The mirror does not choose what to reflect: face or mask. The plot is built around the military history of two friends - who, being officers of the regimental artillery, immediately entered into battle with the Nazis who broke through, risking death / being captured in a counterfight with the enemy, retreat, throwing guns whole and undamaged. Further, their immediate superior, threatening to shoot with his own hands or hand over to the tribunal – there “we all know” tm. – exactly “wall”. And a threat to all – and officers and subordinates, despite the fair and statutory message of one of the fighters about submission to the order “retreat”. And shouting "It doesn't matter what bullet to die from, your own or German!", rushed to beat off the guns and in most die. It was the summer of 1943.
Yeah, so every mini-retreat, those who committed it were shot -- that's the basis for counting 53 million dead! And these are mainly Russian, White and Little Russians and Volga Bulgars, because mobilization since 1943 has not been carried out in the "native" republics and autonomies - only voluntary! (By the way, why is that?) And here we necessarily carry out the elimination of combat-ready units? Delusional.
Maximum, if you deal with purely formal, officers (and only officers), threatened a fine. I would like to stress once again that only if the tribunal comes up formally, without taking into account the current situation. There was no threat to the subordinates at all - only interrogations as witnesses. Once again: the giver is responsible for the order in the army - otherwise not the army, but zucchini 13 chairs! How did such an army reach Berlin? Oh, yes, "smashing corpses" tm. - "everybody knows" tm. And it is not at all likely: the hand-held shooting of lieutenants by a major, and even a group of fighters in 1943 is a fantasy. Zhukov - probably could, but did he? In any case, the loss of his circle of communication-competence marshal/general, for this reason is not known.
All right, we're here. If the underlying conflict is fiction, lies, then the whole upper structure is a mirage and a sand castle. All this attempt in the film to display time-essential connections of the past and the present, the phantasmagoria of the eternal carnival and feast in the midst of the plague, the next search for “truth” by the “better layer” – all the wind in the willows, the beautiful and empty throwing of the deceived Master, in which, as in the mirror, the throwing and bubbling of the Little Soviet society in those years were displayed. And although the director soon clinged to a certain opinion (erroneous, according to historians) - as evidenced by two subsequent films (one, by the way, together with the country of the loser WWII - Germany!), but the subsequent film has already sobered the creator and perhaps he was afraid of the endowed or at least - seen (White Holiday).
The Master made the wrong choice: instead of a conscientious study of history-documents, he relied on the “average opinion on the chamber” – the society, perhaps believed the “horror stories” of the environment. Whatever the reason, the author is responsible for that continuing lie, the denigration used by the "masters" and their obedient, simple-minded (simply lazy-souled, poorly educated), eponymous "creators"-servants-performers filmmakers-not hands-followers of the masters, to excise Soviet Man from his essence - victories, freedom, mercy, education - by perverting history - taking away the future, leaving in the fight for the present - only survival - a little more than an animal.
