'Library' this is a fairly cheap and in every sense mediocre adventure film, which surprisingly evokes exceptionally warm feelings.
A simple story about a guy who is chosen for the post of Librarian (that is, with a capital letter), can not boast of special originality. In many aspects, it is secondary and clichéd, even if there are good finds. For example, the very concept of a secret library vault, where the most famous artifacts from human history are stored, a secret order guarding this most forbidden section are interesting ideas. But unfortunately, the lore of the film is not disclosed to the proper extent, although there was scope for this.
From the point of view of what is happening ' The Librarian' this is almost a classic adventure film, except that in everything you can see its budget. Cheap graphics, cheap staging. All this somewhat spoils the impression of the picture, but still 'Library' surprisingly atmospheric and lamp film.
But you can praise the cast. The main roles are starring Noah Wiley and Sonya Walger, at first glance absolutely inappropriate types of each other, but nevertheless playing good chemistry. By the way, we can say that ' Librarian' in a sense ahead of time - the duo of a strong woman and a weak man probably looked at least unusual in 2004. The company of the heroes was Bob Newhart and Kyle McLaughlan - not the last names in the movie.
Verdict: 'Library' despite its shortcomings, a very fascinating and pleasant sight. It’s a great adventure movie to spend the evening on.
Adventure tapes have always caused delight and mythical interest. A mixture of myths, legends and legends with reality cause euphoria from the quest, from the search for a solution. “The Librarian” is a trilogy that introduces a new hero with clues to ancient legends. The picture modestly introduces us to the main character, very budget shows fantasy, but manages to intrigue with new locations and dangerous tasks.
Before us slowly presents the story of a student botanist, who is not distinguished by anything remarkable except knowledge. The library in the film is very surprising and promising. There is a feeling of a trick, everything seems too soft, faded. Acquaintance with the new position of librarian quickly develops, as the authors were eager to move on to adventure. It was quite unexpected to meet Professor Proton (that is, Bob Newhart) as the curator of the library.
The mix of adventure with magical elements was not connected. Just tune in to interesting artifacts: Pandora’s box, Excalibur’s sword, the Ark of the Covenant, as the hero goes into all the magical artifacts. The name speaks for itself – we will look for the spear of fate (in the Temple of Destiny, ringing the eggs of fate). As soon as we are told the story of librarians, you already know who the main villain will be. The picture is gaining momentum already during the search, showing the bad guys and an ally who actually went in search of the Island to Desmond.
In the course of the story, we are faced with world-class discoveries, watching the change of the protagonist. The constant feeling that something is missing is a bit repulsive from being completely immersed. On the one hand, a dangerous artifact that should not fall into the wrong hands, on the other hand, everything is given simply to the heroes, and events develop rapidly. Only the plot deals with the location of the next clue, as the heroes immediately with their own eyes! Primitive! In one episode, there were only assumptions, and after the screen gluing, the travelers have already arrived at their destination.
A villain with a template plan to take over the world, action for justice, fleeting doubts of the hero about the loyalty of assistants and a key battle for the artifact. In addition, a love line, which, in principle, developed quite well. In general, the "Library" brought a simple detective, led the viewer through a couple of important locations and added excitement from mythology. These are not the conspiratorial mysteries of Dan Brown, nor the government’s dark affairs of “National Treasures”, this is a children’s adventure that does not tire, delights with the connection with legends and stands on the side of good.
Flynn, a perpetual student, tries to find a job, and soon receives a letter from the Central New York Library. After an interview, the guy learns that his new job is not just to follow books. It turns out that under the library there is an underground vault in which Pandora’s box, the Ark of the Covenant, Excalibur and a lot of other mythical treasures are hidden from everyone. They have to be protected, and at the same time collect new ones. The first test falls the next day: the power-hungry Serpent Brotherhood steals a fragment of the Spear of Destiny from the dungeon. Only three fragments, who unites them, will gain power over the world. And Flynn has to stop him. And will help him in this useful business tough girl Nicole with a strange surname Nobody and extensive fighting skills. . .
