Elementary, Winslow! It is a pity that this pilot never turned into a full-fledged series - I would love to see the adventures of Victorian Sherlock Holmes in the modern (at that time) world. It could have been a beautiful thing.
It also looks good in the form of a movie.
The idea of a “frozen” detective, although used before, still looks fresh. And not a very serious presentation only goes to the benefit of the film.
Holmes turned out in some places harmful, in some places arrogant, sometimes touchingly unhappy, sometimes funny, and in general just wonderful.
The main advantage of Winslow is that it is Winslow, that is, a completely new character, and not another or another Watson. It is clear that the functions she performs the same (what to talk about – she even profession has not changed), but still the character is completely different than that of Dr. Watson, and the change of name miraculously removes all questions.
What kind of secondary characters! No worse, and in places and better than the main characters. Even a left-hander, who was at the strength of five minutes, makes an unforgettable impression.
As a result, it turned out quite right to life and not the worst variation on the theme of Sherlock Holmes, which you can watch for the sake of cheering up.
