He's not just a thief, he's a detective. Film Henri Diaman-Bergé “Arsène Lupin Detective”, / Russian translation “Arsène Lupin” /, filmed on the book by Maurice LeBlanc “Barnett and Co. Agency”.
To our attention is another elegant detective story about a noble and elusive robber, or simply an ordinary thief, Arsene Lupin.
Henri Diaman-Berget is a French director and screenwriter. He studied law, then moved to the cinema, /published books and a magazine about cinema /. He worked in the film industry for about fifty years. He made over thirty films.
The beginning of this story was preceded by a robbery in the house of actress Olga Vauban, Suzy Prim. The thief broke into the door and didn’t seem to take anything, all the jewels, including the expensive necklace, were in place. To investigate an unusual crime, Olga Vauban turns to Barnett & Co., where she hires private detective Jim Barnett, aka Arsene Lupin, /Jules Berry /.
After a while, Olga Vauban's husband, Monsieur Arnoux Bichoux, commits suicide, again, seemingly. It seems like a crime has been committed.
And two more important details, work in the Barnett agency, all thieves, and the chief of police, the ex-husband of Olga Vauban, Bech, / Gabriel Signoret /.
The first thing that I would like to note is that it is in this film adaptation that Arsene Lupin’s charisma, sense of humor and ease of relaxation are exactly like this, / or almost like this / and represent him from the book, /more like Arsene Lupin, to date, as I can not find /.
As for the film in particular, since it still has a literary basis, I will try to maintain a middle ground.
I do not agree with everything in the interpretation of this literary character, but at the same time I must recognize something in him, who knows him, who and in what circumstances life can put, and who and in what circumstances will be able to remain, even if not noble, just a decent person. Everything is relative, except decency is natural.
The idea that a criminal can be a good cop, in the sense of using gang skills for the benefit of society, is not new, even I would say, beaten to the point of being impossible. Time has even expanded the idea, we've all heard of snitches, informants, police werewolves. Forensic, that's a bit of romance, you can't listen to it. The human factor, I'll tell you, is the second side of the personal coin, if you can define it that way. We live with wolves, we eat like wolves.
Books of this kind, / I mean adventure genre /, come before you gain life experience, in youth for romance is not always possible to see the realities of life, /because any story, even the most unreal reflects life /, and age in many ways gives the opportunity to correctly assess the life situation.
And now, as you get older, you watch a movie based on a book you read as a child, and then you would relax, drop the burden of everyday life, feel younger, but somewhere instead, in the back of your soul, you draw parallels. Between himself and the main character, between those and these times, between the social system. You can't say you're going to take something too useful out of it, no, it's too naive, too simple, /witty, yes/ and nothing new. The attribution of time changes, the human essence remains unchanged. A person is weak, he wants everything at once, he is always dissatisfied with everything, he easily goes to deceive his like in the depths of his soul, justifying this act with the highest justice, not agreeing with the fact that he commits a crime. Committing a crime, he talks about a just society, about how to organize this society, how to eradicate crime. He should start with himself, and he talks about higher matters. We all know it, we’ve all been there.
In order to solve a crime, something higher is necessary than the study of facts, deduction, logical reasoning and other nonsense.
© Maurice LeBlanc "Arsene Lupin - noble robber"
Even such a small quote, one of many, might not have paid attention to it before. In order not only to solve the crime, but also in order to understand life, you need something higher, you simply will not achieve anything, just so no one will respect you. Just like that, nothing ever happens. Something higher, it still needs to be reached, both physically and morally, and it is still unknown how.
To understand the gradations of thought of both the author and the director, and in your thoughts, to see the smallest halftones, to understand barely perceptible hints.
For example, a hint of how to correctly set your priorities in the turmoil of life.
