"Star Trek" is one of the oldest and largest science fiction franchises, which includes several series, even more films, a huge number of books, comics and video games. There are many stories about bold hikes to where man and most aliens have not stepped. Stories are not stupid, requiring from the viewer/reader at least some knowledge about the cosmos and faith in the light - both in man and in the world around. Unfortunately, the stories are not always successful: the box office of most films were not a failure, but rather average, and the last at that time the series Enterprise closed in the middle of zero. But the studio bosses did not want to part with such a brand: fans demand, and therefore will be ready to pay. But no one wanted to understand the overgrown canon, so the story was restarted, starting with the youth of Captain Kirk and company.
So, a bright (sort of) future, the United Federation of Planets lives and thrives, and somewhere on the earth’s ranch fools young sloppy Jim Kirk. His parents-astronauts died saving the crew of his dying ship, and he did not really understand what he wanted from life. To understand him helps accidentally met in the bar elderly Captain Pike (fans will remember him from the original series). Under his influence, Kirk enters Starfleet. As soon as he graduated from the Academy, he is forced to defend the Federation from the mysterious Nero, who with the help of mysterious red matter can destroy planets. . .
And the classic "Star track" is not very similar. Instead of experienced professionals, the hysterical teenagers of yesterday. Okay, that's the story of their formation. Only here "Star Trek" always between the lines taught that serious decisions galactic scale make professionals, and save the universe from threats engaged trained officers. However, in this film, they have gone somewhere, and the space threat is eliminated by beginners who have barely graduated from the academy. And the atmosphere of a serious space opera begins to crack at the seams.
Problems with the science of local fiction. The original series showed the starships extremely functional, and the technology is so realistic that many of them by the release of this film have become part of our lives. Here, the science in the worst Hollywood traditions sacrificed entertainment. The teleporter saves only those who are needed by the laws of drama, the new technology with great potential serves as just another Death Star, and the pilot Sulu fights the enemies of the folding (thanks, not laser!) katana. If it were a fundamentally new universe, it could be forgiven, but releasing it under the sign of Star Trek is at least ugly. And the only obvious reference to the original series in the plot is built so artificially that it causes not joy, but a desire to howl at the moon - no matter what planet.
However, all this is shown beautifully. Beautifully painted space, truly futuristic interiors of the Enterprise, spectacular explosions, well-staged battles. The actors are good. Chris Pine is really trying to be Captain Kirk, only younger. Carl Urban gave McCoy more charisma than the original. Anton Yelchin as young Pavel Chekhov... well, at least he's funny. Only Zoe Saldana as Niyota Uhura is downright boring. She doesn't have much to play. Zachary Quinto as Spock... The fault, of course, is primarily not him, but a script that portrays the hero as a scoundrel and a scoundrel. Hero, who in the original personified common sense and tranquility. That's what Quinto had to play, but it seems that with unpleasant qualities he slightly overdid. Another good actor in a poorly written role. Again, in the old series, the characters could be different, they could not understand each other, but they were all understandable and close to the viewer. And they were a team, not a bunch of tantrums. In this case, they are united only in the third act. The idea is clear, but still...
2009's 'Star Trek' is not a terrible movie. This is a strong, perfectly shot fantastic action movie, which the average viewer will swallow and ask for more. But if you’re looking for the real Star Trek, you won’t find it here.

Returning Star Trek or Restarting is a Difficult Business
Creating a restart of a cult film or series is a rather non-trivial task. On the one hand, there are already ready-made plots, heroes with prescribed characters and an army of fans rushing to the movies to praise or criticize the novelty to the dust, thereby helping to recoup the release of the film. On the other hand, the rebut will always be compared to the original (often in favor of the classics). The creators need to preserve the best that was in the original, and at the same time add something of their own, so that the film is not a soulless copy, find a balance between the old and the new. Did Abrams succeed? Everyone should make up their mind. Although it should be clarified that the perception of the audience, familiar and unfamiliar with the original, is sharply different.
The Abrams version seemed pretty good to me (especially after watching the new Star Wars, after which any space fiction can not be bad), so I decided to see the original. I can say that after TOS, the restart is perceived very differently. And I would say that he is losing a lot...
What's in the new Star Trek? Special effects, action, beauty Uhura, rebel Spock (compared to the stereotypical Vulcan) and sloppy Kirk, who for some reason was appointed captain of the flagship (apparently, the Federation sees the ideal captain). Bones suddenly liked it. By the way, in any of Star Trek, this pessimist surprisingly accurately predicts troubles and cataclysms that threaten the ship, and they immediately fall on it. This is especially true for the transporter, but this is not about him. . .
There is a certain coherence of the plot, which sets it apart from many modern films, where the logic and storyline are completely absent. Eternal themes of cinema: love, friendship, family, revenge, are always relevant and never tire. Let the main characters are somewhat stereotyped, but the actors play well, causing empathy in the viewer.
It should be added that the restart does not copy the original, it is completely different, it is modern to the viewer and ... infinitely far from the original, like Vulcan from Earth.
What's in the classic Star Trek? Its unique warm atmosphere, faith in a bright future with peace on Earth and peace with extraterrestrial civilizations. A somewhat idealized Captain Kirk with his old-fashioned romance, keeping his composure in the most difficult situations, able to find a way out of desperate situations and always protecting his crew. The wonderful Mr. Spock with his irony, intellect, unshakable moral principles and loyalty to duty and people. 'Illogical emotional man' Dr. McCoy, hot-tempered, irritable, brave, compassionate. After these characters, the characters of Abrams seem simpler, they lack neither depth nor endurance, which logically (hello Spock) should be present in the officers of the flagship of Starfleet.
TOS is somewhat naive, idealistic, in the modern view it lacks dynamics and special effects. Sometimes the stories and actions of the heroes are repeated. But he bribes with his sincerity, with his belief in an almost utopian future, in equality, non-violence, the ability to come to terms with any adversary. The romance of deep space, where no human foot has stepped.
Abrams' films are perhaps useless to compare with the original - they are different and about different things. The starter is more focused on teenagers, they should be interested in the new Kirk, Spock and Uhura, but adults will also suit. Perhaps there is no need for depth TOS, this is a fantastic action movie, spectacular, exciting and allows you to distract yourself from everyday problems for the evening.
If you consider Star Trek not as a restart, but just as a movie, then it is quite worth watching. But my heart goes out to the classic Star Trek.
A sense of celebration and joy, a real space adventure
StarTrek is a special universe for many reasons. First of all, I remember my childhood and in the evenings my mother and I always watched StarTrek. I'll never forget the phrase "The Place Where Humanity Has Never Footed" 39. I can’t say I’m a big Star Trek fan, just the best memories.
The first scene where the father of the protagonist bravely sacrifices himself for the sake of the pregnant wife and the crew of the ship - just something! Probably because I watched at an early age, but somehow it was this epic scene that made the strongest impression on me.
Chris Pine as Captain Kirk is the perfect choice. It feels like the role of a romantic crook with a mix of Han Solo and Indiana Jones was created specifically for him. A true hero in which you believe, only on a huge cruiser class ' Constitution' which is ' Enterprise'.
In addition to the galaxy of very cool characters who form the crew of the ship, a separate character for me is the Enterprise itself. Icon of space fiction after all. The filmmakers do not parasitize on the setting, but carefully wrap the events in an interesting plotline that is consistent with other events outside the film.
The film is a cool classic adventure that falls in love with charismatic characters and captivates. A very nice movie that you can watch alone, with a girl, with friends is a great option. Especially well the film will go to those who do not have a foot in the tooth, what is your Star Trek. Everything is clear and clear.
When I decided to watch Star Trek or Star Trek in 2010, I knew almost nothing about the role the franchise had played in pop culture since the 60s. I wanted to watch because of the positive reviews and my passion for Star Wars. I can say that this contributed to the fact that I really liked Star Trek. After all, space travel in the future, the fight between good and evil, charismatic heroes - this is all I love since childhood.
In the not-too-distant future, when space travel became possible, alien civilizations were discovered, the Starfleet of Earth sends ships to study and study them, but at the same time faces alien threats from hostile peoples. Namely, the Romulans are warlike aliens whose representative, Nero, threatens to destroy the planet Vulcan. Starfleet sends young cadets on new ships to help Vulcan. Among them is the Enterprise NCC-1701, led by Captain Christopher Pike, whose crew consists of young cadets with a promising future – cadet James T. Kirk, Vulcan scientist Spock, communications engineer Uhura, pilot Sulu, Dr. McCoy and Ensign Chekhov.
The bet of the new Star Trek was clearly made on a viewer who had never seen either the original series or feature films, or even heard of Star Trek. Although I admit that all the intricacies of the plot only after 2-3 views, but during the first viewing I did not have a misunderstanding. That’s when you review a couple of times, and at the same time read about the original series, when you start to note that the film is still associated with the original series and the heroes of the first generation. But we can say – this is a gift of the creators for fans of the franchise. And for new viewers, the plot develops logically and clearly - the basic things you need to know about the Star Trek Universe are briefly and clearly told. These are space travel on starships, which are mainly designed for research missions, but armed with ammunition and able to repel invaders. These are friendly relations between representatives of different races, as well as hostile with some of them (and iconic in the series). Finally, the relationship between the crew members of the Enterprise, who must work together, leave differences and act together, is presented.
