I watched this movie for the first time just today. As they say, better late than never. Movies leave positive emotions. It looks very easy and with great pleasure. Lots of humor, funny moments. The atmosphere of the 90s conquers even now, although it has been a long time. Of course, Bruce is inimitable, but besides him there is much to see. It seems to be a simple topic about a thief who is not allowed to tie, but looks surprisingly fervent and fun.
I liked not only Bruce, but also his character. Eddie seems to want to quit his criminal past, but the circumstances are such that he is not allowed to do it. It was fun to see him being prevented from living normally. He is constantly in various situations, especially I was impressed by the scene when he was thrown out of the ambulance. It looked very funny.
I'd like two duets. Bruce Willis and Danny Aiello – This is a great example of friendship. Especially their first scene in the car and how they communicated. It was both fun and funny. And throughout the film, I was not bored. And of course, Bruce Willis and Andy McDowell. She actively dynamized him, but he did not lose interest in her. It was also interesting to see their relationship.
Michael Lehmann’s direction also appealed to me. It turned out a great comedy, which looks fun in 2023.
Bruce Willis. Inimitable as always. To look at him in this film was very funny, as well as through the circumstances that he went through, and he himself joked a lot.
Andy McDowell. She played a key role in this film. Especially with Bruce, it looked really good. He had to put a lot of effort into getting closer to him. That was interesting to see.
Danny Aiello. He wasn't boring. He is Eddie’s only friend in this movie. You also look at their relationship without interruption. Fun!! .
Hudson Hawk is a very pleasant and fun picture, which is not a pity to spend time. It is fun, gives a lot of emotions and a great mood. An ordinary story about a thief is played in an interesting way. Watching the adventures of Bruce Willis, who is forced to return to the criminal past, looks fun and very funny. And of course he looks great with Andy McDowell. There was good chemistry between them.
Sometimes it is not clear why a picture fails at the box office. Some films become cult films over time. Like what a dead man in Denver did in 1995 with Andy Garcia as Jimmy Sviatosh. Or “Donnie Darko”, which opened to the audience Jake Gyllenhaal, and with a budget of 6 million not collected half a million dollars.
The situation with the 1991 Hudson Hawk seems more understandable. The financial failure here was devastating. At the time, $65 million was spent on blockbusters. People don’t count money when they watch movies. Give them a clear story, and she in the “hawk” is quite murky.
Not even the grandiose shooting, reconstructing the era of Leonardo da Vinci. When you look at these shots, involuntarily thoughts arise, rather than make a picture of the life of a great scientist? The budget would be enough. The historical beginning of the film is very visually attractive, and in general the film was shot well.
In some places, especially on display, the Hudson Hawk is reminiscent of Luc Besson’s Fifth Element. There are different wacky characters in Element as well as in Hawk. For some reason, it seems that Besson decided to take the lead role in his film Bruce Willis after watching Hudson Hawk. The overall atmosphere of both paintings is similar.
Bruce Willis came to the set of “Hudson Hawk” is no longer a beginner. Behind his shoulders was already "Die Hard", "Blind Date", as well as the popular even here series "Moonlight Agency". The actor demonstrated in all his works the integral role of a strong guy with a great sense of humor. But “hawk” Bruce his crow image did not help.
And the movie is actually pretty good. As they say, undervalued. Not understood in its time. Beat it. Turned out to be hard to understand. Well, shot according to a similar recipe "Fifth Element" but entered the cash register like a knife in butter. Hawk director Michael Lehmann may even proudly say Hawk has set the stage. Well, quite possibly.
But let’s see what delighted the viewer that very May 1991, when “Hawk” was released on screens? Cinemas still featured such masterpieces as The Silence of the Lambs, Dancing with Wolves and Deadly Thoughts (with Willis' wife Demi Moore). A week before Hawk, the comedy What About Bob?, a very funny satire featuring Bill Murray, kicked off. Two comedies at once? It's not funny. One of the two will be laughed at less.
