Before watching a comedy film produced by Columbia Pictures, you can say two things with complete confidence: all the equipment in the frame will be Sony brands and in the end everything will be fine. The family comedy “Shop Cop” was no exception to the rule, completely satisfying my desire to see a nice calm film with unobtrusive humor and a simple, as a nail, plot. The main character is a kind and simple guy named Paul who lives with his daughter and mother and works as a security guard in a supermarket. He has long dreamed of enlisting in the service of the real police, but all attempts fail due to hypoglycemia, as when the blood sugar level drops, Paul can fall asleep at the most inopportune moment. He has no wife, although his daughter is trying to arrange his father’s personal life through online dating. Plus, the main character likes to eat, as a result of which the figure is far from the generally accepted standards. One day in the supermarket, which he guards, gets a job in the wig department a new cute saleswoman, with whom Paul immediately falls in love. Further, the scriptwriters add an action to the plot and continue the canvas of the narrative, smoothly leading to the expected “everything will be fine” finale.
I liked the acting, especially remember Kevin James with an unusual mustache, who independently pulled out half of the film, and kind of even performed stunts without a stunt double. The plot, of course, can not boast of intricate vicissitudes, but made very high-quality, smooth and interesting. The soundtrack also leaves the most pleasant sensations, although a few hours after watching it is difficult to remember what kind of music was there at all.
The film is good, it is a standard representative of family cinema. There are no shocking scenes, swearing and nudity, so you can safely watch it in the company of children. It may seem boring to adults, but it can easily help pass through a rainy evening.