The visual component of Star Trek is presented differently than in other sci-fi space operas. Landscapes of other planets look less futuristic and more realistic, but just as enchanting. It’s an interesting technique – as if the heroes are on Earth, but then you see some detail that indicates the alienity of the area. Especially beautiful looks space and the movement of the ship in warp space.
For fans of the original series, the choice of actors for the role of favorite heroes of childhood was a fundamental factor (as judged by various American sitcoms). In this regard, I was lucky that I did not have to compare the characters and acting, and evaluate everything soberly and without looking at the past.
Thanks to Star Trek, I discovered a very charismatic actor Chris Pine, who played the role of the brave, charming and somewhat crazy James T. Kirk, who does not always play by the rules, overconfident in himself and his abilities, and that he has great things to do. But first he has to prove himself in crisis situations and show what he is worth, as well as learn to work in a team.
The next hero, like Kirk, has become an integral part of pop culture – Spock, performed by Zachary Quinto. A native of the planet Vulcan, whose inhabitants reject feelings and adhere to logic, Spock, the son of a Vulcan and an earth woman, constantly experiences a conflict between logic and feelings. The first and only Vulcan who refused to study at home and chose his path Starfleet.
Watching the birth of the first difficult, but then friendly relationship between Kirk and Spock is very interesting. Completely different Kirk and Spock, even when united by a common goal, share the methods of its implementation, but they slowly and surely take steps towards cooperation and subsequent friendship.
Among the other iconic characters of the franchise there are - Lieutenant liaison Uhura (Zoe Saldana), who has an uneasy relationship, both Kirk and Spock; nervous Dr. McCoy (Carl Urban) and Kirk's best friend; pilot-helmsman Sulu (John Cho), who, despite his mistakes, shows himself from the best side; prodigy, mathematician and navigator Ensign Chekhov (Anton Yelchin); Kirk, the first captain of the ship, who believes in his team ( Peter).
Fans of the franchise were probably delighted with the participation in the film Leonard Nimoy, who repeated his significant role of Spock. That’s the one from the original series. Although he retains the character traits of his young version - logic is above feelings - but admits that sometimes you can do without the rules and more than once helps the characters.
In the image of the villain made Eric Bana - Captain Nero, a fierce and ruthless Romulan, who will do anything to take revenge on the team of the Enterprise.
In small roles, you can also notice Winona Ryder, who played Amanda Grayson, Spock's mother, and also see Chris Hemsworth, as Kirk George's father.
To sum up, J.J. Abrams’ Star Trek is a great movie for a younger generation who don’t know much about the original series and the movies of the 70s, and this film will undoubtedly make us interested. Personally, I won’t say that I would like to watch these series, but I became a fan of the new trilogy. Live long and prosper!
Let's talk about very entertaining science fiction.
Film trilogy 'Star Trek'
Let’s start with what made me laugh.
One writer said, 'In the modern world, the main thing is to deprive the heroes of the mobile phone, because otherwise it will be too easy for them to solve any problem.'
And so throughout the trilogy, we see how screenwriters several times during the film are forced to come up with why the transporter does not work. Otherwise, many problems would be solved automatically.
What is a good trilogy?
1. Actors.
Chris Pine, Zoe Saldana, Carl Urban and more than others Simon Pegg create an atmosphere of coziness and the feeling that you are part of the crew.
2. Humor.
The jokes here are completely different and, in general, standard, but not bad and many work.
3. Picture.
Films are very high-budget and, obviously, graphics, costumes, scenery, color correction at the level. The eye is pleasant to look at the interior of the ship and at the battle of the Starfleet.
4. Music.
The compositions here are great. They are unique, recognizable and memorable. And also support the overall adventure tone of the works.
What's wrong?
1. Dramaturgy. It's a blockbuster disease. The ideas are superficial, the actions of the characters contradict each other, and the heat does not appear by the end of the paintings.
2. The third movie. Separately, I would like to note that the triquel lost a lot not only in the quality of the script. Humor is even easier, the characters are even more boring, the tension is even less.
As a result, the main thing that is in the cinema (scenario) here is made for three, which usually puts on the film the stigma ' However, in this case, some mesmerizing magic of space allows you to enjoy watching. Like a movie for the whole family would be great.
I can’t call myself a devoted Star Trek fan ', knowing all the lore, so to speak, ' from and to' but this universe has always fascinated me. The original series, where the main roles were played by William Shatner and Leonard Nimoy, left a purely positive impression in its time, and it was with him that my acquaintance with this wonderful franchise began. And in 2009, J.J. Abrams decided to remind the world of Star Trek 39, returning Captain Kirk to the big screens. And, I must say, he succeeded.
It is worth saying that 'Star Trek' of 2009, this is not a full-fledged restart as such. Abrams acted more elegantly - the events presented on the screen take place in an alternate reality, and the viewer is introduced to other Kirk, Spock and McCoy. The move is actually good - and new fans to attract, and old leave their canonical heroes. However, J.J. Abrams very carefully updated the images of cult characters, with clear respect for the source.
Captain James T. Kirk is still a cocksucker who loves to break the rules, at times reckless, but desperately brave and ready to do anything to save his friends. Chris Pine took the role of captain, and he fit perfectly into the image. The cold and always logical Spock was played by Zachary Quinto - and again, a great hit. True, the local Spock still turned out to be more emotional than Leonard Nimoy in the original series, but nevertheless he is good. Special mention deserves Carl Urban and Simon Peggy, who tried on the images of McCoy and Scotty, respectively. And if Scotty doesn't look much like a previous version of himself (which doesn't make him bad by default), here's ' Bones'. McCoy from Urban came out as close as possible to the original - the same bubbling pessimist, but still always ready to help his comrades.
Visually 'Star Trek' just beautiful - yet Abrams is an amazing visionary. Incredibly beautiful scenes, chic production, good graphics, the film looks great. Action scenes, in my opinion, turned out to be somewhat ragged, but they cope with their task and make their dynamic contribution to the narrative.
And of course, the tape powerfully beats nostalgia - savors the first appearance ' Enterprise', lures with a classical musical theme and even returns old Spock as a small cameo - Leonard Nimoy has returned to his role.
What do we get? 'Star Trek' 2009 is, in my opinion, not only good fiction, but also its own good 'Star Trek' The new cast is just beautiful, chemistry is felt between the characters, and in such film teams this is the most important thing. Visually and stylistically, the film is absolutely chic, no complaints. Yes, we can only say that the picture does not convey the wonderful atmosphere of exploration, the sense of the discoverer that gave the original series. But still, the format of the Hollywood blockbuster dictates its rules. However - 'Star Trek' the new generation turned out to be high-quality, I recommend you to watch.
Only Star Wars and Babylon 5 are more popular than this franchise. Ten years ago, the eleventh film of the long-running series was released, relaunching for a new generation a story rooted in the distant past. Acquaintance with this story brought not so long ago, and therefore the revision is still hot on the trail. Next, we critique the impressions of the picture and share our thoughts on this.
The plot of the picture is densely involved in time travel. In the XXIII century from an even more distant future penetrates the most powerful ship of the Romulan Empire under the command of Nero. His home planet has perished, and therefore Nero is eager to take revenge on two races, which, in his opinion, did nothing to help the Romulans, although they had every opportunity to do so: Vulcans and Earthlings. For this purpose, he uses a kind of red matter, a substance that turns planets into a kind of black holes. Only the crew of the starship Enterprise, led by Captain Christopher Pike, can prevent the villain. The composition of which, among other things, there are Russian child prodigy navigator Pavel Andreevich Chekhov, helmsman Hikaru Sulu, Dr. Leonard McCoy, communications and linguist in one person Niyota Uhura, first assistant captain Vulcan Spock, as well as secretly infiltrated the ship and having every chance of expulsion from the Starfleet Academy James Tiberius Kirk. They, by the will of fate, will play a decisive role in the battle for the protection of the Earth. The script offers games with a space-time continuum to explain their innovations and illogisms to fans. It wasn’t without them, but the story of the formation of the crew of the Enterprise seemed to me very convincing, the villain is a bit simple, but these are my faults. The script gets a four.
In terms of entertainment, the film completely satisfied me. J.J. Abrams is one of those who takes on potentially boring franchises. You can find similarities with the third impossible mission in terms of non-stop action, ease of storytelling and great picture. When the camera takes the distant planes of the planet or observes space battles, then such shots are necessarily asked for on the desktop, because the shot is beautiful. But what Abrams squeezes through the force for Michael Bay is like two fingers, and therefore there is a risk that the film will not cause emotions, and will not be remembered. In my opinion, everything worked out in this regard. The fighting scenes are good. Plus, in the intense drama scenes, the characters of the characters are better revealed, especially against the background of all kinds of clashes. Visuals and dynamics are scored.