But perhaps the creepiest thing for any picture is its neighborhood on premiere posters next to other potential hits. And what names do we see on these posters? On May 24, two super hits shot simultaneously with the Hawk: “Reverse traction” with a stunning acting ensemble (not even worth listing, the film legend there is a dozen, or even more) and “Thelma and Louise” – and a funny, and touching, and action-packed film with Susan Sarandon and Gina Davis.
What did they say you were waiting for? Here it is, the main cause of the Hudson Hawk crash, on which Tristar apparently bet almost everything. Sorry, sorry, sorry. Not much, though. The picture is not forgotten, it still sells well on physical media and in online cinemas. Perhaps even covered all the costs that were spent in their time to recreate the atmosphere of the studio of the great Leonardo da Vinci.
Bruce Willis parodies 007, just as the magnificent duo of Sandra Bernhart and Richard Grant parody the many ultra-villains of Bond.
Director Michael Lehmann reminds the viewer of many other old films, and many old techniques – but the mood of the picture is completely in the spirit of the 90s. Screenwriters Stephen de Sousa and Daniel Waters created a strange and world filled with the wit of crazy comedy, burlesque and buffoonade.
Nothing in the plot is predictable, and nothing is played out straight, because the main characters, Hawke and Tommy are thieves with an admixture of circus madness. Their work requires accurate, to the point of time, and so to keep up with the schedule, they put their hacks under songs such as “Swinging on a Star” and “Side by Side”. These are musical crimes, where every criminal sings the soundtrack to the robbery.
Lehman's production is blissfully relaxed, and combines courtesy with a crude, almost punk comedy. This is a cunning and sometimes daring satire. In some places it even turns into surrealism, which is especially good in the scenes with Grant and Bernard, able, like no other, to use the natural connections between surrealism, farce and cocaine. The center of action remains Willis, with an indelible seal of cartoon coolness on his face.
Separate warm words deserve, unexpectedly plastic Danny Aiello, and Andy McDowell, who plays a tenderly frightening (not for the first time) object of desires of the protagonist.
The film keeps getting better year by year and throws us witty jokes.
Probably each of us at least once, but watched “Hudson Hawk” – a comedy adventure action movie with singing Bruce Willis in the title role. “Hudson Hawk” is the nickname of the brilliant thief Eddie Hawkins, for whom any business is a kind of art of the thief genre. After leaving prison, Eddie immediately becomes the object of close attention and interest from the company Mayflower Industries, whose owners - husband and wife intend to assemble several parts of a device that can turn lead into gold. Eddie does not have much choice and he agrees, repeatedly risking his life and health, along the way falling in love with the charming Vatican agent Anna Baraglia (Andy McDowell).
The film made by Michael Lehmann is stupid. He's really stupid and naive. A lot of ridiculous scenes and episodes, stupid voice acting (as in the case of the laughter of the heroine McDowell – her laughter is really infuriating here), strange and ridiculous behavior of villains – “Hudson Hawk” (the film) is created from all this, appearing as a frivolous spectacle that mocks more serious projects about the mafia and robberies. I’m not saying the movie is bad.
I think that the style of “Hudson Hawk” is not chosen by chance: the film parodies movies about robberies, and the main character in the person of Eddie Hawkins acts as a comedy James Bond (no less). A married couple of villains fits Bond’s enemies perfectly, as some of them intended to either bring down the global financial order (just like the owners of Mayflower Industries) or pursue other goals. Plus, their assistants can be regarded as auxiliary heroes of Bond. Take Butterfinger – a big man who can drag at least five Bruce Willis on his shoulders – after all, he is very similar to Jaws performed by Richard Keale from the movie The Spy Who Loved Me! I can’t say that the Hudson Hawk is a parody of James Bond, but I think that such a theory has the right to life.
