The shadow of the film, but not the film itself. The original film is called Croc, presumably short for Crocodile. First of all, you want to get a crocodile. And if it's a horror movie, the crocodile has to eat people and they'll hunt him until they kill him. But when you watch it turns out that this movie is about anything, but the theme of the crocodile attack here has one of the smallest places in the plot, and it is implemented disgustingly.
Yes, at the very beginning they showed a crocodile attack on fishermen who used dynamite to fish. That's what they want. And then the action of the film goes in other directions, and if you miss this beginning, you can not immediately understand that this movie is about a crocodile killer. The plot revolves around the difficult situation with the zoo and businessmen who want to cover this zoo to do their business. The main character of the film works here with crocodiles and other animals, and does not want to lose this job. Of course, businessmen here materialize on the screen in the form of evil villains, ready for any tricks to achieve their goals. They are allowed everything, they can even wave guns right at the nose of policemen, threatening unarmed people if they stand in their way. They can even send people to release crocodiles from the zoo at night, and then blame it on the incompetence of the institution, which, since predatory animals escape from there, poses a danger to civilians. And how they got caught up with crocodiles, because on the beach there is a tragedy - a young couple hugged themselves almost to the chest in the water, and there is a crocodile, take it and swim to eat both (the predictable element is not a spoiler at all) in sight of witnesses. Businessmen realized that such a case can be attributed to those crocodiles that are pets of an unprofitable zoo, so they weave their boring conspiracies. And then, when the crocodile sometimes (rarely) will eat people, it will be hunted, and even a crocodile hunter will appear, wanting to settle scores with him. But such cases will be at the very end, and while the mission to track down and destroy the predator has not entered the main stage (the one where they do not talk long and tediously, but swim into the monster’s lair), we have to watch how evil businessmen spoil the life of an honest zoo worker. And you have to suffer because of a “love story” between the friend of the protagonist (or is he his nephew after all?!) and a local girl. And all this is unbearably bad.
The heaping of plot decisions does not make the film complete and dramatic, but only to fill the screen time that is allotted to the film, the creators of which are not able to tell the story and think within its framework. And the whole story about the infringement of honest people by bad authorities is described very vaguely, tortured. And it takes too long. This is suitable for a militant or a criminal, and only if it is qualitatively done. But not as here, where this element should be auxiliary, if it is needed at all in a horror movie, and the lion’s share of all the time it clearly dominates, preventing you from concentrating on the main problem. And the elements of the tragic death of people, firstly, are few, and secondly, again inconclusive. And while you watch this unbearable boredom with annoyance, you already think that a couple more minutes - and patience will burst, I will press "stop". But to hope that all the boredom of the film compensates for the element of horror, is not expected. The crocodile is shown here, as far as we can see, in three ways. The first is stealing footage from BBC documentaries. And even if the viewer did not see those in the eye, you can see that the scenes of the film itself and these other people's clippings are very contrasting - they are from different works, and you do not need to pay special attention to notice it. Way two is stuffed. It is rarely used, so there is nothing to say. It's just bad. And the third is cheap computer graphics, which contrasts with genuine shooting no weaker than the episodes stolen from informative films. The crocodile is terribly bad. What about violence and blood? Watching an effigy attack people is not scary, and the blood does not work properly. Self-self, can not do without morony with wild exaggerations. For example, when a person does not notice that a crocodile six meters long climbed into the pool. So all the "crocodile" episodes do not save an already dead situation. The fact that events take place in exotic places does not solve anything. The film has no mood or atmosphere. Nature doesn't please the eye. The script is incredibly slurred and boring. As if invented either from a complete lack of the ability to think, or to plunge the viewer into a state of wild disorder.
In this absolutely talentless creation, which is not able to tell his story and show anything, for some reason plays Michael Madsen, known for his roles in famous films of the highest category, for example, “Kill Bill”. This is a reason not to hit “stop” when it gets really bad. And another reason not to die of boredom - the zoo will show live crocodiles. Thank you for that. But in general, the film is not good for anything. He pretends to be criminal, zoo-horror, and even adventure, but nowhere does he provide anything tolerable. Terrible. I haven't seen all the killer crocodile movies, but I've even seen Crocodile 2:. The list of victims looks very good against this background. It’s best to watch “Lake of Fear.”