The cast of the picture, in general, does not tire of surprising and delighting. Such a complete ensemble has not been seen for a long time. Although before the start of filming, the average viewer would hardly have thought to link most of the names from the list and a fantastic mega-blockbuster, especially such as Star Trek. Was it possible to expect Chris Pine, the guy from "Kiss for Luck," "Blind Dates" and "The Princess Diaries," to easily get into the lead role of Captain Kirk? It’s so cool that it’s still unknown whose image, a couple of sequels later, will come to mind when you mention the name of James Tiberius Kirk. The same goes for Zachary Quinto, the same killer Sylar from the mega-pop "Heroes", yes, thanks to makeup, in the photos he was almost indistinguishable from the young Nimoy, but then in the photos, and in the movies ... the same story repeats as with Pine. Actors Pine and Quinto are generally lucky, because their characters are better developed than the others. From a couple of episodes of the heroes’ childhood to the finale, they do not change by an iota – the same audacious and rebellious earthling and an emotionally unstable Vulcan. But something. The rest have to get out because of their skills and abilities. Simon Pegg, for example, took a couple of minutes, the same jokes, as well as a funny assistant of unknown alien origin to firmly sit in the heads of the audience. Anton Yelchin had to run around funny and utter the sacramental phrase "Yo-myo." John Cho was not allowed to say anything funny, but instead he took part in a very spectacular fight involving knives and a pair of Romulans. Eric Bana got makeup, changing him beyond recognition, and the role of the main villain; Leonard Nimoy, well, it's Leonard Nimoy - his all-consuming charisma was enough to fill the entire screen, albeit for some miserable couple of dozen minutes. In general, the acting work is able to please. I'll bet five stars.
Music and sound. The composer of the film was Michael Giacchino, who worked on such films as “Coco Mystery”, “Ratatouille”, “Up”. For this film, he wrote heartfelt, epic melodies and there are individual mosaic elements that sound convincing. Atmospheric sounds like the noise of the ship's engine, the sound design of the high-tech interface works for all two hundred. I'm going to give you a hard five.
Verdictating. A piece of the long history of Star Trek, ripped from it literally with meat and blood. Spectacular, beautiful, stupid - choose an adjective to taste. Fans found out what was before, everyone else got another exercise for the eyes. But it is also worth praising Abrams for creating the atmosphere of a fifty-year-old film released on screens with updated special effects. Singer could have done something similar with Superman Returns, but Abrams did it better. The film is recommended for acquaintance to fans of the franchise and lovers of space stories. Good to you all!
I started with Star Trek with this movie. No reason. Here many wrote in negative reviews that after watching the film in 2009 did not want to get acquainted with the universe 'Star Trek' and... I almost fell into this category of people, too. The 2009 film pushed back with its void content. Some shootouts, explosions... without the intricacies of character relationships. After watching the 2009 film, only irritation and bright flashes remained in memory. Nothing else.
Fortunately, then I happened to stumble upon the TV series 'Star Trek: The New Generation' or rather, the series about Data, and fell in love with this series and this character. I realized that Star Trek is not meaningless explosions and pathetic phrases. It is an exploration of the cosmos and the depths of your own soul.
This is the worst thing that could happen to this franchise. The creators had, on the contrary, to treat it as carefully as possible, rather than exploiting it and remaking it beyond recognition. I’ve been very disappointed in cinema lately. Too many special effects and too little meaning. Sad.
To be honest, I have not seen the series “Star Trek”, but I have heard about the exploits of the crew of the Enterprise, as well as about the fact that this space saga became the basis of a whole subculture. At first I thought it would be difficult to get into the topic, but the introduction to the backstory passed without much strain. So, I can assure you, if you, like most people, do not know anything about the Star Trek universe, do not despair, because the new film from the director of Lost, Jay-Jay Abrams, can be seen from a clean slate. Of course, fans of the series will find a lot of references to the original, but all this, as they say, to the amateur. In a sense, the inexperienced viewer with watching the franchise reboot was luckier.
The film tells about the youth of James Kirk (Chris Pine), his thorny journey aboard the spacecraft Enterprise and his emergence as a captain.
The father of the young man died heroically, saving the crew of the starship, but the son was in no hurry to follow in his father’s footsteps until he realized that he was was wasting his life. Having cut off the due date in training, Kirk rigged the test results and thereby slammed the suspension from flights. Nevertheless, the risky adventurer Kirk on board still penetrated and from the first days managed to distinguish himself. Later, Kirk succeeded in fighting a space villain from the future, however, for this he had to seriously fight with the cold and calculating semi-volcano Spock (Zachary Quinto) - I.O. captain of the Enterprise. It’s easy to guess that in the end, opposites like Kirk and Spock will inevitably become friends.
The plot is a little naive. In some places, it is amusing to think about how easy it is to become a captain of a huge ship, and the transfer of captain's powers itself is too fixated on eliminating the old captain from the game. A little overdone with time travel, which in principle is not surprising. I never understood why the guy-inventor was needed, who saw his unwritten equations in the future (perhaps understandable only to fans of the series), but the kid laughs creditably, like his alien companion of unimaginable build.
Overall, the film turned out well. The special effects are clearly an order of magnitude higher than in the prehistoric series. Heroes, though slow, but colorful, and the main villain Nero (made up beyond recognition Eric Bana) is stupid, but sometimes even dramatic.
So, if you miss the good old fiction in the new version with colorful special effects, then you will like the film.
So far, I haven’t been able to watch the original series or The Next Generation, anything related to Star Trek and the movie that came out before. I don't know why it happened, it's just not getting through. Perhaps I was a little scared off by the general rumor that Star Trek is more nerd Star Wars. However, this particular movie I love more than any episode of War.
The film almost perfect beginning - the tragedy on the ship "Kelvin" at the same time perfectly illustrates the local world order, showing the work of the crew of the ship, and introduces into the history of the villain, as never perfectly played by Eric Bun, and shows the birth of one of the two main characters of the film - James Tiberius Kirk. Seeing the bravery with which his father accepts death to save hundreds of people, you immediately realize how difficult it will be for a son under his shadow. And, of course, it is extremely pleasant to see in the role of this brave yet not received the role of the god-thunderer Chris Hemsworth.
In my opinion, the most successful find of the film is the subsequent scenes, which alternately tells the story of Kirk from Iowa and Spock from the planet Vulcan. In both cases, few episodes of the past perfectly illustrate the characters and the world in which they live. In these scenes (as, indeed, in the rest of the film) everything is worked out down to the smallest detail, and even the product placement from Nokia, who clearly did not want to cease its existence at the time, is organically woven into the overall picture. And to hear "Sabotage" from the Beastie Boys is pleasant always and everywhere.
But the subsequent action is hardly worse. There are so many beautiful elements here that you don’t know what to do first. For example, the cast here is simply amazing. Chris Pine and Zachary Quinto create an extremely powerful duo. The relationships of their heroes, changing from hostility to sincere friendship, always believe. At the same time, the tape for its almost two hours (excluding the credits) manages to give each member of the crew of the Enterprise at a memorable moment, whether it is the skill of Sulu (John Cho) in fencing or a workshop teleportation operation followed by the cry of “Yo-myo” from Chekhov (Anton Yelchin).
My favorites among these diverse heroes, I will easily call the ardently pessimistic Dr. Bones (Carl Urban) and the genius-technologist Scotty (Simon Pegg). By the way, here’s another reason why I still haven’t watched the original series: I loved this particular team so much that it’s hard to imagine how these characters will be played by other people. I've heard about the fine chemistry between William Shatner and Leonard Nimoy, but I haven't heard much about the other actors from there. I only know George Takei by name, and I know him more as an activist than an actor. Plus that "Oh My" meme.
Since we are talking about the original source, then I immediately want to mention a detail that makes the film not just a remake, but something really special. As already mentioned, at the first viewing I did not know a damn thing about Star Trek, but even then the idea of a plot about a villain who involuntarily falls into the past and carries revenge there for those who have not yet managed to become his enemies, I found very attractive. When I found out the background that by doing this, the authors kind of restart the story, but in fact make a direct continuation of previous films, I completely imbued them with the strongest respect.
I can’t help but admit that because of this, there are a couple of not-so-thought-out moves and rather unlikely coincidences in the script. Fortunately, for these coincidences—for example, that Kirk is on the same planet as Spock of the future (Leonard Nimoy)—it’s not hard to find specific explanations for why this might have happened. After all, both ships from which these characters were thrown, flew between the same planets. But that there was another character, along with Kirk made a miraculous escape from the planet to the Enterprise – this is, of course, fate. There is no other way.
In addition, a certain irony of authors who always know how to defuse the situation when necessary. Alex Kurtzman and Roberto Orsi at one time were masters of such stories, even “Transformers” more or less pulled. And their work here and even want to call the best in his career.
I think I’ve had enough of this movie. If for some wild misunderstanding you still haven’t watched the second directorial work of J.J. Abrams “Star Trek”, then urgently correct.

Honestly, I don’t know what I expected when I decided to watch Star Trek. I’m absolutely not familiar with this saga, I haven’t seen a single TV series, or a single movie before. I expected the maximum just interesting and spectacular space action movie.
But what I saw shocked me. It's just that the Star Trek movie is so filled with all sorts of clichés and cliches from other movies that it just didn't feel right. Well, look: The main character is a jerk and leads a rampant life, while his father was once a famous person who died in the name of something - a cliché. Legacy”). He, under the influence of one of his father’s friends, enters the place where his father worked and, having shown an unconventional approach, enters. Because of some oversight falls into disgrace ("Divergent"). Then he shows himself and wins authority (also some cliche). I'm sure it would be even more cliché if I hadn't turned the film off from boredom.