Leave the “hawk” after the first “Mission Impossible” you could say that this is a parody of the blockbuster with Tom Cruise, because Eddie Hawkins, like Ethan Hunt, is a master in robberies! Especially when you watch Hawkins do his thing! Mockingly simple, masterfully and as if any obstacle can be removed with the click of your fingers. In favor of the parody of spy pictures is the fact that the events in the film unfold in several countries, which is typical including for Bond adventures.
But it may well be that “Hudson Hawk” is a kind of parody not only of spy films, but also of “Indiana Jones”, especially when you consider that the hero of Bruce Willis steals antiquities created by Leonardo da Vinci himself!
The film is like a woven of stupid situations and absurd actions, which the hero of Willis and his friend season with picture-played dances and do all this to the songs. A kind of response to Indian films, where before you punch each other, the characters must dance and sing. By the way, I don’t know why, but the duet Willis – Aiello, for some reason reminded me of the movie “Blues Brothers”. Probably because these guys are singing here too.
Given the success of the first two parts of “Die Hard”, released before the appearance of “Hudson Hawk”, the invitation by Michael Lehmann Willis to the lead role looked quite reasonable step, because the actor became popular, recognizable and his appearance on the screen could play into the hands of such an adventurous project. What the Hawk has become in its plot idea.
Anyway, the Hudson Hawk is not bad. Yes, he is stupid and ridiculous in his script, plot, production and acting, but at the same time he takes his own at the expense of shortcomings, because the director managed to turn them into advantages.
But look at you. I do not impose my opinion on anyone.
I have loved this movie for a long time, along with the fifth element. Although, of course, the fifth element is slightly less absurd and more harmonious. I'd take another 9 and 10 yards here. Great criminal comedies have turned out... But now about Hawk.
The film begins as a classic crime comedy. The main character comes out of prison, harmful radishes put pressure on him and force him to return to his criminal past. But after 20 minutes, completely hypertrophied "bar" characters appear, and a high-quality shiza begins. You can criticize it, of course, or you can relax, stop looking for logic, and just enjoy playing actors, gags, and a fountain of absurdities. Well, it's so cute when after a trip in a truck with chickens, feathers are blown out of the mouth.
All the actors are great. Characters are colorful, unique, bright. Undoubtedly, their prototypes and analogues can be found in other tapes, but this breed eclipses numerous originals, in my opinion. The main villains are amazing. Jokes on the verge of foul, cards from a family photo album, slaps, hypertrophied, but very funny facial expressions ... And the dog?!
Comic, sometimes tragic characters, charismatic actors, a flurry of quality delirium, a sea of jokes. I really like the movie. Revised several times.
Comedy action movie, or combat comedy, which came out not quite combative and not particularly comedic. The best thief of any state or all states, Eddie, gets out of prison and is immediately forced to steal new things, which he very much resists.
The plot seems to be simple (and even weak), but I was very confused by the number of villains and their lightning appearance. At first, I tried to dig in and figure out who was working for whom and who was collaborating with whom, but after a while, interest disappeared, and I was just watching the film without having any special thoughts.
The jokes are mediocre, the events are too fantastic, thefts are shown somehow not very exciting, and in general what is happening does not catch on.
Bruce Willis is very good as a comedy actor, his partner in the person of Danny Aiello also very much liked me. The other characters were very colorful and, in principle, played well. Andy McDowell surprised me. Whether she was told to play like that, or she saw her character like that, but I often felt that she was playing some kind of emotionless semi-robot.
In general, lovers of theft and fans of Bruce Willis may like it. But only once.
I'm tired of riddles! The police, the mafia, the butler, they're all forcing me to steal something I don't turn out to have stolen! It's all fucking weird, Tommy.
