, every role he plays is canceled. And Zoe Deschanel, who was annoying throughout the film.
Separate word to the soundtrack. He's magical. The music is inextricably linked to the story. In the film, it sounds like something else is impossible to insert. Gentle, touching compositions such artists as Regina Spektor, The Smiths, Simon & Garfunkel and Mychael Danna & Rob Simonsen sound in the film.
Love is generally a good thing, and failures in love are only a reason to understand your mistakes and correct yourself, because autumn will always be ahead.
': You know what the worst part is? Knowing that everything you believe in is absolute nonsense. '
There is no romantic love if there is no serious relationship... men and women are also just friends... and we all play these roles, and in this movie there is a secret architect of fate in the form of an invisible author (the team of the film project tha
There is no prohibited content in the review, but I still ask not to read it to persons under the age of 18. And this movie should be watched only by adults (no matter what age rating marks are put by film distributors).
This is a dramatic story that everyone goes through in their lives, even those who have never loved. I'll explain later. . .
[I strongly recommend not reading the review if you haven't seen the film yet.] There are no spoilers in my text, but your overall impression of the movie may be completely different if you watch it for the first time without reading this review.
This review was written during I do not know at what time of viewing, of course, each viewing gives a new impression. Therefore, these impressions / reasoning / conclusions (etc.) from "I do not know at what time of viewing", no more.
This story is just like life. There is a minimum of romance, a lot of pragmatism, a lot of reality, from which everyone runs, but which everyone lives. In short, the boy falls in love with a girl, and this girl has a lot of cockroaches in her head. But, as it turns out, in this “girl” “boy” finds its own reflection, because in his life almost more “cockroaches”. That's the whole point of this movie, which I explained without spoilers.
But let's get away from the plot. The author of this project uses repeatedly hidden satire over typical clichés of romantic comedies:
1. Therefore, the whole history is divided into days (this is a conditional division, in our lives it can be years: 5, 10, 20, 25 years ... or the whole life);
2. Therefore, in this movie you can easily make the main character of the main character, and from the main character – the main character (male and female characters are not so important, just look closely, she even dresses as a “man”, and he is more and more like a “bababa”, especially in the first half of the film);
3. Therefore, the plot comically and tragically throws us to the beginning, then to the end, then to the middle of the story.
4. I love watching and watching this movie.
Every time we experience ourselves, we ironize ourselves. After all, we all thought that this did not happen to us. But we watch this movie once... time passes... more time passes... we go back to the film and realize that once again in our lives we stepped on the same “robbers” as the main characters.
I also want to focus on point 2. I know there are roles in this life. Both male and female roles are also roles. That's what heroes do at the IKEA store. They play roles in their roles in the film against the background of the changing scenery of the home coziness of the “nickey” apartments. But, as it turned out, they play in their almost “real” movie lives. If you look from a Christian point of view, then in the Holy Scriptures we find the following lines:
On that day the Sadducees came to Him, saying that there is no resurrection, and asked Him:
Teacher! Moses said, “If anyone dies without children, let his brother take his wife for himself, and restore his brother’s seed; we had seven brothers; the first married and died, and had no children, left his wife to his brother; like the second, and the third, even to the seventh; after all the woman died; therefore, in the resurrection, which of the seven will she be a wife?”
Jesus said to them, You are mistaken, not knowing the Scriptures or the power of God, for in the resurrection they neither marry nor marry, but remain as the angels of God in heaven.
(St. Matthew 22:23-30
Many people miss this point from the Bible. There will no longer be the world we are used to. There will be the same equality to which humanity is so striving (including even sexual, if you can express it this way, in fact, sexuality will no longer be needed there, as well as the need to earn money or take care of the home, that is, our roles will change, as we do ourselves), but which without Christ he will not find in any way. And here is the theme of this equality indirectly touched upon in this film. It blurs the line between male and female, youthful and maiden. Therefore, in this project there is only an easy sexual context, but at the same time the sensual sides of the relationship between a girl and a guy are extremely naked. Actually, our guy could be born in a woman’s body, and a woman could be born in a man’s guise. And then they would have to try on other roles, but the essence of the relationship would not change.
