Found this film in the filmography Jin Gu, and then also Zhi Hoon there I saw ... in general, I decided to watch, although the description seemed to me very, very strange.
Still, we watched this film for Kim Jae Wook... we know him as one of the employees of Cafe Prince from the drama of the same name. I never squeaked from him at all, so he passed by.
And yes, there is also green A In, so there are just a bunch of acquaintances.
Some contradictory feelings after watching... I liked the thriller part, the detective part. Comedy - in some parts. But I can't watch gay kisses and jokes about it. Very rarely I do this, so because of this moment, the impression generally blurred.
And in general, I have been lucky lately for things shot on manga. I don’t really choose it, so it happens. My favorites like to play in this way.
Best film adaptation of "Confectionery" or "Ladies, do not pass by"
Do you think to mix in one film all genres: comedy, drama, melodrama, thriller, crime and musical? So masterfully combine the incompatible and implement ideas can only South Korean professionals. All of a sudden, “Confectionery” will pleasantly surprise you as the only film in its genre of such a high level on all counts.
Actors (aka models): This is where you understand what Tor Model is and how it works. Nice tone of voice. Perfect looks at the camera and generally any movement, up to turning the head. And how the clothes sit on impeccable figures with the posture of aristocratic athletes! Everything feels the upper class and it is impossible to take your eyes off the picture on the screen. The main characters are very technical, the musical numbers are performed perfectly.
Fatal Gay (Min Su): just ah... fatal to all hundred, exudes pheromones and gets the main prize of my personal sympathies.
The second prize of personal sympathies was shared by the owner of the confectionery, a boxer and a clumsy thug in dark glasses.
I will also note the work of the director, screenwriter, operator, responsible for the selection of actors, make-up artists, costumers, designers, and in general all involved.
Huge plus for smart, thin and some kind of gentle stem. Dialogues and phrases stretch and use.
Positive. Good. Really funny. Really dramatic. There are several ideas (one of them is about selfless help). Beautiful. Interesting. Entertaining.Enhancing. It's like a Christmas story. It causes a feeling of tenderness and happiness. Makes you smile. Perfect.
In general, I am not a fan of the products of Asian culture - manga, anime and drama. Often these things seem strange and incomprehensible to me ... with their sometimes inadequate, overly exalted characters, unreasonable actions of these heroes and downright unexpected development of the plot. But this film and the anime of the same name were very much liked.
A good movie about four young people united under the roof of one confectionery. As usual, the types are as different from each other as possible: an ever dissatisfied and rude owner; a gay confectioner, charming any man with a half kick; a bullying and hooliganistic “garson”, who likes to get the owner and shy and cute ... whether a bodyguard, or a companion, or a permanent headache. Gays should not be afraid, they are not the main thing here, although the lion’s share of jokes falls on the “devilly attractive” pastry chef and his orientation. What's important? It's complicated. In the cocktail "Antic" mixed light comedy with serious drama, a detective story with romantic twists and turns, and to the surface sometimes pop up thriller maniacs, loose schoolgirls in corrugated skirts and musical numbers. But it all gets along surprisingly well! Nothing seems superfluous or draws attention to itself.
For me, “Antic” is a film about friendship (though at first you can’t say that, and the feelings of some characters are far from friendly). It is always possible to change yourself and your life - to turn from a boxer to a pastry chef, learn not to be afraid of women, start living independently or let go of your past. Living with memories is not an option. That with the free or involuntary help of another person really cope with a lot. It is doubtful that such important thoughts are present in Korean entertainment cinema, isn’t it? But they are there. The beauty of the film is that it is light and light - if you want to search not necessarily, enjoy the sight of appetizing cakes, roll your eyes at cute main characters and laugh at good jokes and stupid situations. “Confectionery Antique” will leave behind only a smile and a good mood.
Why do people want cake in their happiest moments? I’m not sure, but life can be a cycle of pain and bad memories. Maybe that’s why people crave sweets when they’re happy. Since life is so bitter, we try to make it sweeter than joy.
- Jin Hyuk, now you're okay when I hug you.
Hey! You can talk to the girls now.
- Maybe they're guys? (c)
For a story that should have been quite unpretentious, the film turned out to be extremely large-scale and exciting. It causes only positive feelings and does not confuse homosexuality. You can say that you almost do not pay attention to it, completely focusing on a more entertaining plot.
All these beautiful cakes and cakes cause great excitement. You can’t look away from this beauty. Honestly, the kind of baking turned out to be even better than the charismatic cast. They are incredible, I do not deny, but goodies still win this battle.
I don't know how you can make something like that out of ordinary history. The beginning is simple - a gay man confesses his school love, but he is naturally rejected by throwing a cake in the face. Unwarranted trick, as for me, you can't throw cakes away. After that, the two characters meet again. They changed: a gay man turned into a cheerful and funny young man who knows a lot about life, and his former love remained rude and obese. I expected a tragic, or at least dramatic, story about them, but it was much more confusing.
Yu A In, who coped with his role completely and completely pleased throughout the film. Such sparkling feelings, actions - he became the most beloved hero. Smart and calm at certain moments, audacious and boyishly naive the rest of the time.
The film didn’t just surprise, it kept on for two hours, and its finale kept a smile on its lips for a long time. It seems comedic, but sad, funny, but informative and, of course, delightful, like all these cakes flashed in the frame.
Only the Frenchman was upset - I don't like them, and especially him, but this did not affect the film itself.
