Patrick Swayze is beautiful in all his work. The actor plays like he breathes. He is courageous, strong, courageous, angry, punishing. It's gentle, trembling, sensual. I would like to see more films with dances in his performance - he is very good at them. And in life - this is his main creativity. Dance on the same stage with Baryshnikov and ' not by the water', and the main parts are expensive!
After the films 'Dirty Dancing' and 'Ghost' it seemed that the role is still definite. But here comes 'Wong Fu, with thanks for everything...' And it's a shock. I read reviews of men who say that at first it was disgusting - transvists, etc. The same feeling I felt - fi, what a nasty thing. But it's slowing down. Wesley Snipes as the colorful 'girl' looks interesting and convincing. But Patrick Swayze! It is something incredible, without any sloppiness or crookedness, without forging a woman, but as if it had actually become her. But what kind of woman - how much nobility (not a drop of gem), intelligence, aristocracy, sense of proportion, tact, restraint, style! The woman looks about 40 (Patrick is 43 at this time), but she is so charming, beautiful, slim. At the right moment, punishing the husband of the landlady of the apartment for mistreatment, he beats him quite malely that he rolls out into the street with a cubicle. Again, Patrick is an elegant woman. Here John Leguizamo with his breaking and vulgarity irritated and until the end of the film caused vomiting, like all transvists. It was a fake girl. Maybe it was intended. Who knows? But overall, the film is funny, kind, and Suezi is amazing.
One of my favorite movies. Bright, funny, kind, after viewing there is a pleasant aftertaste and an indispensable desire to see again.
The trinity of drag queens goes to the annual transvestite contest. But an unexpected turn of events forces them to stay for a while in a backwater town. Life there is boring and measured. The locals are mired in their problems and drag on a miserable existence. That's the kind of hole our heroines are missing. Their originality and vitality turn the life of citizens upside down.
The main characters Vida, Noxie and Chichi turned out to be very interesting. Each is given enough time to reveal the character and show how each of them influenced the life of the city. Of the pluses, it is worth noting an excellent musical range, and with what accuracy the costumes and images of each of them are selected worthy of special praise. It feels like the actors were just made for these characters. The characters of the town are also well-developed. The whole local flavor is represented here: an elderly reclusive woman, a local punk, the first guy in the village and a fast girl in love with him, an unhappy downtrodden wife and her husband a tyrant. All the actors performed their roles perfectly. Especially amused Sheriff Dollard, who pursued the heroines on his heels and clearly had latent inclinations. Separate discussion deserves actors who played the role of our travesti. I have always admired actors who are not afraid to put on a woman’s shell, is it not a sign of true talent.
John Leguizamo made a real Mexican candy. His Chichi is so prickly on the outside and romantic on the inside, dreaming of a real prince. It was almost impossible to distinguish him from the girl. I don’t know how he managed all these manners and gait, but it was very funny. Patrick Swayze completely reincarnated as a Bohemian species. Strict but fair, merciful, refined and intelligent, a true queen. Truly one of Patrick's best roles. But the one who surprised the most was Wesley Snipes. I had no idea that from Blade he could easily retrain as a woman, and even so naturally. Watching Noxy was a pleasure, she is stylish, daring, feminine, but not devoid of masculinity.
In addition, the film was a success. If you like funny, light comedies, and want to immerse yourself in a completely different colorful, girly world, then I advise you to watch this film.
10 out of 10.
I've lost count of how many times in my life I've watched it. The incredible roles of Patrick Swayze and Wesley Snipes, which I already love so madly, after watching this film plunged me into the fanaticism of playing these wonderful actors.
The movie is beautiful every minute of it. I have seen it in all translations (of which only one is good) and even in the original. By the way, it is in the original that the replicas are revealed in all their glory and with all the irony, which is definitely a lot in the film! .
Courage with the skillful hand of the director and characters magically transforms into femininity. For this role, the actors did not need to lose 20kg or burn their chic muscles to look like female characters, and it is in this role that they are incredibly beautiful. You want to look and look at them. They want to meet in their lives, passing by in their posh, but not very reliable car. The view with her principles, with her faith in the rightness of her actions, with her empathy and warmth of heart, with her desire to make this world a better, brighter, brighter, became one of my role models.