I’ve never seen so many clichés in a movie before. I am a person who enjoys watching summer action movies and does not notice the cliches in them, and then I watch the space saga and so much cliché. Is that acceptable? (Judging by the ratings, yes). Maybe because of that, maybe because of something else, but I found the film very boring. In Star Trek there is no magic catching the highlights as in Star Wars, exciting action as in Transformers or something else. In general, "Star Trek" is a boring, uninteresting and clichéd film.

This review will be for the Star Trek movie, directed by J.J. Abrams. To consider all the pros/cons of the film and sum up (from my point of view) I will try, without looking back on the previous film adaptation.
The backbone of the plot is standard. Offended by fate, Nero (Eric Bana) from the planet Romulus tries to take revenge on everyone and everything. Our main characters Kirk (Chris Pine) and Spock (Zachary Quinto), to stop the main villain, will have to overcome many difficulties, including communication with each other. This “backbone” is clear and understandable, so let’s move on to “meat”, but with it there are just small problems. These problems, I think, lie in the fact that it is too “boiled” to introduce all the characters into the narrative and give an idea of them, as if the creators did not have enough timekeeping for this. For example, we are shown the story of the protagonist James T. Kirk, show his character for 21 minutes, then 3 minutes try to show his inner experiences, which, apparently, should serve as a motivation for admission to the Federation Academy, in the end a complete failure. You don't believe in these moments as a hero, not because the actor played badly, but because there's an understatement in his story. Therefore, some points are thought out by yourself, based on your point of view. And so with almost every character. The only one more or less spelled out is Spock, Zachary Quinto. In addition, in some places there are small “royals in the bushes” (for example, one moment on an icy planet with Spock-Leonard Nimoy), which is not critical (although from which side to look, if you remove the “royal” in the example I gave, you could completely change the course of history, but this is only my fantasy). These were the downsides of Star Trek and, in my opinion, they all lie on the shoulders of the director and the writers.
Based on the above, I would have received my “Bone story with problem meat and “bush pianos” behind my back” negative review, if not for his excellent “clothes”. By "clothing" or "wrapper" (whoever you like), I mean the actors who, in some moments, the film still pulled. And good were the actors of both main and secondary roles. Each of them made the most of the scenario. Except that Eric Bana's villain was a little caricatured. Another new “Star Trek” is saved by light humor, a beautiful picture and a great message for thinking about the importance of friendship, teamwork. In this film, almost every character is important, because if not for their well-coordinated work in the team, our main characters would be killed more than once. These were pluses that I got a lot of positive emotions from, and so my rating of the film is 7 out of 10, and it is up to you to watch or not.
Space fiction... I never thought I would like movies like this. After all, many considered “Star Wars” the pinnacle of space cinema, and this “top” did not fall into my soul at all. And for some reason, I decided it was better to expect nothing. But then I came across Star Trek, where the main character is Chris Pine, one of my favorite actors. So, sitting in the audience chair, I gave space cinema a second chance to rise in my eyes. And you know what? I was absolutely delighted with this movie! Everything that makes this film belong to its genre, presented it unique in its performance.
The main characters here can not simply be named from memory, because all who appear on the screen for even a second and say one single line, appear before my eyes as heroes among the main ones. Each character is unique in character and style, so everyone will find someone here to watch this film over and over again. Whichever character you look at, you find in him a familiar and beloved quality. There are no ideals in this film, there is something good in every character, and something that cannot be called such. But in any case, all these qualities sooner or later help the hero to find himself. It felt like there was no set or actors, like someone told us a true story in which the narrator conveyed all the details and emotions. That is, each actor entered the image with his head, and at some points it seemed that the feelings on their faces were not played, that they were real.
The plot is versatile, it not only shows us a chain of certain events, but also manages to reveal problems and show the viewer the truth. There was nothing that was incomprehensible or unexplained. There have been times when the characters are in danger and you certainly know that at the last second they will be saved, but the emotional tension in which the numerous techniques of the film are driven, does not allow you to finally be convinced of this until the very last second.
I think that you should not dwell on computer graphics for a long time, because it cannot be described in words and you can only understand how much it surpassed itself by watching this movie yourself.
I still cannot decide for myself which of the heroes became the main one for me. Looking through the characters in my head, they all seem equally important to me. And, perhaps, this is the most important indicator of a truly holistic and successful film.

I will say right away that this movie changed my mind about fiction. Before watching Star Trek, I liked detectives, crime, fantasy. There was absolutely no desire to watch fantasy. The movies I’ve seen before in this genre I didn’t like.
But everything changes when they come.
Quite by chance I started watching this tape and did not expect anything good from it, and it struck me. From the first minutes, she captivated me with her great plot and great characters, thanks to the actors who did a great job. The plot is difficult to predict, it surprises and attracts. It is impossible to look at such a future without interest. I want to dive into it and is on board the ship Enterprise. There’s also a lot of humor, too.
The film is worth watching, as connoisseurs of the universe of “Star Trek”, and people who have never watched science fiction. The characters are different, but you understand the nature and goals of each of them. With them, you experience failure, and you rejoice in success as your own.
James T. Kirk, performed by Chris Pine, first appears as a cheerful and irresponsible guy, but when he faces serious problems and has to make important decisions, it will become clear that he is an intelligent and brave man. I am willing to risk myself to protect others. A true hero.
Spok performed by Zachary Quinto is half Vulcan and fully guided by logic. Almost without resorting to emotion. The character is interesting and in some episodes you approve of his actions, and in others you do not. I think this is the most memorable hero of “Star Trek”
Pavel Chekhov performed by Anton Yelchin - a young Russian prodigy. Very emotional, but at the same time extremely talented person. He often comes up with useful ideas.
Montgomery Scott performed by Simon Pegg is a brilliant engineer, my favorite crew member. The actor handles comic characters very well, and "Scotty" is just that. Outstanding inventions and subtle humor are what you can expect from him.
Dr. Leonard McCoy performed by Carl Urban is also a very comic character, but performs his duties perfectly. It monitors the health of the crew in any situation.
Conclusion:
Star Trek is an outstanding film in its genre and you will definitely like the crew of the Enterprise.
Their goal is “Bold to go where no man has gone.”

This movie is an explosion for new generations who have never heard or know about the stories of "Star Trek", as well as this picture is nostalgia for all those who love and appreciate fantastic stories from the world of "Star Trek". The old series "Star Trek" are real masterpieces of their genre. They are unique and interesting for the day. In addition to them, there is a bunch of individual, fantastic films "Star Trek", which tell the adventures of your favorite heroes.
2009 marked a new beginning of the stories of “Star Trek” and the creators of this film rebooted the famous story and showed it with new features, special effects and a huge budget. To be honest, I got a huge pleasure from this fantastic blockbuster, and now I want to review all the old films that I vaguely remember from childhood.
The fantastic film "Star Trek" (which has already put two more released large-scale sequels) was shot by Paramount Pictures in the person of director JJ Abrams. The movie turned out to be a delightful blockbuster, giving the viewer an incredible, fantastic story with new faces of all the famous and wonderful heroes of the Star Trek.
We see an alternate reality, and from the future comes a madman Nero with his spacecraft and crew. He longs for the vengeance of the Federation and the death of innocent beings from different planets. Nero begins to engage in merciless genocide, and only handsome Kirk and inimitable Spock, who still do not know each other, can stop him. They get together on a military, spaceship "Enterprise", and begins an incredible, space adventure.
It should be noted that this blockbuster was shot qualitatively and with dignity. It was pretty cool, and it felt like you were actually going into space. The level of the film is high, so everything that happens is pleasing to the eye. Special effects, the atmosphere in the film, makeup, costumes - all this entourage was subtly and carefully thought out. Everything looked great. One of the main tasks was to select actors for famous roles. I think that the creators of this blockbuster for this purpose coped with hurrah.
Before this movie, Chris Pine only knew one role of a young gay man in the film Dorothy's Surrender. Having received the role of Kirk, the actor became famous all over the world and became a star, immediately playing a year in a variety of films. I'm convinced that Kirk's role was his, and he did it with a bang. This character he gave something new, something of his own, it was interesting. My favorite character Spock was played by Zachary Quinto. This role was extremely important. Spock, for me personally, is the most important face of Star Trek stories. When you think about the old series and movies of this story, you immediately think of this character. Zachary Quinto in this film and not know. He was perfect for this mysterious hero.
In the second roles in the female role, it was nice to see Zoe Saldana, who established herself after, as a star of the fiction genre (“Avatar”, “Guardians of the Galaxy”). This actress is a beautiful woman and an interesting person. In the role of the famous Uhura it was nice to see her. In this film, she was the most gentle and feminine personification of her love for Spock. It was fun. The role of the main villain was brilliantly played by Eric Bana. At first I did not recognize him, to confess honestly, somewhere only in the end I realized that it was him. The role of Mr. Chekhov went to the American young actor of Russian origin Anton Yelchin. He was a nice and wonderful actor, it is a pity that he is no longer alive.