Read more about paragraph 3. I'll go back to the Bible. I received a spiritual education and read it often (daily). This book easily changes my outlook, so to speak. Biblical texts often use time travel. The future is often predicted by prophets. But they do not just predict it, they say exactly what it is from the point of view of God. Here I will clarify that our Almighty is as it were outside time. Therefore, the life of man appears before Him as an open book. After all, some people like to read not in a row, but after reading the first chapters, immediately go to horses, then back to the beginning. This was the case with the Jewish kings, to whom God showed their future (good and bad). So we are in this movie. The author of the project throws us now forward, then in the middle, then in the beginning. It's a trick. It's not really a movie, as you can see. This technique is bookish, as it was here that it was first successfully tested.
What to say about the characters
The main stars of this project lit up many times on large and small screens (films: “The Beginning” and “The Dark Knight: The Return of Legend” with Joseph Gordon-Levitt, the series “New Girl”). Immediately lit up a frequent guest of the Marvel movies – Clark Gregg. "On the Hill" went the career of director Mark Webb.
By the way, almost simultaneously with “500 Days of Summer”, another good film “How to Marry in 3 Days” was released. The latter is more romanticized, but pairs nicely with the former like salt and pepper. I recommend you to watch it too.
P/S
If you look at the initial phase of the movie quite differently (without the leapfrog of transitions back and forth by day), then the plot can be compressed to a story from the life of an office “plankton”, in the measured existence of which Summer burst. And then the typical office employee “broke a love fountain” ... {the continuation of the review should be in the comments}
We all have a strong and unwavering belief that everything will be fine. And our dreams will come true. We dream of love at first sight, dream of an interesting high-paying job, about vacations in exotic countries, about a luxury car that we clearly can not afford. In the end, we dream of “dreams” and do not notice how everything in this life passes by. In the tradition of Hollywood melodramas and romcoms, he tells us that everything will really be fine and thereby contribute to “doing nothing” and again empty dreams. The truth is, you can be a hell of a talented guy, somewhere in the back of your mind, but languish in a completely unsuitable job. You may be in love, but the girl of your dreams will insist on calling you just a friend. You can be the kindest, smartest, empathetic, almost perfect, and yet the most miserable person in the world. Welcome to real life, a life in which you are just a pawn, a speck of dust, almost nothing. In a life that you can change at any time, you just need to make some effort. In a life where everything is possible.
The plot of this film is simple: a boy meets a girl, falls in love and what happens next? As the slogan goes, “This is not a love story, but a love story.” It's not really limited to that. There are also unfulfilled expectations and dreams about freedom of choice and the absence of Destiny as a fact. The story is that the sea is full of other fish. It’s about always saying what you feel right now and not thinking about a future that may never come. At the end of the day, it’s a movie about accidents becoming non-random and meaningful only if we choose to. No destiny. In addition to the non-banal story, filled with the right meaning, there is also a great presentation of material. The whole period of the relationship is divided into 500 days, which in turn are divided first into bright, memorable turning and are mixed. It attracts nonlinearity because it adds to the dynamic, because if it were linear, we would see kissing in the first half and suffering in the second half. It turned out that the positive moments are diluted with a bit of negativity and this gives the relationships of the heroes of the ambiguity that is impregnated with harsh reality. According to the criterion of the plot / script I will put 4.5 stars out of five.
