What could be more American in a film — except that it was filmed in this country — than another superhero saving his country? And if this superhero looks more like an inconspicuous guy from the next entrance and uses for salvation not fists or minigan, then he just has to become a role model - dear children, be loyal to your homeland to the bone and do not dare to believe that someone can doubt that the government is not acting for the good of his people, even if the opposite is undone and put in your mouth. It's simple, clear and flat. And boring – maybe not for the Americans, because still our education and mentality, despite all the attempts in the past, although they tried to bring together, but we still somehow closer overseas heroism of another type – to save a girl, to give a bad guy a face, and not at all the one shown in this film.
The slacks and inconsistencies just cut your eyes. The tracking station for the most important and expensive satellite is located in the desert, has no security and only two dispatchers and is not even locked - of course, everything is done so that everyone who is not lazy can go there and do everything they want. To me personally, it reminded me more of the abandoned broadcasting stations in Fallout than in the modern world, even superficially very similar. The Holy of Holies of Houston is not at all like a place where everyone knows their business and performs duties without prompts - a feeling that everyone was recruited only yesterday and each of the persons involved in this room did not even have time to read the job description. Astronauts at the start are dressed in light uniforms, apparently even to buy decommissioned spacesuits from the creators of the money was not enough - if the previous two points of blunders can still be believed, albeit with a great stretch, then the latter can not notice only the child. A good half of the film consists only of such misunderstandings.
If with the scientific component – we do not forget, we still have a movie with a cosmic bias – everything is so sad, then maybe with the plot itself a little more fun? Alas, the only bright moment was the very beginning with a clearly executed operation of terrorists, and then, as the main actors enter into business, neither the few chases nor the even smaller shootouts save from yawning. When watching more than once or twice came to mind the film Peacemaker with Dolph Lundgren, the benefit of the main action revolve around the captured important object. But if in the Peacemaker there is a tightly tied plot, and charismatic actors, and a considerable amount of drama, then in the Battle for Space - alas and ah. The final was also not happy, after everything that had to go through so easy to accept – no, not happy with this ending at all.
The main character had no sympathy. The showman is the most accurate designation for him, he thought that he was the smartest of all and stared at his eyes with surprise when his pathetic attempts to correct the situation disappeared in vain. Just as frankly no were the other persons involved – at least tried to pretend that they understand what I am talking about, and not stupidly pronounced the text, which, I am not surprised, they were shown behind the camera on a piece of paper, not everyone, of course, but some could. Were they recruited on the ad? It's not the first time they've appeared on camera, judging by their profiles. Of all the good was only one, even if the years already take their toll, and the director, it seems, had no idea what to do with such a gift, but Miles O'Keeffe, in sporting terms, completely dominated the field and won from all without exception colleagues on the court in one goal.
Many not too good films happened during his career to translate Yuri Serbina and a lot is yet to be done, but this film even he did not manage to make at least a little better than it really is – probably because the dialogues were not of the worst quality initially, but what can a translator do when there is such trouble with the visual and plot component. 2 points for the film and 2 points for O'Keeffe in total give