If you like science fiction movies or you are familiar with the famous story of Star Trek, then you can safely watch this film. It is powerful and incendiary, large-scale and interesting, funny and rich. It has everything to make the viewer enjoy watching.
"Star Trek" is an adventure, fantastic action movie of 2009 and a reboot of famous history. The movie is cool, and it definitely deserves attention. I appreciated him and told him yes. Thank you and enjoy watching!
Earthlings and Vulcans: A different worldview – one enemy
What is inevitable cannot be unreasonable. (c)
You should know how much I love science fiction movies. For the most part, they bribe with a fresh or extraordinary idea, a virtuoso spectacle and an intriguing story. To the foreground among the paintings of this genre, I put forward those that tell about outer space. After all, one of the main parameters is mystery and a very tense atmosphere. Offhand from such recall the classic trilogy Star Wars" George Lucas, the famous tape Ridley Scott — "Alien" and "Aliens", the same "Interstellar" Christopher Nolan. And many others. But it seems that in this shelf there is an addition in the face of the picture Jay Jay Abrams. Unfortunately, I have never been familiar with the original Star Trek universe, but I do know that it was more than a fitting competitor to the Lucas saga. This picture was a restart of the franchise about the crew of the starship Enterprise. And, apparently, the restart was very, very successful.
With this film, J.J. Abrams was able to please those viewers who never knew the original. Having invited Robert Orsi and Alex Kurtzman to the post of screenwriters, he also skillfully immersed in this very atmosphere inherent in space paintings. Almost all the time when the characters were in outer space, the picture kept me in suspense. Moreover, in any such film, there is some cosmic race in conflict with Earthlings. Here, in addition to this race, there is a certain alternative to earthlings, which are Vulcans. As we all know, it’s hard to tell the truth from the lie or to determine the emotional state of a person. Vulcans have no emotions and never lie. But despite this difference, neither Earthlings nor Vulcans wish each other harm. Although the same Spock for a certain time was considered an outcast, since his mother is a dugout. What unites these two worlds is a common enemy who has long wanted revenge on the Federation of Planets. This enemy is a member of the Romulan race named Nero.
It is very impressive how detailed the conflict of the two main characters is spelled out - Earthman James Kirk and Vulcan Spock. Each of them has a different worldview, but they share the fact that each of them had a very difficult childhood. Kirk spent his entire life without his father, who saved him and his mother's life at the risk of his own. Spock was often bullied for his earthly roots. And it was quite interesting to watch their disputes, squabbles, even there was intrigue about whether they will be able to find a common language. And in general, the characters of the main characters look very well thought out. Like many other characters in the film. A particularly pleasant surprise for me was the image of Pavel Chekhov - to be a Russian, and even not antagonist, it deserves praise. The main message of the tape is presented very competently. After all, with the example of the Enterprise crew, we once again see how important the team in which you work is. In addition, the picture clearly showed that you always need to justify the trust placed in you. Why did Captain Pike take Kirk to Starfleet? He believed in him and taught him that he could do great things.
Perhaps one of the most important, and perhaps even the main advantage of the picture was the visual range. Of course, for any action blockbuster, the visual component is inevitably an important parameter, and therefore the main merit in the development of such tapes belongs to operators and editors. But if in most modern tapes for special effects is lost plot and idea (hello, Michael Bay), then this tape is definitely not to say. After all, here the story is well thought out, and the visual range is incredibly virtuoso. And what else to expect, if the creation of special effects involved true professionals in their field — Industrial Light and Magic. The mere appearance of the Enterprise ship on the screen is fascinating, and when it goes into warp speed, it is completely euphoric. It is impossible not to distinguish the initial and final action series, because the greatest concentration of the spectacle occurs in them.
I was impressed by the very colorful cast. Chris Pine, in my opinion, played the best role. I have nothing against Pine, and I do not consider other images embodied by him unsuccessful, but his Kirk, without exaggeration, strongly hooked me. I was even more impressed by the game Zachary Quinto. Spock performed by Quinto turned out to be alive and believable, for which Zachary is a great respect. As far as the other crew members of the Enterprise are concerned, I think they've all gotten along very well. But especially I was impressed by Zoe Saldana and Anton Yelchin. Zoe Saldana at least does not replay his image from Avatar, and Anton Yelchin more than pleased with his work. I can’t help but mention Simon Pegg, who carried the lion’s share of humor. The main villain in the performance of Erica Bana is magnificent. Firstly, thanks to the skill of Eric, Nero found charisma, and secondly, after the hands of makeup artists, he was not recognized.
It is worth noting how atmospheric and impressive the soundtrack came out. I was not particularly fond of the works of Michael Giacchino, but after this picture I realized that he can create a powerful and tense atmosphere with his accompaniments no worse than the same ones. The music of Giacchino, written for this tape, not only perfectly complements its atmosphere, but is an integral part of it, this does not often happen.
As a result, we get a perfectly thought out picture that aroused the sympathy of many viewers. The film is imbued with supernatural energy, dynamics, entertainment and epic. But that's not all the virtues. The combination of a fascinating and virtuoso visual range and a well-written story just determines the high quality of this picture. I recommend it to everyone and you will not regret it.

Good to see you!
P.S.Space. The final frontier. This is the voyage of the starship Enterprise. His constant mission is to explore strange new worlds, to search for new life forms and new civilizations. It is brave to go where no human foot has stepped.
Based on the cult series of many years, the restart of the franchise looks undoubtedly very spectacular and exciting, thanks to the excellent director JJ Abrams - the creator of the famous series "Lost".
I haven’t seen a single Star Trek series, so I see the film as a less independent piece. And I want to thank the creators for the film, for their work, because they had to satisfy fans and attract a new audience, while remaining faithful to the spirit of the original and adjust to new ideas about fiction.
It became clear that the film is a prequel to the series and introduces us to the history of the formation of the team of one of the most famous starships - "USS Enterprise", which looked impressive and elegant in the film. And the updated version of the cult team of furrowers of outer space looks great in its composition.
Chris Pine is a great character for Captain James Kirk. His character combines rebelliousness and ease, a kind of comic, and at the same time, seriousness, and also resembles the cult characters of Harrison Ford: Han Solo and Indiana Jones. In my opinion, the role of the starship captain is the best role of Chris Pine in a movie.
Zachary Quinto The Perfect New Spock. No one is better than the actor for this role. This is by far the most famous member of the Enterprise team, who is distinguished by his charm, river technique, powerful knowledge, calculated dialogue, catchy quotes. The gesture of the palm with spread pairs of fingers, which every fan of the cult series knows, was naturally not forgotten in this film.
Zoe Soldan played the role of Lieutenant Uhura, chief communications officer, interpreter on the ship. Her character adds to the atmosphere of fiction, action, adventure love line.
Carl Urban, and one of my favorite members of the team is Dr. Leonard McCoy, with his blunt, cynical lines, funny outrages about a situation. A very charismatic character.
Simon Pegg in his comic role, as flight mechanic Montgomery Scott, who is able to fix the already forever broken, and start the Enterprise even if he does not have enough necessary parts. The character is also very charismatic and funny. Most of the humor comes from this character.
Anton Yelchin — Pavel Chekhov. Even Russian is on board, among Asians, Americans, African Americans and aliens. Gunner and co-pilot of a starship, and probably the youngest crew member. Good character, well played.
John Cho - Hikaru Sulu - the main pilot of the starship. As befits an Asian (in support of the stereotype), owns a martial art - fencing. He's a great hero. Perfectly complements the team.
Eric Bana - Captain Nero, the main villain of the film, turned out to be quite memorable and impressive, in fact a typical representative of space villains.
And fans will surely be pleased with a long cameo of Leonard Nimoy, the performer of the role of Commander Spock in the original Star Trek.
Technically, the film is at the highest level. The picture is gorgeous and beautiful, and the sound is quality. The interior of the Enterprise is made as high-tech and futuristic as possible, and in general, the starship came out amazing. The Warp effect is a little fascinating. It seems that the Oscar for best makeup is not enough, and the film deserves another 1-2 technical awards.
Unfortunately, there was no memorable soundtrack in the film, but the main musical theme sounds wonderful in the film and remains in memory for a long time.
Cinema with one of the best teams in history, whose members sometimes throw a cloud of incomprehensible terms, quarrel, love, and friendship. After all, together they are able to get out of any trouble, except that, once again, they will ditch their starship.
J. J. Abrams made the film what a real blockbuster should be - expensive, high-tech, with a fast-moving coherent plot and pleasant characters.
"Space." The final frontier. This is the flight of the starship Enterprise. His unchanging mission is to explore strange new worlds, to search for new races and civilizations, to boldly go where man has not set foot.

It’s safe to say that the reboot of the Star Trek franchise has indeed succeeded. J.J. Abrams managed to make a film for both fans of the saga and ordinary viewers. What is the success of the film?
The whole film is a powerful and exciting journey that does not allow you to take off the screen for a minute. There are so many events in the film that you will have to immerse yourself in this fantastic world. The main characters of the film Captain Kirk and his chief assistant Spock are the most interesting characters with their inner world, which are perfectly embodied by Chris Pine and Zachary Quinton. Of the minor characters, nobody is particularly remembered except Chekhov (Anton Yelchin) and Scotty (Simon Pegg). In the tape I was very pleased with the camera work, which now in blockbusters almost do not see. The visual part of the film is also well worked out - spectacular space battles, decoration of different planets. Make-up artists also did a great job, for which they received their deserved “Oscar”.