In short, we have another clutter under the "Indiana Jones" & #39;. And full of stupidities and blunders like the waltz in the Mayan pyramid. Operator's job is nothing, and the dialogue sounds something like this: ' You're so clumsy that you can't die normally!' - ' But I danced with your girlfriend!' And that's beautiful. Seriously, a movie that was bound to be bad turned out to be one of the best fantasy comedies in history. Everything happening on the screen thrash is not annoying, but amusing - simply because the film does not even try to seem serious. It's one big joke and nothing more. Directed by Peter Winter, it seems, well understood that the budget of the film to the level of the same 'Jones' or 'Lara Croft' does not reach, and copying them in full seriousness is pure suicide. So I made a formally bad, but cheerful action movie. The Indiana Jones movies work the same way. Their other secret is good actors. And this Winter also understood: the actors in 'Library' perfectly selected. You can see that they have fun and that they can play. Thanks to Noah Wiley, Sonia Walger, Kyle McLachlen and the company of actors, template characters come to life and become recognizable, and their cardboard looks cute, not annoying.
39 The Librarian is a film that could be bad if it tried too hard to be good. But he found a way to success - he became just a fun entertainment craft, stupid, but soulful. If you don’t expect more from him, he will be good.

Today I want to share with you my impressions of the adventure trilogy “Library”.
A total of 3 films were released: In Search of the Spear of Destiny (2004), The Return of King Solomon (2006) and The Curse of the Judas (2008)
It doesn’t take seven inches to realize that the idea is borrowed from his older brother, Indiana Jones. In general, films of this genre of treasure seekers can be counted on fingers. In addition to the above, you can add, except that “Pearl of the Nile” and “Roman with a Stone” (Michael Douglas and Kathleen Turner).
There. The popularity of Indiana is understandable. And why did the "Library" - a bright representative of the low-budget Hollywood echelon - so zip me?!
It's simple. It's a non-commercial movie. All 3 films were released for TV, so there can be no complaints. No box office commitments, no rebuke from moviegoers, no bitter reviews of film critics.
No one was going to cut money and lure them to movie theaters. The series was shot for viewers, so it came out very cozy and homely.
Maybe the scripts are not the most intriguing, and the actors are not the most stellar, but is this an indicator for a good movie? !
I want to talk about the actors separately.
The main role of Flynn Carsen is played by Noah Wylie - a very charming and pleasant actor (who received for each film the award "Best Television Actor" of the Primia Saturn), as it could be, fit into the unobtrusive scattered image of his character. And among the secondary actors there are such faces as Kyle McLocklan (agent Cooper – Twin Peaks), Stana Katich (star of the series Castle), Bruce Davison (X-Men). Casting worked perfectly: all the characters fit perfectly into the overall picture and plot.
Most captivating is the successful “replay” of actors. Yeah! Replaying is one of the directions of acting (used everywhere in the theater). Almost every character is a little bit different. And that adds to the ease of the series.
As a result, there was a great light fun adventure movie for home holidays with tea and buns.
From the secret vaults of the New York Public Library stolen a magical artifact - a fragment of the Spear of Destiny. Librarian Flynn Carsen must return it at any cost and find the remaining two fragments before the villains take possession of them.
I love horror movies and adventure movies like Mummy and Indiana Jones. Therefore, I decided to watch a series of films Librarian, and I will say immediately the film looks easy and interesting, an excellent addition to my collection of films.
Noah Wyle is the main protagonist of the Librarian film series. Flynn Carsen is a polyglot, treasure seeker and just a good guy with witty jokes, well, how can you not like such a charismatic hero? With his knowledge of history, technology and methods of struggle, he can get out of any difficult situation and trap absolutely unharmed.
Sonya Walger- Nicole, a pretty girl of the main character, and as always happens in such cases, she is strong, invulnerable and very cool, in general, can stand up for herself.
Kyle McLaughlen — Wilde, the main antagonist of the picture is strong and intelligent, and with such an assistant as Kelly Hoo, he could do everything, he was unlucky in one way he appeared Flynn Carsen.
Bob Newhart is the curator of the library, an intelligent, omnipresent and omniscient man.
Another plus-twisted plot, in the center of which is a mysterious library collecting ancient artifacts and mystical values (spear of fate, holy grail, etc.). It seems that you understood what is what, but in an instant new rapid plot twists appear, presenting new secrets and their intricate solutions. This is undoubtedly the advantage of such adventure films, the ending of which is difficult to predict.