It so happened that we justified the criterion of entertainment by the paragraph above. But we only talked about the pace and dynamics of the narrative, but we didn't say anything about what it looked like. And it's time to think about camera work and his camera, which helps us see how Tom and Summer's relationship develops. Their union arose spontaneously and developed as unexpectedly as it began. The camera follows the heroes everywhere. If I were to make a personal top of the scenes from the film, it would be a walk through Ikea, listening to the music of the band The Smits and the finale, which shows that life does not stop and it goes on as usual, there will be a new feeling and do not need to dwell on one thing. It is worth saying that in terms of following the audience for the heroes, everything is set well. Rating: 4 stars out of 5.
The fact that this very game was not felt in any of the scenes of the film says a lot about the acting. Each of the actors showed that he is able to show vitality in any conditions. This was the easiest thing to do here, since all the conflicts are dictated by life itself. Joseph Gordon-Levitt began to gain momentum after the role in this film, shortly before that he saw the movie “Killer” with his participation and there he played an ambiguous character, but coped with the role. It existed more organically than ever. Zoe Deschanel, as always, amazes with her extraterrestrial charm, a beautiful, smart girl well suited to the role of a girl who has her own special view of love. Among the familiar actors were Matthew Gray Gabler, Jeffrey Arend, Clark Gregg, he will now be associated with Coulson for a long time. If you want to better understand him as a character, watch Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. Everybody did a good job. The score is five stars out of five.
The soundtrack in the film is simply wonderful, each of these melodies is remembered and asked for a playlist, all of them are light and the best fit to the general atmosphere of the narrative and largely thanks to them, the film, despite the seriousness of the theme rising, makes this film lamp. I'll give you five stars out of five, and I'll put it below, so that you can judge the truth of my judgment.
Verdictating. A great story that shows us how we can be real in a world where everyone seems more than they are, tries to pass off puff for champagne and gives mysticism to ordinary phenomena, which should be treated more calmly. This film is about how to survive love, not how to find it, how to keep your mind and not lose your head, how to stay yourself and not go into the wilds. I recommend it to those who think about love. I wish you all good and pleasant viewing!

I’m sure astonished what a specialist in ' love, relationships and cherub affairs' but honestly, if I had a girlfriend, then in a relationship I would stick to the point of view of Summer. Someone will say that Summer is a little selfish, in the course of the play she makes a good bummer for Tom, and that in general, about the relationship she is wrong. Guys, I've seen enough love stories and I can criticize them myself. I can call the great Gatsby an idiot. Characters of the film ' My King' - an alliance doomed to failure. Bradley Cooper from the film ' My boyfriend is crazy' - fixated on his ex-wife, while he got a good option in the face of Jennifer Lawrence. So why can't I share Summer's philosophy? Especially in the film '500 Days of Summer' it’s not all that clear, but you have to look at it to understand what I’m talking about.
The movie was fun. The plot is very interesting and differs from standard melodramas in that it demonstrates the interweaving of contradictions and feelings of a couple who are convinced that they have comprehended love - in fact, they are very far from this feeling. Indeed, how can this dysfunctional couple recognize love when the girl is obviously narcissistic and the guy is likely to be a latent homosexual – in other words, a very toxic set! At the same time, I never condemn such features of development, on the contrary, I encourage them. These people are the most creative, enterprising personalities – and this fact is rather subtly conveyed by the fact that Tom works as a creative inventor of cards and congratulations.
Both heroes I would sincerely recommend high-quality psychotherapy.
The film is entertaining, and the more entertaining it becomes the more similar it is to the viewer’s own experience. Uninformed lucky people, this picture will be an excellent guide to determining the types of personality from which you should run breaking your legs, and in no case build false illusions.
General impression: This tape was spinning in my head, thinking that this was an omission, sat down yesterday to watch ... What's romantic about it? Nothing. From the start, the film gives us a hint that this story is not about love, revealing all the cards and giving us no interest when watching! But as it turned out, many film comes and it is considered almost the best movie about relationships! Are you serious?!
Let's move on to the moments that attracted me:
1. Nonlinear narration - the film is decorated in a calendar, it is these 500 days that randomly pop up around the corner. At first it can be 30 days, then abruptly 303, again 2, then 272, etc. I liked it, because the unusualness of the tape and how the picture is mounted is a clear plus.