Of the shortcomings of the film can be noted insufficiently well-designed main villain. Although his motivation is clear in general terms, but he has very little screen time. The music in the film didn’t please me either. In my opinion, it gave the picture excessive pathos, but only in some places in others it is simply invisible. The plot failed a little, wanted more unpredictability, but for the first film is also very good.
As a result, we have a very strong science fiction film with a simple, but perfectly played plot, with a good cast, but poorly worked out villain. But with a great drive and atmosphere. "Star Trek" is back in the air.
When I first saw the movie, it didn’t make a big impression on me. However, there was something familiar in the title. Carefully reviewing the trailer, I remembered the old series about space travelers, which I watched in preschool on a VCR. Since then, my interest in this painting has increased significantly. I have always loved space movies. So the question of watching this tape or not, fell by itself.
And so I went to see this picture almost on the first day of rental. Overall, I liked the film. But everything in order.
Let's start with the story.
A young man named Kirk is far from a role model. He constantly gets involved in fights and leads a rather loose lifestyle. Kirk meets an old friend of his father, Captain Pike. And he convinces the young man to follow in the footsteps of his ancestor and join the military space forces. There Kirk finds new friends, as well as his complete opposite Commander Spock. Despite the mutual antipathy of the two, it is necessary to join forces to save the galaxy from a powerful new enemy.
The story, of course, is not a revelation. And it's not original. But, despite this, the picture looks cheerful and interesting.
The actors’ performance is at a good level. Although it is not called outstanding, but in general it is quite good.
As in most modern blockbusters, much attention is paid to special effects. Space battles look spectacular and make a proper impression on the viewer.
I would like to say a few words about the Starship Enterprise. The creators managed to transform the old look of the ship in accordance with modern trends. But at the same time, when looking at this starship, there is a slight feeling of nostalgia. There is no doubt that this is the Enterprise from the old series.
The music perfectly emphasizes what is happening on the screen, and from some moments goosebumps run down the back. Although the compositions are not outstanding. It could have been better, but it's not bad.
Summing up, we can safely say that the new voyage of the starship Enterprise turned out to be interesting and spectacular. The film deserves a score of 8 out of 10 plus one for a pleasant sense of nostalgia.
Due to the unpretentious plot and simple, explaining narrative, as well as high-quality shooting, editing and acting, people who are not familiar with the universe of “Star Trek”, long ago created by Gene Roddenberry, this film will still taste and even, perhaps, arouse interest in the entire franchise, which originates from the sixties of the last century, and in which J. Roddenberry. J. Abrams managed to breathe new life.
I've done my best! In 2009, giving to the public and critics just a great two-hour fascinating spectacle, with first-class computer graphics and special effects. But not only these components are rich in this movie.
Of course it's the universe. Originally only on TV, it has grown into something more. I would even say that this “something” is something that can match itself with the macabre scale of the Star Wars universe, also created in the last century by the ordinary dreamer George Lucas. Yes, the world of Star Trek is so big both in cinematic terms and in terms of fan base that it is comparable, in my opinion, to Star Wars. You may not agree with me, but the more than half-century history of both projects speaks for itself.
This film reveals this universe to us without particularly complex and incomprehensible explanations: the way of visual presentation, the way of rare conversations about the inherent religions, doctrines and so on. And most importantly, because of this approach, nothing remains to be understood. That is, the viewer, even little familiar with this universe, immediately delves into the history with interest. And interest is only maintained throughout the film: an excellent action, not florid, "multi-channel" plot, the dynamics of actions on the screen, as well as the beauty of visual design - a lot of work has been done on this, but it undoubtedly bears fruit.
Worked out, living characters, who are just graduated from the academy characters of the series of the 60s, are immediately remembered by the viewer, because they are not expressionless copies of William Shatner, Leonard Nimoy, Nichelle Nichols and so on. Chris Pine, Zachary Quinto, Zoe Salanda and others – all of them present something fresh, give the viewer a new look at the already beloved characters, or only become famous. In general: on this occasion, the picture is interesting to watch both fans and people who have only heard about Star Trek from the corner of their ear.
In general, it is a great fantastic cosmo opera, only ennobling the overall picture of all the tapes of the Star Trek Universe and even more – it is a new look, a new life. I don’t know, I can’t even say that this is a Reboot, because the allusion in the form of one very remarkable cameo directly refers us to the old version, proving that this is a continuation, or rather events, unfolding in a parallel universe (just like in the graphic novel underlying the plot). Therefore, I say that J.J. Abrams and the rest of the cast that worked on the film, complemented the galaxy of film and TV projects with another more than high-quality touch, which then got a sequel, which is clearly not going to stop – I think that’s great.
I love Star Trek, and this is just a balm for a fan. For the average viewer, this is a beautiful adventure film, whose actions unfold in a perfectly shown space. It is easy to perceive, it is dynamic, it has the right semantic components and shares them with the viewer: the importance of family, friendship, faith in yourself and others, as well as the fact that any living creature has feelings without which it simply is not alive.
Yes, maybe it has some illogicalities or "royals in the bushes." However, this is characteristic of tapes of this kind, I apologize for the tautology of character - they entertain and report to the viewer the main idea of the plot, telling also some moral and moral dogmas, and all this unfolds in many ways different from our world, thought out and large-scale. Therefore, I think that mistakes can be forgiven, and I recommend watching the film, especially for those who appreciate high-quality fiction, worked out huge universes, dynamic action and fascinating, truly vast space.
P.S. I remember Star Wars for a reason: I think J.J. Abrams made a worthy sequel to the original paintings, a proof or refutation of this we will see in December. Thank you very much.
The second part of Star Trek, which I really liked, inspired me to watch this part, which hooked me even more. Now I understand the many fans who loved this film and raised it to a cult. "Star Trek" will please even not special fans genre of fiction, which I belong to. And in general, the film, which conquered the hater of fantastic blockbusters, deserves the title of the legendary space franchise! Since I first watched the second part (which I regret), keeping the chronology of my viewing, I will compare the first part with the second.
Young charming hooligan Jim Kirk, who learned about the feat of his father, who was the captain of the spacecraft for 12 minutes and managed to save 800 lives, inspired, decides to follow in his footsteps and enrolls as a cadet in Starfleet. So begins his adventure, which marked the beginning of a great friendship with one of the representatives of an alien civilization, as well as great discoveries and achievements.
Star Trek seemed to me much better than the sequel. I'll explain why.
Firstly, in this part, the audience gets acquainted with the main characters. Accordingly, their identities are revealed in a much more complete way and their characters are more pronounced. In it, we learn the origin of Spock and here Kirk becomes captain. The plot is aimed primarily at reflecting their inner world, especially Spock, who was given a minimum of screen time in the sequel and who was pushed so that I, a person familiar with the universe of "Star Trek" from the second part, really did not understand what he was.
Second, the birth of Kirk and Spock's friendship through certain peripitations. I don’t know if this was the case in the original universe, but it’s a very interesting move by the director. Such dissimilar personalities, Aki Yin-Yang, simply could not do without complications and conflicts in communication. Their confrontation is very exciting to watch. Rivalry that grows into strong, true male friendship is my favorite storyline. Spock and Kirk complement each other in sharp contrast.
Thirdly, special effects in quality are not inferior to the sequel, but in number they are much less, as well as actiona. I consider this to be plus. This is the main point of interest here.
"Star Trek" filmed qualitatively and on a large scale. It can be characterized, albeit banal, but fair epithets: exciting, fascinating, spectacular, impressive. The plot is saturated with events and action from the first minutes plunges the viewer into the whirlpool of events, from which there is not the slightest desire to break away. A bright colorful picture showing the beauty of the cosmos pleases the eye. In any other film, I’m not a big fan of all these fights, battles, fights, shootings and battles, but here they are filmed and shown so amazingly that you can’t look away.
Actors and characters.
Jim Kirk (Chris Pine) is a Starfleet Academy cadet. Brash and brazen luck. Despite his undoubted leadership qualities and ability not to panic in stressful situations, in some moments he is simply lucky. He always gets away with it. The most frivolous trainee on the ship, who got on him thanks to his antics, has great ambitions and appoints himself captain and takes command of the Enterprise into his own hands, only because others were afraid to take responsibility. Kirk performed by Chris Pine directly radiates cheerfulness from the screen and charges with his energy. Excellent image.
Spok (Zachary Quinto) is a native of the planet Vulcan with a unique origin mixed from the union of a Vulcan with a man. With the appearance of a Vulcan and the soul of a person, and therefore has a dual nature, Spock struggles with an internal conflict in which human feelings are opposed to emotional unresponsiveness. As a result, he himself removes the powers of acting captain, thanks to whom Kirk becomes them. Zachary Quinto perfectly fit into this role.
