David Carradin as Kung Fu I suggest we talk about the '70s. Do you think anyone was serious about films with charismatics of the past – John Wayne or Elizabeth Taylor? Time has changed dramatically and many new idols have appeared in fashion. One of them is Bruce Lee. It is with his persona and popularity associated with the history of the series “Kung Fu”. Bruce’s absolutely stunning success made American producers look for more than pastel stories about Mata Hari in Orientalism. They took a risk and bet on a series about the Wild West, which turns out to be a monk from Shaolin. Of course, Bruce Lee was invited to the lead role. But he did not pass the casting, because his eastern appearance seemed to the producers unnecessarily incomprehensible to ordinary Americans - consumers of this TV product. Therefore, on the horizon appeared the candidacy of another lover of martial arts – David Carredin.
To say that for David “Kung Fu” was the finest hour is not to say anything. He took his chances to the fullest. His mystical and contemplative vision of the world perfectly fit into the framework allotted to the main character of the film. The fact is that in each series he is forced to find himself in the “skin” of the fathers of the founders of the United States and fight against lawlessness. The fact that David will be stronger than his rivals is predictable. But he added such true and uncompromising wisdom to his hero. Well, as for plasticity, watching Carredin in this tape is a pleasure. Therefore, if you like Kill Bill, I recommend a little look at his alter ego.