“With the world on the thread” – such an association arose after watching “Antic” Confectionery. No, do not think that it is in a bad sense, on the contrary - the most beautiful.
There’s so much in this movie that you just don’t know where to start. There are the traumas of childhood, and disappointment in life, and gays, and destroyed dreams, and the condemnation of violence; and comedy, and drama, and a little thriller, and something from a musical.
It seems to me that the picture is best characterized by the phrase said at the very beginning, about a bittersweet life. "Antic" confectionery leaves the same aftertaste. And it seems like a comedy just watched, but it's a pity how there were heroes.
I love the humor of this movie and its comedy. But it seems to me insanely strong the moment when the boxer-sweet tooth, who had to leave his favorite sport, without hesitation, prefers boxing to the most delicious sweets in his life. I really like the brightness, some shocking film. But how to touch the moments of despair of the main character, how you want to empathize with him.
I honestly don’t know how many times I’ve watched this movie. One thing is for sure: a lot. When I am not in the mood, a certain apathy attacks, I always review the Antik Confectionery. When viewing it, you do not want to sob in your voice, but the picture makes you think, and the mood rises somehow by itself.
It's charming, beautiful. The definition of “kawaisky” perfectly fits almost all dramas. Such a worldview among the inhabitants of the East. This film is no exception to the rule.
And it begins with a turning point that determines the future lives of the heroes. Nothing new, and most of the movies start like that. In our case, this moment was the cake thrown in the face.
Several years pass, and in front of us is the confectionery "Antic", in which Chin Hyuk - the owner and part-time worker of all trades, Min Song - a brilliant master confectioner, frightening women and driving men crazy, apprentice Ki Boom, with a sad fate and boundless love for sweets and Soo Yong, a childhood friend of Chin Hyuk, his bodyguard and something like a nanny.
A series of funny, curious cases mixed with sharp fragments of the past of each of the characters. This is one of the characteristic features of the films of the East – all the characters will have either a sad past or a terrible skeleton in the closet. They will tell us everything, even in five minutes. Of course, minor characters are given little time, but on the other hand, Western films do not have such a feature at all.
Wonderful OST, wonderful actors, interesting plot - what else is needed for a good movie?

I don’t know why, but when I chose a movie to watch, I often came across this film, but I postponed it every time. Despite the fact that the roles are familiar and beloved actors, something forced me to wait with him. Maybe it scared off the plot, maybe it was waiting for the mood, but something always got in the way. Finally it happened, there was no way back, and I sat down for a look.
The first thing I learned to myself is that one of the main topics is the relationship of representatives of sexual minorities. Also, don’t take all the distracted moments seriously – the horror stories of little Ji Hyuk, it’s better to see him as his little boy saw him, or a song about cakes that looks like a scene from a musical. It’s just something that will distract and entertain you. It's a very different story. Namely, the relationship of these four guys, through which they rediscover themselves.
So the story is already known to many. Kim Ji Hyuk opens a small confectionery, for which he hires the best professional - Min Song Woo. But such a thing, Ji Hyuk himself does not tolerate sweet things, and Son Woo turns out to be gay, and even the same one who confessed to him in school and to whom he threw a cake in the face. But, school love is a thing of the past, and they are already adults, so despite the frank banter about the orientation of Son Woo, friendly relations still develop. Soon, they are joined as a waiter by former boxer Ki Bom, who just loves sweets and dreams of learning how to bake cakes. And Ji Hyuk’s former bodyguard, the silent “cloaker with mezzanine” who constantly drops and spoils everything, is Se Yang. As the plot progresses, the guys rub each other and reveal their secrets, many of which are not as harmless as they seem at first glance.
Playing actors is what kept the screen, forcing you to closely follow the plot. Joo Ji Hoon - how fun it was to watch him. On the one hand, it seems to be a selfish nuisance, often mocking the orientation of Son Woo, but on the other hand, there are deeper fears hidden in his soul. In addition, having become friends with the guys, he feels lonely when Song Woo is offered to return to France. Kim Jae Wook - looked at him with pleasure, perfectly fit into the role of a beautiful gay man. And how great he made his cakes, reminds me of his other role in the First Cafe Prince. Yu A In - saw him before in the role of a fashion designer, the actor himself has not yet liked, but his hero was very much even to the place. Cho Ji Ho is a smart girl, fell in love with this actor since the Time of the Dog and the Wolf. It turned out to be such a cute hero, despite his appearance, and perhaps because of her. Imagine a guy with the appearance of a gangster, with a tie and a cute pink with ruffs apron. And how he was embarrassed or upset when he did something wrong. It was a big child with a clean soul.
OST. All the music was in place and reflected the action.
I liked the film, despite all my prejudices against it, I watched it with pleasure, I think I took a risk somehow and reconsider the mood when I want to laugh and again enjoy great dialogue.
The film turned out warm and gentle, as one of those wonderful numerous pastry works of art that we have the pleasure to observe throughout the picture.
It is impossible not to mention the beauty and even magnetism of the main characters. The visual series, thanks to wonderfully sweet cakes and no less sweet actors, catches and penetrates into your heart with roots. And when the viewing of the film is already over, it is only necessary to recall the light, fragrant atmosphere of the Antik Confectionery, as immediately the secret wonderful feelings of love, passion, tenderness, peace ... and happiness open in the soul.
Boldly recommend to view, because a piece of this "cake" should try everyone!