Leonardo Da Vinci wanted to create a machine that could turn lead into silver, so as not to hang from the stupid wars of kings, and given that Leonardo was a genius, the result exceeded all his expectations. The machine was built and even more – it worked, but turned lead not into silver, but into gold. Realizing that such an invention would not work for good, Leonardo broke the machine into three parts and hid them in his other works in the hope that they would never be found. But you know what they say, never say never. And now, five centuries later, a professional thief Eddie named “Hudson Hawk” comes out of Sing Sing prison, who spent a long ten years there. Naturally, such a long detention left its mark on the hero of Bruce Willis and it is natural that Eddie wants to tie up with his criminal past. And of course, there are bad people who offer Hawk a idle job associated with theft of museum values, for which these very bad people are willing to pay good money. Needless to say, Hawk's employers aren't even considering a serious and negative response? No, I don't think I should. And then Eddie, sighing a little, enlists the support of his old friend Tommy, and then goes to steal the museum exhibits, not realizing that these things contain part of the machine created by the great Leonardo Da Vinci. Machines that can turn things around.
An adventure film about a first-class thief who travels around the country, robs museums, confronts bad guys, seduces a beauty, tries to drink coffee and constantly jokes. It sounds like a fairy tale, especially considering that the main role in the film went to the hero of the fighters of my, and not only my, childhood – Bruce Willis. And naturally, in such a scenario, you do not pay attention to the fact that this film was awarded three statuettes of the Golden Raspberry. Ultimately, Sylvester Stallone was consistently nominated for this “prestigious” award, but did that affect the quality of the films he played in? No, it didn't. And so you close your eyes to both critics and their nominations, anticipating an unforgettable spectacle with Bruce Willis in the lead role. But something goes wrong, and from the very beginning, and the longer the film lasts, the more you realize that you deceived yourself to expect from a picture about a professional thief something in the spirit of the novels about the “Steel Rat” or the computer toy “Thief”, and not what eventually appeared before your eyes. Well, what happened? The answer, as usual, is slightly lower.
The creators of this film were betting on young people who at that time were just studying at school. Ultimately, most of them were regulars of cinemas, which showed films with Arnold Schwarzenegger, Dolph Lungren and Steven Seagal. And yes, the calculation was chosen correctly, but what the creators miscalculated was the fact that people studying at school or finishing them are far from children and the joke that one of the heroes, sorry, almost shitped when he almost fell from a five-story height or when a hefty and not very smart child is called “Baby”, will not cause the return that the creators of this film counted on. All this looks too childish and is able to cheer up only a six-year-old who goes to kindergarten, but again, with the amount of violence that happens on the screen and the fact that death is taken for granted there, this film is unlikely to suit young viewers. No, of course, the creators tried to conquer the adult audience with a couple of jokes, the leitmotif of which is the bed, but even they are not able to cause a smile, since at this very moment the characters speak in full seriousness, and after a couple of minutes they begin to fool around.
As for the dangerous adventures, everything is not smooth here either. First, tried the editor, who glued the footage as it should, as a result of which at one point the hero of Willis was on the roof, and the next he comes down from the tree. Secondly, the clumsiness of some moments - Eddie and Tommy fall off the summit and Eddie finds himself in a room full of his enemies. He talks to them and even jokes, but where did Tommy go? A mystery. Towards the end of the picture, such riddles become too many and logic, taking a shotgun in his hands, goes in the direction of the bathroom, lamenting his difficult share. Third, the action scenes were designed for people who like Jackie Chan movies (and who doesn’t?). Oh, no, old Bruce won't wave his arms and legs, showing others, and at the same time the audience, the wonders of kung fu. It's about the situations our hero gets into. Driving down the freeway on wheel stretchers? Easy. Climb the roof with a path divider and a lifeline? Simple. And all nothing, but the fact that in the films with Jackie Chan, such situations are presented as if this is the last straw and no matter how ridiculous it all looks from the outside, for the hero Chan it does not seem funny and funny, because he fell into a serious binding from which he may not get out, then in this film such situations are presented as funny and funny. At the same time, it is fun for all the hero, bandits, extra actors, the viewer except that it is not fun, since you simply do not believe in what is happening and therefore do not empathize with the hero of Willis - you will get out somehow, because this is not the first time he is in such a situation.