Another advantage of the picture is its entertainment and colorfulness of the picture, the variety of shooting places, the beauty of local landscapes, which give local legends and myths a special calarite.
"Library" is intended for children, teenagers and for those who are tired of action movies, and who want to see an easy adventure comedy. Undoubtedly, the film is one of the best representatives of its genre, along with the aforementioned series of films Mummy, Indiana Jones. I would definitely recommend it.
Fans of films about “Indiana Jones” or cult, fantastic films “The Mummy” and “The Mummy Returns” will be attracted by this family comedy with a taste of fantasy called “The Librarian”. This first of the three films is titled "In Search of the Spear of Destiny". Compared to the above mentioned films, this movie is neither large-budget and box office, it is television and more simple and childish, but it is not without some charm and interest. To be honest, it was nice to see it.
This is the story of Flin Carsen, the eternal student. He has 22 higher educations, he is already over thirty, and the hero still lives with his mother. All he can do is learn. Circumstances force him to go to work, and he is taken as a librarian to the New York Public Library. Here he learns incredible things, becomes the keeper of mystical treasures, and in the end he has to save the world from villains, and hold the spear of fate in his hands.
The star of the cult, American television series "Ambulance" handsome Noah Wiley plays a major role in this film. He is best known by the name of Dr. John Carter. Wylie is a good actor with a pleasant appearance, and as a librarian it was unusual and interesting to see him. He plays really funny, and Noah gave his hero charm and something soulful. His character is the heart of the film.
The movie itself is more childish and will not appeal to everyone, but it is cute and funny. This adventure action movie is family, and it will please the youngest viewers. The trick is that Wiley plays very funny and attractive. Perhaps, if you were wrong with the main actor, then the movie itself would fail, but Noah Wiley plays so funny and infectious that the film itself looks willing.
"Library": in search of a spear of fate" is an American, television, adventure action movie with a taste of fantasy and comedy in 2004. The film is kind and easy, funny and cute, childish and with a touch of magic. I recommend it to young viewers neutrally. If you are a fan of the actor Noah Uyali, then safely watch this movie, his character Flynn will amuse you from the heart. Good to see you!
After watching The Librarian, I naively thought that if I compared it to Indiana Jones, I would make a mistake. I read the reviews and realized that such associations were born, most likely, every second viewer. And if the masterpiece about a guy in a hat with a whip is presented with a high-quality hologram, then the story of a guy in hoodie clothes can be compared only with cheap cardboard decorations.
It's nice that the filmmakers have shied away from the temptation to make the librarian not only highly intelligent, but also technical in combat like Jones or Lara Croft. Noah Wylie did well in the role.
I want to note the star of the TV series “Twin Peaks” and “Sex and the City” Kyle McLaughlen, who perfectly turned into an attractive villain. I'll stop at that in praise.
The picture does not hold on to 2004. Absolutely! The early '90s is yes! The win-win, always relevant plot of adventure fiction requires a more thorough study of details, special effects, staging tricks and scenes with hand-to-hand fights, to which I have a special claim, because they are improbable, weak and clumsy.
The lines and actions of the female half of the film are mysterious, if not ridiculous. I was not distracted from watching, but the residue of misunderstanding that arose from them remained.
In short, “The Librarian” is worth attention, if all the rest of this has already been viewed to the holes, and the replicas of the main characters are memorized. If not, then, without a doubt, it is better to once again enjoy Jones, Mummy or Lara.
Out of pure curiosity, I look at the second part with one eye. According to all the laws of the genre, it should be completely incomprehensible or, conversely, the fruit of work on errors for the first series.

Perhaps no one can doubt that the most popular adventure franchise of all time is the famous “Indiana Jones”. With the end of the original trilogy, in 1989, the audience did not lose interest in archaeological stories and expected the release of new paintings in this fertile genre. Unfortunately, few projects could even approximate the fame of the famous Professor Jones, but Hollywood never abandoned its attempts. In 2004, two films were released, designed to return adventure to a high artistic level. The first is the much-hyped and expensive Treasure of the Nation, which the producers sent to attack the movie rental. Well, the second picture was called "Library" with the subtitle "In search of a spear of fate", hinting at the possible origin of the franchise. The same project was primarily intended for television, as well as later release on home video. Since the film was released bypassing cinemas, the budget is accordingly small. In addition, television projects have always had their own special aura, which is achieved by specific camera work, editing gluing and soundtrack, which do not look on large screens. But here I want to make the "Library" a compliment, because this TV movie turned out to be much better than expectations and watching it is really interesting in relation to many brothers.