The film looks on one breath, without any unpleasant precipitation, there is no vulgarity, dirt, dull humor (except to remember a poor policeman), on a bright positive note. Sometimes I want to dance with them!
" — What transport? — Cheap. — Then on the donkey!" —Patrick Swayze and Robin Williams' comeo
To date, it is very difficult to hope for something worthwhile from a director who alternates work on television with feature films, besides, rarely getting into wide distribution. But in 1995, you could expect anything, including Biban Kidron, for which the extravagant comedy long-titled Wong Fu, Thanks for Everything! Julie Newmar will be the most successful film in his career (maybe so far the best). But Kidron should thank his actors. The main role was played by Patrick Swayze, who was wildly popular after Dirty Dancing, Ghosts and On the Crest of the Wave. He was joined by Wesley Snipes, known for Major League, White People Can't Jump, and Destroyer. Only John Leguizamo remained the Dark Horse, but the Golden Globe nomination wiped the nose of all skeptics.
And the names of the main characters in the film are as follows: Vida Bohem (Swayze), Noxima Jackson (Snipes) and Chi-Chi Rodriguez (Leguizamo). “So it’s like women’s names!” exclaims someone unfamiliar with Wong Fu, Thanks for Everything! Julie Newmar, and he'll be right. Indeed, here men have female names, they and dresses wear female and behave like secular ladies. But I ask homophobes not to be crooked, because this comedy does not carry the propaganda of the LGBT community, here, if I may say so, a chaste extravaganza from "drag queen", although this term did not exist at the time of the film's voiceover, so all three are called transvestites. Unlike transvestites, drag queens are not necessarily gay. Anyone who wants to know more will find articles on the subject. And I return to the fact that agitation for all men immediately become like women here imperceptibly, it is now fashion for a kind of show as in Thailand is flourishing, but not in 1985!
The main characters (or heroines, as they prefer) just like to dress like women and behave accordingly. Due to the breakdown of their car on the way to Las Vegas, this trio finds themselves in the American backwoods, where everything is run by uncouth men, but the women seem not even aware that they have the right to vote. Find out the male population of the dusty town that their brothers by gender are hiding under colorful outfits, then it is likely to be trouble, but Vida, Noxima and Chi-Chi are able to stand up for themselves, and at the same time destroy the archaic nature of the place where they had to live for several days, to fight back the muzhlans, and then transform women who, it turns out, are very cute and kind people. And all this will be accompanied by extravagant alien behavior. You watch all this gushing action and somehow the soul becomes brighter, even though I belong to heterosexuals, but I was fun and not disgusting at all.
Who would expect a poor but very talented dancer to wear a broad-brimmed female hat? Who would expect a lover-protector to speak in a thin voice? Who imagined that an extreme robber would walk around on studs? Here’s the multifaceted talent of Patrick Swayze, who also received a Golden Globe nomination for his role as Miss Vida. When this actor passed away, it felt like the world had lost something important, something unforgettable. Wesley Snipes was also known for the brutality of his characters in previous films, but he got so used to the image of Miss Noxima that he often had to remind himself that he was still a male. And John Leguizamo achieved with the role of Chi-Chi the greatest achievement of his career. There would have been other roles for him so memorable. And no claims can be put Stockard Channing, Blythe Danner, Beth Grant, Alice Drummond and Jennifer Milmore, who played the female population of the dull town. And Chris Penn is good, if only for the fact that he constantly proved that his name is “Dollard”, and not “Dollard”, as it was written on his police badge.
This film is not quite like such classics as “Hello, I’m Your Aunt!”, “Only Girls in Jazz” and “Tootsy”, but if you consider yourself a fan of these films, then do not take a chance and look at the extravagant comedy “Wong Fu, with gratitude for everything!” Julie Newmar, where you will be very surprised by their images Patrick Swayze and Wesley Snipes. And it is possible that you will receive the same charge of positive energy and a message of love for people who hover in the atmosphere of this funny extravaganza. You are in a great mood!