Of course, one could argue that this is a parody and it is impossible to take the film seriously. But you see what it is, a parody of parody of discord. Actors in this kind of movie can be terribly overplaying, can behave stupidly or even ridiculously, as Leslie Nielsen did, but actors must believe in their heroes. They need to understand that yes, they are acting in a parody movie, but what is happening should not turn into a circus. The viewer must see a world that lives by its own laws, which is more stupid and ridiculous than our own, but that world must be alive, as it was in the films of Mel Brooks and Monty Python. But alas, the actors for the most part are entertained, not playing and do not believe in what is happening. And if they do not believe, how can the viewer believe?

How much I remember my television childhood, once again and remember this film with an intriguing title. As a rule, its advertising, as well as the film itself, was shown on the ORT TV channel with a fairly good frequency. And Bruce Willis attracted, and irresistible Andy, and all sorts of motley adventures in the frame, and flying on the wings and so on. Everyone had never seen this movie. To numerous reviews "Die Hards" reached, and to "Hudson" did not reach. But time has put everything in place...
This film, and to be more precise, a half-black comedy, even a black and white comedy, has only one drawback - this is the confusion of the plot twists and turns. And not to say that nothing is clear, no! The very essence is clear, but... who are the FBI here, who are the intruders here, who is this strange couple with an unsightly red diva at the head, what is the role of the heroine Andy McDowell and why do they all need to fool Mr. Hawk so much? Questions arise immeasurably, questions are not the most difficult, and, already approaching the middle of the film, starting to lose the essence of the actions of the secondary characters, you just watch the magnificent play of the young “headhead” and a fantastic influx of sparkling jokes and hamstrings.
There's a lot to watch! It's not just a standard comedy, it's a top-notch comedy! Here and black humor without frills, here and the standard Hollywood techniques, here and something pitch-like musical, here and humorous bets and tricks used in comedies of the 60s (a la “Mr. Pitkin”), here and the feeling of something fabulous, as if watching segments of something from Disney, here and magnificent parodies. I would like to note that the level of humor in the Hudson Hawk is extreme, and together with the wonderful game of Bruce Willis, the impression of the audience about everything seen would undoubtedly please the creators of this comedy.
The hero of Willis comes out of ten years of imprisonment, but instead of a measured and calm life, he has to return to work and ensure the comfortable existence of his customers. However, "the main nut of Hollywood" does not intend to put up and gives heat to everyone without exception, using the help of a faithful friend, the hero Danny Aiello and a new passion of the heroine McDowell. Wait for realism during the viewing is not worth it, there are many amazing and fantastic moments: it is jumping from the 5th floor of two friends, without scratches and bruises, and incredible movement of Eddie through the air and much more. This film is a wonderful charge of cheerful mood for a respected TV viewer, and not a tense action movie, where you need to look at every little thing and be on the lookout. "Hudson Hawk" - the purest water entertaining hilarious!
It’s hard to say why the movie didn’t pay off. Most likely, after the successful two “nuts”, which allowed Willis to rise to the zenith of fame, the viewer expected from a native German such a thrash in “Hudson Hawk” and did not expect to see Bruce in a light black and white comedy. Maybe so. The film is not replete with constant tension and breathtaking fire fun, although chases and shootouts, albeit in small quantities, are present here. The action of the picture is more or less peaceful. Perhaps this was a disappointment for the audience, who expected bright adventures.
But still!
Magnificent acting, beautiful inexhaustible humor and magical appeal Willis, McDowell and Aiello help to immortalize this film as one of the best comedy acting works of Bruce Willis and one of the most watchable comedies of the 90s.