True, it was not without the minus in the film, which includes the absence of a worthy opponent for the Enterprise team Antagonist, in which it is difficult to recognize Eric Bana, does not stand any comparison with the colorful Khan from Star Trek: Revenge performed by Benedict Cumberbatch and looks very faint. Next. Illogical moments. Director JJ Abrams, who in "LOST" got confused with time travel and was not happy that he started it, here again used a similar move, because of which some points remained in question. Spock’s unbreakable calm at meeting himself was also somewhat wowed. No surprise, like he's talking to his alternate version every day.
In general, the film Star Trek is a worthy representative of the genre, in which even humoru was found.
P.S. I watched for the sake of interest the original series - "This is some other film about a spaceship," fans of the series will say and will be right. Heaven and earth! Quite different images.
I've never seen a movie in this franchise before, although I love fiction. And then one day there was a TV series, which, as it turned out, my wife watched with pleasure in her youth, although I do not consider her a fan of fiction. So I got interested and asked her to watch the 2009 Star Trek together. We were also joined by my 6-year-old son (a lover of Transformers and Fast and Furious, also interested in space) and we enjoyed watching him.
Quite a fascinating story, as a young guy - a bully, in fact, falls into the Starfleet, despite the fact that he was not going to follow in the footsteps of his father, who died in battle as a Starfleet captain. The fun life of the protagonist now continues with adventures in space. And how he likes to break orders and instructions and get into trouble!
I liked the story itself, how fate can change under different circumstances and how much our decisions can change.
The film deserves high praise and will be interesting for lovers of adventure and fiction.
I'll watch the sequel.
A truly chic reboot of one of the most famous science fiction sagas in the world. Although I have never been a special fan of endless series, even I am pleased with the careful attitude to the canons of the series. J.J. Abrams managed to highlight in the series the main ideas preserved in almost pristine form. And at the same time, he removed too old moments.
The plot of the film captures from the first frame. It is especially gratifying that we are shown the lives of the main characters even before they get into the crew of the Enterprise, this allows us to better understand their subsequent actions. The topic of time travel is not new to fiction, and attempts to explain the movement of a black hole is no worse, and somewhere better than other factors. And in general, in this film, time travel is catastrophically necessary for a reasonable restart of the franchise. The only not fully understood point is the motivation of negative characters. Their hatred is justified, but the execution of revenge is too sophisticated.
The cast, despite the small number of famous actors, really felt the characters. Captain Kirk performed by Chris Pine impulsive, cheerful and open person. Zachary Quinto conveyed the feelings of Spoka Trying to forget about his dual nature. Carl Urban magnificently played an experienced physician, serious in work and cheerful in personal communication. Perhaps the only character I didn't like was Lieutenant Uhura. Zoe Saldana made her an ordinary careerist and hysterical.
The picture tightly captivates your eyes to the screen. The action in the frame is constantly changing. The staging of star battles is bright and at the same time thoughtful. Ground battles are not so amazing, but look hurried.
So the Star Trek reboot is definitely an event. It can be considered successful or unsuccessful because of the interpretation of the plot. But it's definitely worth seeing. At least to make a personal opinion of him.
In the shelf of quality fiction arrived. The man who was entrusted with the revival of the Star Wars franchise fired from a blaster, punching through the thick skin of a covered hatch, behind which a imprisoned child languished, who wanted only one thing - to turn another fictional journey into reality. In the reality of his own imagination, where he will save the world, all the princesses, and at the same time fantasize many fascinating plots.
Being familiar with the original universe only through the mise-en-scene of The Big Bang Theory, I expected absolutely nothing, doubting the cultism of anything on the basis of cultism alone. So I was pleasantly surprised.
Having introduced the main characters - the rebel James and the notorious apathetic Spock, having previously intrigued by the hype, the director threw the viewer into the cycle of events. I expected the development of characters, scenario twists and other gentlemen's set, but the characters were simply barred on the Enterprise - the local Black Pearl, and sent to the end of the film to perform one mission. Controversial decision. From the pluses can not fight off – “Star Trek” spins its head, rushes at superlight speeds and injects a concentrated dose of adrenaline directly into the heart. On the other hand, the integrity of the team’s adventures is hard to trace. It’s fun, of course, to watch live action, teleportation, and perpetual teasing, but when space seems compressed to the limits of a small room, the degree of seriousness, oddly enough, seriously decreases, negating the dramatic component. The inner child, who at first cried with delight, having learned a new concept - aftertaste, quickly cools down, returning to the beloved worlds. The disadvantages are probably exhausted.
Otherwise, I want to sing praises. And not just because I'm a Sylar fan. Zachary Quinto just looked strange to a fool. But he played great, almost making him believe that he is not a maniac who is only waiting for the opportunity to seize other people's abilities. But you can't fool me. And the rest of the characters were colorful: the team outlined under the curtain inspires faith in unrestrained fun, bordering on questions about the fate of the world. The picture is no less pleasing - well, what did you think, the future as nothing. And if you put all the successful solutions in a pile — forgetting about other logical blunders, from a child born in a matter of minutes, to drilling rigs that no one thinks to touch, while they, of course with peaceful goals, dig to the center of the planet — and set fire to it, you will get a great spectacle.
Ahead of us are waiting not only sequels and new jokes of geeks from the above series, but also sweet dreams of interstellar travel, bright characters, sharp turns and incredible speeds - from the plot, to the most ordinary, which are the division of distance by time. And that's cool. Time to go.
Star Trek is one of the longest and most popular franchises in film history. The first full-length film about the crew of the starship Enterprise was released in 1979. It was followed by a series of sequels. They gave this story a cult status. However, gradually interest in the franchise faded. Each new film brought less profit and more discontent of the audience. After the box office failure of the film “Star Trek: Retribution”, which was released in 2005, the bosses of the studio “Paramount” realized that it makes no sense to shoot a sequel. The franchise almost died, it died, and not naturally ended. It was simply abandoned, finding it economically untenable.
However, a couple of years later, the studio decided to return to its biggest saga. It was decided not to remove the continuation of the failed "Revenge". Instead, the story was directed in a completely different direction. In the director’s chair of the restart sat J.J. Abrams earned a name for himself on the cult series “Lost” and “Edge”.
I’ve watched all the movies in this saga. They were good, but none of them conquered me, did not make me truly empathize with the main characters, clench my fists with excitement and review these pictures time after time. However, with all these tasks coped with “Star Trek” filmed by Abrams.
The fact that the plot contains time travel allows you to perceive this film separately from all previous ones. He seems to be laying a completely different course for this story. In all the films that preceded the restart, the viewer immediately saw the crew of the Enterprise as a friendly, coordinated team. Never on the big screen was it shown how the crew came together or what conflicts they went through before becoming one. This is exactly what Abrams did.
In this picture, we see how the entire crew of the Enterprise came together and even, albeit briefly, we see what the main characters were before they got on Starfleet. This gradual familiarity with the characters allows the viewer to better understand them, and therefore more empathize with them. When I saw old movies, I felt like there were only two people on the ship: Kirk and Spock. The rest of the crew did not carry an important plot load. In the Abrams film, everything is completely different and this is a definite plus. There are many memorable and interesting characters in this picture.
Kirk (Chris Pine) is a person who doesn’t seem to take anything seriously. For him, life is one great adventure. He can break all existing rules, but at the right moment he is able to make difficult decisions and show true heroism.
Spok (Zachary Quinto) - is completely different. He respects the rules and, like any Vulcan, hides his emotions deep inside. At first, a global difference in characters prevents Kirk and Spock from finding common ground, but this is only at the beginning. Quinto perfectly conveyed the cold logic and seeming emotionlessness of his hero, behind which a bright soul and a kind heart are hidden.
Bones is a close friend of Kirk's. A doctor who fears space, but still serves in the Starfleet. I really liked the character, as well as the actor who played him.
Scotty (Simon Pegg) - I'm really excited about him. This character exudes so much positivity and humor that it is simply impossible to resist smiling.
Uhura (Zoe Saldana) is a strong, intelligent, strong-willed girl. She fits well into this motley company and adds femininity and charm to it.
Sulo (John Cho) - I remember this actor from the TV series "Remember what will happen." It's nice to see him in a big Hollywood blockbuster.
Chekhov (Anton Yelchin) - Anton is a young actor who gives good hopes. I am glad that his career is slowly creeping uphill. With the role of a charming Russian prodigy, on board the spacecraft, he coped perfectly.
That's how the company got there. This variety of images and characters makes the film very interesting.
The film is replete with funny humor, spectacular action, excellent actors, charming characters and fascinating plot moves. All this does not allow you to take off from the screen literally not for a second.
P.S. This film is like a breath of fresh air for this franchise and I hope that this breath will last for a long time.
10 out of 10
"Star Trek" - the cult American cosmooper, carrying a scientific research character, fought for a place in the front row of the audience's heart, with the "Star Wars" themselves, which beat the number, raked off the quality, and lost the primacy to the creation of George Lucas, is reincarnated on screens in the form of a retro-cosmo bullet shooter. Throwing the research plot into the background, J.J. Abrams takes as a basis the projection of the modern army into space. The development of technology has pushed the boundaries of the studied space to earthlings, brought civilization to the interracial arena. Civilization has found new friends and new enemies. To stand firmly in the arena, earthlings forgot about international competition. The Earth fleet consists of people of different nationalities, however, the country produced the film, determined the overwhelming composition of the earth's army, however, one Russian man, still took part in events of interstellar scale. But the aliens in Starfleet seemed too much, like an African soldier in the Russian army.