Two bosom friends - a sophisticated Lady Vida Bohemia and a sharp-tongued African-American Noxima Jackson - achieve a coveted victory in the regional contest of travesty queens (in English called drag queens) and get a chance to participate in the national final. Suddenly, a competitor falls on their heads, dejected by the loss - the Latin American "boy in a dress", responding to the name Chi-Chi Rodriguez. Serious Vida decides to turn Chi Chi into a real diva. Instead of plane tickets, friends buy a used convertible and embark on an exciting road adventure that will change not only themselves, but also the usual life of a provincial town, by chance caught in the way of such an eccentric trio of transvestite heroes.
You know, I got into this movie because of TNT (there used to be a 9pm movie). I tried every night to watch what was on it. For the first five minutes I watched and didn’t know how to react – and I wanted to spit and change the channel, because the entourage of such a contest at first aroused only rejection. But I knew there was nothing interesting on other channels, and I was used to watching what I started watching. And I fell in love with that movie. If you discard prejudice, this is a great example of road cinema with all its attributes.
This is a very instructive, interesting and just light film that will tell you about difficult things through the prism of broken people hiding their tears under cosmetics and lush outfits. The film is very kind, albeit with dramatic notes of experience. And what is most interesting is that Wong Fu does not glorify sexual minorities or transvestites. Therefore, who expects to see a gay black woman here, go in the forest, you are not here.
The main idea of the film is that there is always a choice in our lives. We choose how to live, but every choice comes at a heavy price. Our heroines chose their own path, but for this they have to become objects of ridicule and misunderstanding. And despite their image and inflexibility, each of them wants everything that we all want - understanding, close and of course, love, which nothing can prevent.
Any movie from the category of “road cinema” always implies changes. Walking on new roads, Vida, Noxima and Chi-Chi discover in a new way not only each other, but also themselves. Each of the heroines has their own fault and their dreams. For us, a kind of politically correct triangle of a white lady, sharp on the language of a black woman and a Mexican crook (in which, of course, the white one leads), which looks surprisingly organic and interesting, was deliberately glued together. When the heroines are stuck in a remote town, for which they turned out to be a thunderbolt among the clear sky of everyday life, they will have to pass a great test of strength, and from various sides. And residents will have to reconsider their foundations and understand how gray their lives are.
Despite the gender of the main trio, the film tells about women, namely, the advantages and disadvantages of being a woman (for good reason that the director of the film is a woman). It is not easy to be a woman in the modern world, as practice shows. What in the metropolis, in a provincial town, society exposes women to the weaker sex, forgetting that women have great inner strength and the ability to radically change everything around them.
And this is proved by the most gorgeous actors who not only played in such a risky tape, but also such powerful roles! After all, to look so organically in such a role, not enough just dress and makeup. You have to be able to play that role. Remember at least our tragicomedy “Veselchaki” or the recent “Girl from Denmark” – there actors tried to play women, but do not believe them. It's the opposite here.
My first thought was, how did they decide to do that? And at the end of the film, I was convinced that this is probably one of the best roles in the career of each of them. I often forget that they are actors in disguise. Who's Patrick Swayze? This is Vida Bohemia, a sophisticated lady from high society, kind and stately, what do you mean, people? And the cocky and harsh Noxima, who, despite all her beliefs, is a very kind person? Where did you see Wesley Snipes in that pumped-up black panther? All the roles played just enchanting, there is no other word to pick up. Heroes believe without a trace, and this is found in the cinema, even serious and powerful, less and less.
The movie is not without subtexts, so watching this tape with parents will be at least awkward. The film is a continuous opposition of the characters to this world and its social framework, in which they are very crowded. To live as you want, contrary to the rules of the herd has always been and will be very difficult, but the dividends from this in the form of unlimited positivity and love of relatives are also not bad. Heroes prove that sometimes we all need a fairy tale and bright colors, and that sometimes only we can color our lives. The plot is simple and simple, but for such a movie it is a big plus.