So, the plot of the film tells us the story of the eternal student Flynn Carsen (Noah Wylie), who successfully receives his next higher education. Unfortunately, tired of him, the faculty decides to teach the hero a new lesson and sends him to the world of real life. And here comes the main question – how to find a good job? However, it resolves itself when Flynn is invited to the Central Library for an interview for the post of librarian! Of course, our hero is brilliantly tested and gets a place in the most magical place in the world. The library is not only books, but also a secret bunker, where famous ancient artifacts are stored - the Ark of the Covenant, the sword of Excalibur and others. That’s what Flynn should protect, and also to get new ones, so that they do not serve the greedy goals of the villains. So the first task of the protagonist will be the search for the Spear of Destiny, which is going to take possession of a dangerous gang of world criminals, led by a hidden genius.
The main character of the film was played by Noah Wylie, famous primarily as a permanent member of the acting group of the series “ER”. His image, Flynn Carsen, in many ways tries to resemble Indiana Jones, but with its own characteristics. We do not try to present him as a truly all-knowing scientist without fear and reproach, but show a little awkward, a little modest hero who keeps a huge baggage of knowledge waiting for the long-awaited application. The only thing a little annoying about the hero is sometimes too long clowning and fantastic clumsiness. However, in general, this does not spoil Carsen too much, because from the very beginning we understand that we will watch the adventures of an adult child. And so that Carsen himself is not too tired of us, memorable secondary characters are introduced into the film. The librarian’s direct boss will be a Judson, played by veteran Bob Newhart. He can be called a kind of tracing dean Marcus Brody from the same “Jones”: an older friend who introduces the main character to the course and becomes the subject of decent jokes. Unlike Brody, Judson is a more serious character with a little bit of magical support whose origins we don’t know. We don't know for sure in this movie. It is also worth noting that any adventure without a beautiful companion. She became a certain Nicole Nobody from Sony Waleg. She is designed to compensate for the ignorance of the protagonist in martial arts and is his bodyguard. And an object of romantic interest. And the main villain this time played Kyle McLaughlan. And the choice was not accidental, because Kyle’s career has long prevented him from claiming big roles in an expensive movie, but the charisma and stateliness of the actor still deserves special attention. So the filmmakers decided to play on the contrast and show the confrontation between the awkward Flynn Carsen and the impressive Edward Wilde from McLocklen.
As for the general dynamics of the narrative, the film looks quite interesting and with each new scene you get carried away with the story more and more. The places of action were also pleased – huge museums, boundless jungles, waterfalls, lost temples. The only thing frustrating is the use of cheap computer graphics in a number of iconic scenes. The creators of the film took too much scope for their film, forgetting that the budget at their disposal is quite modest. And scenes with fantastic effects can not be taken seriously, which greases the overall impression.
In conclusion, I would like to say that The Librarian: In search of a spear of fate, among television adventures stands on quite high positions and is capable of captivating. Of course, this is a very childish in spirit and naive movie without unexpected plot twists, but it can entertain its viewer without any problems.

Unfortunately, 1 review/review on this site will focus on this unfortunate film.
Actor composition is not very happy, there is no point in writing about it as it is visible in the film's cap.
Striking the naivety and stupidity of the film, the film resembles a love walk in a couple of days in nature with children's / flat-not funny jokes. The mind of the protagonist copied from many adventure films causes a smile. The very nature and meaning of the film are not clear. The book of bird language, which managed to decipher half the flight in the plane. After the episode with the jump from this plane, I wanted not to waste my free time, I will not talk about film blunders and weak computer graphics.
It is clear that without elements of fantasy, such films are not interesting to watch, but still there is a clear overkill.
If you prefer to see an interesting adventure, then I do not recommend watching a movie. It is more suitable for fans of dumb comedies.