This film, in my opinion, is significantly different from most popular films with the inimitable Bruce Willis in the title role - not so much a failure in the movie distribution as a genre affiliation - the comedy here dominates the action movie, and this is clear from the first seconds of the film. Of course, this does not mean that the creators decided to cheat on many of the criticized plot or production of the picture.
I liked the plot. Of course, in fact, he is not original - a cool guy in the performance of not yet bald Bruce saves the world, as if by the way kills villains and goes to drink coffee with a beauty. But I like how everything that happens, from the prologue to the flight of the main characters, is connected with Leonardo da Vinci. Everything turned out laconically - because of the works of the Genius, the main character had problems throughout the film, on the creation of the Genius and flew away to meet love and happiness.
I liked the most important thing in the movie – humor. Of course, it is not that subtle, vulgar or original. But it was funny - isn't that enough?
In the end, the film is a kind of parody of the action genre as a whole - I strongly doubt that the creators of the film pretended to be something really serious - which are bright, frankly insane and stereotyped, but no less charismatic villains. And personally it seems strange to me the fact that the direction and acting of this picture were so poorly appreciated by critics and even sprinkled with “Raspberry” – for a parody, all the actors played perfectly – against the background of others, no one seemed to be a clown, no one seemed to be stuck in a harsh guy with a brick face.
I liked this picture, even very much. I didn’t regret my time, and that says something. If you haven’t seen this picture yet, look, you almost certainly won’t regret it.

Everyone loves Bruce Willis (almost as much as blondes or more). Women fall for his cunning squint and inimitable grin, which is fit to patent. Or to insure, the good insure Hollywood stars all in a row. Men see him as their boyfriend, with whom you can easily have a drink on a Friday night for a game of, say, poker (or the same preference). And the actor, like all his characters, is no stranger to a good joke. Steps on broken glass, punctuated by sparkling sharpness - his favorite role.
Acting as the screenwriter of “Hudson Hawk”, Willis, apparently, decided to have fun. This film from and to - the brainchild of Bruce. Failed, scolded by critics, but tenderly loved. A parody of all the movie heroes of the 1980s: from the tireless archaeologist Indiana Jones, who is in the eternal search for sacred figs, to the self-played simple supercop John MacLaine. The film is stuffed with jokes of varying degrees of success: from very funny to frankly stupid, as if the entire crew periodically carried so much that she could not stop, and several bloopers were accidentally included in the film.
“Hudson Hawk” might be called stupid, but idiocy, raised to a superb degree, was able to change the minus for a plus. All this is frankly frivolous. The plot revolves around the search for a certain artifact, accidentally created in the XV century by the great inventor Leonardo da Vinci. The object has the form of a crystal, prudently divided into three parts, which are hidden in other inventions of the Italian, now very valuable and well protected. This McGuffin is capable of running a miracle machine that turns lead into gold. This means that the lucky person who has become the owner of such wealth will be able to devalue the gold and foreign exchange reserves of all countries, provoke a large-scale economic crisis and gain world domination.
Heroes chasing the invention of Leonardo are charming in their comics: a nun in a revealing red dress is a secret agent of the Vatican; an eccentric billionaire, ironically named Darwin, and his hysterical wife, quite accidentally named after the Roman goddess of wisdom Minerva; a special squad of the CIA with code chases - the names of chocolate bars; sewn on the side and white threads of the Sicilian mafiosi - not only that called the same as brothers-water guides, the same possibility was obtained from a computer toy, like a bonus from them from a famous emperor. A man on a donkey. It’s just a man on a donkey.
And at the center of this grotesque epic is him. Unlucky but talented safe breaker Eddie Hawkins is a lover of women and retro motives. The very title of the film, referring to the ancestor of the noirs “The Maltese Falcon”, does not allow you to ignore the parody of this character. Times have changed and changed in the end. In place of aged whiskey came a crappy cappuccino, black humor replaced laughter, and the invariable fatal beauty howled like a dolphin. However, a two-sex coat, a borsalino hat and a blind game by other people's rules remained the same. Eddie will fall face to face in the mud, pick up toy elephants from nasty children, show miracles of balancing and spill oil as you know who. And at the same time, he will show unsurpassed charm. What else can I ask for?