Wong Fu is a very soulful and lively film, revealing not the simplest questions and raising issues that still concern us all. The comedic component made him alive, the dramatic - deep. I think that it is necessary to love or hate a person for specific deeds and qualities, and not for what way of life he chose for himself.
Every time I watch it, I get a sense of celebration and a lot of positive emotions. For me it is always a charge of optimism and light. I ask everyone who reads this to please drop stereotypes, forget about prejudice and just watch this movie. I guarantee you a lot of positive emotions.
A real rest for the soul. Thank you for everything.
This film can definitely be attributed to the classic comedies of the 90s, so beloved by me. They were really good and they were good. Now, unfortunately, these are very rare, so a nice surprise for me was that I somehow missed this thing as a child. Despite the minority theme, the film is far from being about the vicissitudes of their lives, as they like to make them now. It's exactly the opposite.
I was very happy to see the incomparable Patrick Swayze in the title role and the kindest person in the world Robin Williams as a cameo. They have a good memory.
The film, of course, fabulous in the plot, there is no truth to life, but very motivating and warming the soul. The most brutal man Wesley Snipes, no less courageous Patrick Swayze and John Leguizamo presented to our attention three queens with completely different characters, but one thing in them was common - free, aspiring souls.
The atmosphere of the film is amazing with kindness and sincerity. Still, in our time, we are weaned from such simple films, where help to our neighbor, mutual assistance, wins. I have identified 3 ideas from the film:
The first and the main - you can be as you want, if you only want;
Second What kind of person you are depends only on what you have inside.
Third - sincere empathy and help to your neighbor will always return a hundredfold.
I'm impressed. After this film, I wanted to revisit a few more of the same period. It is very warm after watching.
There is probably nothing more charming than Patrick Swayze and Wesley Snipes in the form of a travesty diva. Actors, usually associated with exceptionally masculine images, were able to embody on the screen enchanting and feminine something. This is what is called true skill and talent!
The plot of the film is unpretentious: three charming transvestites go to a competition in Hollywood and, due to a car breakdown, are forced to stay for a couple of days in an unremarkable settlement. That's where the fun starts. They manage to transform this village, teach the vitality of the local inhabitants and restore order in some places.
Impressions after viewing remain the most positive. I dare say that even men will not spit at the sight of “not” members of the same sex, for the charm and charisma of actors do their job! If you are in a very bad mood, watch Wong Fu. This film undoubtedly contributes to the active production of endorphin. And if the mood is good - especially do not postpone this film in a long box!
Recommended!
Wong Fu is one of my favorite movies from my childhood. As I get older, reviewing this picture from time to time, I experience more and more sensations! This film is a vivid example of good, not vulgar cinema.
This film tells about three transvestites who were brought together by the dream of a royal title, she also united them. Two Brutals: Wesley Snipes and Patrick Swayze perfectly managed to get used to such feminine and sophisticated images. I do not want to see the main characters as disguised men! For me, they are three women, each of whom is beautiful in its own way.
Kind of Bohemia is an infinitely merciful, intelligent and luxurious woman, a standard of tolerance and understanding. In any situation, she is a person who is able to make intelligent decisions. Ready to help everyone, it was she who, without hesitation and hesitation, took to her “guards” a young, frightened boy named Chi-chi, who later became an integral part of this story. Noxima Jackson is a passionate, sexual beast. Her ardent disposition attracts and does not leave indifferent. It has the energy, the desire to act decisively at all times and under all circumstances. But she has a huge heart. Grumpy and "bumping," she still agrees to an adventure with the promotion of a poor boy in a tasteless dress to the royals. Finally, about Chi Chi Rodriguez. Chichi is a young man with high hopes. He doesn’t know what to do to make his life’s dream come true. So he's begging for help. Chichi is slowly opening up. And now, we see not a weeping boy with a broken heart, but a gentle girl like a flower. Chichi is naive and trusting. She, like a breeze, gives the whole picture freshness and inspiration.
