This series was filmed by the Latin American branch of HBO. At the moment, two seasons have been filmed, but in the Russian translation there is only the first, which was very well translated and voiced by amateur enthusiasts. The second season has no voiceovers or subtitles, in any incarnation.
As an avid fan of HBO’s creations, after watching almost all of their drama series, I couldn’t miss this one. The fact that “Epitaph” is not very well known, at least in our country, you can not find very many reviews for it. But the ones that caught my eye were extremely positive, and for the most part, even enthusiastic and surprised that such a strong project was ignored by the majority.
Well, it was a great disappointment when I realized that I could not share these emotions with others. Moreover, this is not just a medium and superficial series, of which HBO does not have so many, but, dare I say, disgusting and stupid.
In my humble opinion, Epitaphs is one of HBO’s worst creations. This is a completely ill-conceived and uncomplicated detective, of which there are millions, if not more. Those who film everything. I think you know what I mean. There are giants of the genre, there are just decent work, and there are those meaningless and bad films in which a blunder on a blunder, a mismatch on a mismatch, where there was no attention to the details. What about the details, even the main storyline is so lame that the viewer is forced to watch until the end only some personal ambitions or goals. "Epitaphs" are just their numbers. The only thing that made me look at it to the end was the thought that it couldn't be so bad. Since all the lines in terms of the plot suffer so much, maybe I'll see something different here. Perhaps, as it happens, after looking to the end, I will look at this creation differently. Maybe there is something in it!
But no. If you notice how stupid the development of events from the very beginning, you can safely delete it and do not regret anything, because further, all the negative qualities of the series only progress, and reaching the very end, reach unprecedented heights.
The visual component of “Epitaph” is rather slippery and ordinary. Nothing remarkable, but nothing to make you look away. Acting does not cause any sensations either. Neither positive nor negative – everything is somehow so average in technical terms that there is nothing to talk about, in fact. The only thing to note is the work of the composer. It was he who, in my opinion, did his best. It is thanks to his work that at least some atmosphere is created.
So, to sum up, I am puzzled by such high ratings, such flattering reviews, and such a talentless creation. And finally, again, it's one of HBO's worst drama series, if not the worst.