JJ Abrams is not without humor, action, drama and adventure, builds the career of James Kirk - the future captain of the Enterprise. The director reads the recipe for the birth, although not perfect, but still a hero, from the moment of his birth in an emergency, through preparatory stages, up to participation in blockbuster events, along the way demonstrating his outstanding leadership qualities: dedication and faith in a masterpiece in a bad scenario. "Star Trek" also serves as an adaptation of the proverb "one in the field is not a warrior." As partners Kirk, given a character completely opposite beliefs. Completely and completely relying on logic, common sense and rules, Spock is a necessary addition to Kirk, so that young viewers do not perceive Kirk's recklessness as an outstanding quality. The union of Spock and Kirk is an allusion to the mutually beneficial cooperation of hands and heads, and the cinematic embodiment of the truth that unreasonable force will have to harm itself, and one intelligence in war is useless.
The absence of well-known persons allowed to direct resources to the visual component. The scale of the tape is supported by outstanding, in quality and quantity, visual effects. "Star Trek" sketched the outlines of a large-scale epic saga. We can only hope for the stability of the resources of the film studio, and the audience interest, the creators are provided for many films in advance.
Star Trek, Star Wars is a whole era, whole worlds in the world of cinema. A long-standing dream to conquer the space frontier, the space programs of world powers that have already begun, the achievement of the technique of the level of complex effects (at that time special effects were for people, as now for us “Gravity”) made these tapes successful and memorable. And now, when it is profitable to restart, come up with backstory, the fiction “Star Trek” comes out on the screens.
This movie is actually the best fiction I've ever seen. Unreal ships, aliens, black holes, wart speeds. To me, such films succeed because people are interested in seeing what does not exist, what is only in dreams.
There are no very deep philosophical thoughts, but there are moments when it is worth thinking: can you, like Captain Kirk Sr., sacrifice the most dear for the common good, can you not cowardice in a situation when much is expected of you, can you not act with cruelty for cruelty?
The cast of actors does not raise questions. The performers of the roles were not particularly brilliant, but there is nothing to blame them for. I can single out Zachary Quinto and Simon Pegg. The first played a serious and calculating Spock, the second played the opposite character, but no less intelligent Scotty.
Special effects, combat, sound – all at a high level. Music somewhere evokes sympathy for the heroes, somewhere calls for courage and heroism.
Generally speaking, J.J. Abrams did his thing, the film was a success and is definitely worth watching if, of course, you are a fan of fiction. Evaluation:
By the time of my acquaintance with Star Trek, I was already quite sophisticated in films of such subjects, behind were the sensational Star Wars, the pilot series of Babylon 5, which seemed stuffy to me, did not impress me, the infamous respected Doctor Who, something else and that is why Star Trek was for me the only and unique, a real cosmic epic. Although I expected to see a very flat, colorful Hollywood canvas, I saw a real film where there is a place for faith, and philosophy, and the laws of physics.
What's unique about it?
To begin with, all Star Trek heroes have souls. If in Star Wars their motives were ultimately reduced to a simple dualism of the Light and Dark Side, then here they are not so unequivocal, they are not primitive. It does not show the ridiculous races of Babylon 5, where a female eats a male after crossing - the director and the screenwriter clearly distinguish between animals and beings of a higher order. The Vulcan race is unconditionally respected, they are not living robots without emotions, they have emotions, but they are very much muted, nevertheless, they have their own culture, their own irrationality. Earthlings are not shown here at all ' the kings of the universe' as this is often observed and this is good.
The lack of primitiveness in motives of actions - even Nero is not driven by a banal thirst for power (as in all low-grade blockbusters), but by resentment, a thirst for revenge, he can be understood. You can also understand the actions of young Spock, the actions of Kirk.
The realism of the Star Trek Universe is, of course, the laws of physics are very strange here, but here you will not see as ridiculous battles with lightsabers in outer space as in Star Wars, look more interesting, because the world laws of the world are not fairy tales. Particular pleasure was given by the dynamically presented technical systems of the Enterprise - front shields, spare valves, parachutes, drills. They are all given not in some dead form of something present, but as vulnerable parts of the ship, requiring quick attention and ingenuity.
Of course, now no one is surprised by the expanses and dynamics in the film, but it is in Star Trek that it carries with it, again more than in Star Wars due to teleportations, black holes and other beautiful, but logical things.
Character color. All the main characters are colorful, have a bright personality - both Uhuru and the first appeared quite original and adequate Russian Chekhov, a funny alien next to engineer Scott, and he himself. In short, with such a team will not get bored.
And finally, the plot - I will not reveal it, and tell you what incredible twists were present in it. . I can only say that the snowy wasteland that opened up before Kirk gave rise to many assumptions in my mind about how events would turn out. And none of them were confirmed.
Of the drawbacks in the film, I would still note the encounter of the two Spocks in some part of the film, which simplifies the theory of space-time travel a bit, although this is a completely subjective view of such travel. I also note, nevertheless, some inevitable cliches inherent in films of the genre - the main characters can not unlearn & #39; hang & #39; on the fingers, which they do quite often, from my point of view even too often. The music in the film, of course, is inferior to the famous music of Williams from Star Wars, but at the same time it can not be called unsuccessful, and therefore this does not apply to the disadvantages, rather to insignificant advantages. After all, music cannot be neutral, it or its absence is an important link in any film.
In conclusion, I have never seen a more profound and compelling film about interstellar adventure!
Oh, it's good that I first saw the movie before I saw the original. I even liked him in some places. I only noticed a lot of them when I looked after them. You will have to divide your own opinions into “without taking into account the original” and “taking into account”.
So, the most unpleasant thing is the new incarnation of Kirk. Now fashionable in-every-barrel-plug Pine infuriates himself with his sweet face. In the now fashionable creepy lenses that for some reason insert all the heroes-for-girls in modern films, all the more so. His inability to play is a legend. Who's playing? A nasty, arrogant, narcissistic, unrestrained boy who considers himself the navel of the earth. Which one is the captain?
Looking at TOS, I want to add that saddened by the loss of the beautiful, the color of honey, the shade of the eyes of the original Kirk-Shetner. And his interpretation of the image is very sad. Kirk was really arrogant and narcissistic. But at the same time charming and able to control themselves. But thanks for the reference – the original Kirk cheated on the Kobayashi Maru test in exactly the same way.
Better than the new Spock. Quinto has beautiful eyes, dubbing the voice of his velvet, plays quite a level for a box office modern film. An attractive character, curious.
Given TOS, yes, of course he's not Nimoy. And it's not green. But another interpretation of his dual nature—more contrasting than that of the first Spock—is not to be rejected. Quite "frozen" in the norm (here, however, not so much of this norm is shown, in the plot he almost immediately gets stuck in tragedy) and quite mad when it breaks, it is also interesting. A reference to the animated series in a childhood scene is exactly the same trinity of hooligans. A love line with a new Uhura (here's who doesn't look at all) is quite possible for this alternate Spock. How do you feel about this piece of ice?
A few more references: the everyday form is a tribute to the original. Jampers look alike. The dress -- well, they were more elegant. But, man, gray jeans don't equal black breeches! Do Pine and Quinto have ugly thighs when they are hidden from our eyes under the loose cover of their pants? Hobby Sulu - fencing, this is a cool reference to "Time to nude"!
And to the main gift to fans of the original. The main reference-to-all references, of course, is old Spock. “I have always been and will always be your friend.” Nimoy accepted this small role, beautiful! Without viewing TOS, the line with it passes by attention, and taking into account the original, it almost breaks a tear. What it is like to see Jim, in his reality has long since died, and here - a young, stranger, who if and will be a friend, not him, but another. Spock?
All right, enough nostalgia for the original, back to the alternate reality. There are good things besides references. "Throwing Spock's mother will kill" in both versions, very funny Scotty (does not look at all), the first scene of kissing with Uhura - unexpectedly and quite delicately. Although it is unclear why this couple did not burn the whole film so thoroughly, and in the final decided to come out.
But there are bad ones. Uncool master villain. None at all. What "taking into account" the original, what without - some other coolly moved roof avenger all-for-all. On a miner's ship, suddenly with more weapons than the entire Starfleet. There's a lot of grand pianos in the bushes -- yeah, the new Spock so precisely popped Kirk into exactly that point of the planet where he was waiting. And the fact of doing so is, um, illogical. Yeah, except for Kirk Spock and there is no one to change (and Kirk is also personally interested in the problem, his father was baked neatly by the efforts of Nero). Vulcan and Earth have absolutely no orbital defense and warning systems.
Of the technical disadvantages - the inability of the operator to handle scenes of hand-to-hand fights. They don’t play almost everything except one. But he’ll learn for the second movie – it’s cool. It’s a bit of a drive, but the director will get better for the second film. Bad voice of Chekhov in our dubbing.
And anti-science somehow even a minus shame to count. Was it a little different from the original?
In general, the film is a little twitchy, some hasty, but with a lot of unnecessary episodes. There is a lot of action in the final, but for the lack of drive, he is rather tired. The second film corrected a lot of things. I liked the second movie much more.