2. Atmosphere - in the film unusually summer style. Everything is blooming and smelling! So bright and warm shades that my eyes enjoyed the colors.
3. Joseph Gordon-Levitt is just an accurate hit in the role! His attractive and heartbroken eyes perfectly conveyed sadness, loneliness and love! He lived that role! Every day of summer, which swept before my eyes, opened again and again, giving out truly brilliant kulbits!
4. Baby Rachel - oh, this is the most appropriate person! Even though the heroines are only 10-12 years old! This is the sister of our hero in love. She helps him with her advice and says smart sentences!
5. Beautiful sound - the music really puts in the right way. Pleasant melodies create exactly the atmosphere that is happening at the moment, whether it is sadness or joy (I will return to music later).
Now I want to highlight something I didn't like:
1. History is one-sided love and why is it necessary? At least once in life, a person is faced with such a thing as not love, and indifference meets on the horizon and a person is no longer needed, morally crushed in his world. But! That's not it! Absolutely not the movie! The way the story was presented initially caused only boredom!
2. The heroine Summer is such a summer name, isn’t it, for an egotist? Such girls, alas, exist and I want to warm them up with something. Because the fact that she made the whole film, this crazy strangeness and delusions caused me a huge dislike for her person. Only our hero will forget her and she will come again. I wanted to shout to her, ‘Don’t go near him, you crazy bitch!’ Do you think she has feelings? She does what she wants and most importantly, she gives you hope. And her stupid, "I don't know what kind of relationship we have," and I roll my eyes up. A friend of the hero at the beginning of the picture said the phrase and she very accurately describes it “All right, she’s stupid!” The most interesting thing is, why do you need a relationship if it leads to a divorce? Don’t go outside in case a UFO is kidnapped.
3. Zoe Deschanel - despite her cute face, her image developed in my head not from the best side. Why is that? Beyond the snide smile and strangeness in behavior, you need to play! It so happened that she was eclipsed by Joseph, and I didn't even notice her playing. Tree, move. (Incidentally, I don’t remember any of the roles.)
4. Music - I used to talk about attractive music, it is true, but I unfortunately did not remember anything in the morning. All those nice tunes melted like smoke.
5. Characters - in fact, the characters are not very written. We don't know much about them. Tom only craves love for us, and Summer at first seemed to me a mystery girl, which then turned out to be so simple and uninteresting, Tom fell in love with the image, which he later realized.
Result: What did the movie do to you? There are a lot of tapes from magical love, where it really is like a fairy tale, to love, which has survived everything! For example, “The Eternal Sunshine of the Pure Mind”, “Titanic”, “Dirty Dancing”, “Hurry to Love”, “Nights in Rodanta”, “Gone with the Wind”, “The Great Gatsby”, “City of Angels”, etc. I have brought you enough good tapes where there is a variety of love and can still lead. But this film, like the cry of the author’s soul, can be seen as it was once overtaken by the same Summer.
5 out of 10
Undoubtedly a beautiful film! Especially for viewing by young people, but personally, as a cynic, after watching the picture, I remembered a short pseudo-joke review about the film “The Irony of Fate”: “If you discard romance, then the film “The Irony of Fate” about how a Moscow drunkard comes to Leningrad and destroys someone else’s family.” About the same here: if you try to evaluate the plot dryly, then we have a picture of how the girl trampled on the feelings of a man. This is shown to us as a norm that a man is strong and everything will be fine and he will definitely get back on his feet. I'm afraid many girls watching this movie will see Zoe Deschanel's message as carte blanche to a la Summer: free, with no regard for their partner's fate. So my opinion is this: the film is suitable for viewing people under 20 years old, or couples in the midst of candy and bouquet period. The last one, if only because they're obviously not going to see it through, if you know what I mean...