In "Wong Fu..." different life situations are shown. The film is instructive. The whole film leaves food for thought. Personally, this film taught me first of all that every person, regardless of appearance, can be beautiful inside. Secondly, there will be people everywhere who will take care of you and accept you for who you are. And finally, the third and most important conclusion: you should never despair, you should always follow your dream!
10 out of 10
Oh, what an amazing movie! First of all, thanks to the actors – Patrick Swayze, Wesley Snipes, John Leguizamo – everyone was incomparable, every second of screen time you believe they are Women! What a transformation! They are so feminine and beautiful that you do not doubt their sincerity for a minute!
The film itself gives a lot of positive emotions, it can both laugh, and give inspiration and new strength. It is simply impossible after all the adventures of Vida, Noxima and Chi-Chi to remain indifferent to them!
It's a good movie. Yes, it looks like a fairy tale, but sometimes you want to believe in this fairy tale and get a good mood for the whole day and enjoy watching a movie.
Undoubtedly, the film became one of my favorites and I think that this film I will watch many more times.
He is funny, optimistic, and makes you believe in the best. It is bright and juicy, like life itself, it should be lived with kindness in the heart, despite moral foundations and rules, you need to enjoy it and be sure to dream a lot!
And even the most cherished and, at first glance, impossible dreams will come true!
You just have to believe with all your heart and be a good person. It doesn’t matter what gender you are.
I can’t say that I’m attracted to the topic when a man dresses up as a woman or vice versa, but I decided to watch this movie exclusively from the cast, especially since I haven’t watched films with Patrick Swayze for a long time. The film did not produce a stunning furrore on me, but I did not expect anything supernatural, again because of the chosen theme.
The film directed by Biban Kidron has a lot of tricks, from the competition “blue queen”, to changing the consciousness of people in a small town. Do not be confused by the beginning of the film, which pays much attention to the above-mentioned contest and how the transformation of three men into persons of the fairer sex. But if the first minutes, you overcame and did not experience shock, bordering on disgust, then this picture can please a lot of funny and funny moments, in which it is difficult for me to single out anyone from the actors. Of course, the film is run by an aristocratic plan lady Vida Bohemia, brilliantly played by Patrick Swayze. Of course, the work of makeup artists is prohibitive, it can be seen with the naked eye, but the talent of this trio is not subject to the slightest doubt. His Miss Chichi can break more than one male heart, which we see on the example of the local boy Bobby Ray. A little less impressive looks Miss Noxima, played by Wesley Snipes. More angular movements, more sharp and hot-tempered. One of the two, either Wesley Snipes did not get used to the image for obvious male reasons, or the director was conceived just so, because the ladies, because they are also different.
And I also liked the image, the real, not reincarnated image of a woman from a memorable town named Caroline (Stockard Channing). A decent woman who is beaten from time to time by her auto mechanic husband is not pity, but respect. But she will show herself in this film when the time comes.
It’s hard to recommend watching or not watching this movie. It's not without subtext. I would still venture to recommend it, but preferably in the company of friends and, if possible, in the cinema. There will be positive emotions.
Although it was not released for a whole year due to the length of the title, the film still did not lose its freshness in 1995. Rather, on the contrary - such films, at least famous enough or kind and therefore worthy of attention - and in zero have not yet been removed.
This film was original not because of who the main characters of the road movie, and not because of the plot. Original in his kindness. Originally, the famous actors decided to slightly diversify the contingent of their roles. And they did. And the director (a woman, by the way) managed to make a movie about transvestites without a single vulgarity, with really funny and cute jokes. It teaches women to respect themselves, and transvestites (who teach the above) not to doubt their rightness. You have to be tolerant of everyone and respect those who love you. We must look at life 'not like everyone else', but as the heart dictates.
I agree that cinema is not for everyone, but at least for those who want to smile. I personally gave me a great pleasure and a firm feeling that everything will be fine.
And yet, what a charming thing these people are!
You are not a man to me, but you are not a woman either. You're an angel.
Love each other!
