Amai amai amai amai KO-I-BI-TO I decided to watch this film at all costs, as soon as the number of episodes of the anime version exceeded half. The first meeting with Negisi-kun: a kind, shy boy from the village, writing romantic songs from his school bench and dreaming of one day becoming as stylish as his idols, actors and musicians, about whom he reads every month in his favorite glamorous magazine. And his alter ego, Johann Krauser II, constantly drawing strength from hell for the sake of chanting murder, violence and the anatomical structure of human bodies, left me the brightest impression. A guy with a potty haircut gets into a death metal band and drives all of Japan crazy, you won’t see that every day.
About many such films, we can say: “why they were shot at all, not everything that is possible in the drawing is suitable for a feature film”, this is true, but until you try, you will not know. I think that this movie should have been made, if only because you can see the live Krauser, as well as Negisi-kun. The actor who played both of these roles was very good, it was very pleasant to watch him play, especially as Negisi. If a guy like that in pants and a sweater was playing on the streets of my city, probably everyone would be a little happier. In the role of Krauser Matsuyama, Kenichi also showed himself quite well, except for the very drive that Krauser charges his fans with. That’s the main weakness of the film – it’s not a drive. It's closer to romantic comedy, more comedy than romance. Another disadvantage is the script - it consists essentially of selective anime scenes, slightly modified and shuffled among themselves. For example, the scene in the amusement park was successful, while the scene of the pogrom in Negisi’s apartment is definitely not. They simply could not arrange a normal pogrom, and no “actors” were selected for the role of pumped-up twins. I won't tell you a secret, but they're not people. And in general, the actors correspond to the original images, especially the main fan of Krauser, in the film he will also yell, idolize DmC, and occasionally appear on the screen. Manager, bass, drummer, café dude, Tetrapod Melon T, secret love and beloved mom are all waiting for you in this film. Also, the film diverges in some scenes from the original and the story of Krauser II will end differently - a great reason to get acquainted.
In general, the film has gone quite far in genre affiliation, here we will see rather the story of Negisi-kun, his two roles occupy the lion’s share of screen time, even more than he was given before. I also doubt that such a movie will be interesting to watch unfamiliar with the original anime or manga viewer. This version is worth watching if you like “Detroit” and you want to see a feature film on it without fear of the inherent flaws in the genre. I am sure that the decision to see it was right, but I will not look at it a second time.