Bruce Willis does not hide that he got real pleasure from the shooting of “Hudson Hawk”, that he did not draw a line between himself – a human and himself – an actor. All with the same trademark grin, he laughs off journalists trying to understand what the budget of the film went for: they say, guys, you can count my money as much as you want, but I have so much that I can throw pebbles into the lake for the rest of my life and do nothing more. But, despite the three Golden Raspberries and the nomination of the same lead actor, despite the obvious caricature of his character, there was something about this singing bear cub. Something that much later would allow Robert Rodriguez to recreate the image of the classic black film hero in his Sin City, and Oliver Stone to declare that Bruce Willis is the Humphrey Bogart of our generation.
Having deservedly cut off a jubilee term long in the life of a third-grader, the damn attractive bear cub Eddie Hawkins, nicknamed the Hudson Hawk, willingly leaves the prison penthouses unfavorable to the thief’s heart. Having freely swallowed the American air, he dreams of “tiing up with the vicious past” and a cup of smelly cappuccino. But it wasn't! His long-suffering coffee he will find only at the dawn of the final credits, and in Grishkovetsky shy “I am good” will also have to postpone the lo of better times: in the Scyllo-charibd reality, he is waiting for a serious job to save the world. In the program Hawkins for the next hour and a half: a man on a donkey, the Mario brothers, theft of artifacts of Da Vinci himself, the fight against scoundrels, the Vatican, a cunning couple of crazy Mayflowers, “chocolate” enemy agents, outstanding alchemy, the price of real friendship, tender relationships, a man on a donkey.
The idea of a cheerful musical guy-burglar originated in the then not yet bald head of Bruce Willis and gained its realization in the film of the old director Michael Lehmann. The parody action comedy "Hudson Hawk" briskly started in the early nineties (generous was that period of time for action films and comedies), but, to the sorrow of true fans of Willis, suffered a cinematic fiasco. By that time, Bruce had already carried the burden of fame and folk love that had fallen on him after Die Hard. And people... Oh, people! People did not forgive and did not accept a new broken and somewhat frivolous image of his idol and, although, in this production, he too desperately struggles with evil, famously fights, also dashingly humors and “has” chaste love – the audience clearly lacked this. It is believed that the painting has no artistic value and is made exclusively invita Minerva. The claims also flashed an offensive argument like “men don’t dance.” This macaroma, hilarious curbets "nuts" grabbed the title of the worst actor, and the film poured a handful of "golden raspberries" (no other than initially lead).
In fact, “Hudson Hawk” is not so bad, and quite himself even pretty and charming. For Willis, this picture - that the beloved child: in addition to direct participation in the script, he experiments to the full - again returns to the comedic role (before that there was an experience in the series "Moonlight Detective Agency") also with comic verses in addition, which he naturally performs a duet with his friend Tommy, creating another thievery rudeness in the name of saving humanity. Reader, reaper and player on the duet, brave Bruce, visually a symbiosis of Homer Simpson and playwright Radzinsky in his youth, his film attack threw America not to say a challenge, but something like that. He playfully parodied the brutal faces of heroes of universally adored militants, including himself, and did it with all his heart. Surrounded by wonderful actors and actresses like Danny Aiello and Andy McDowell, Hawk and colleagues in the Lyceum workshop have made a great funny story, which does not claim to be genius. Take it's all, brothers! Now old Willis assures that for the tastes of the time, the film was too extravagant and jokes that if he was offered to star in the sequel, he would immediately agree, provided that there was another director at the helm. But the cast would have remained the same. In fact, they have done more than they have done their job. The Vatican secret agent, concurrently a nun-connoisseur of the work of Da Vinci from Andy McDowell, is very, very convincing in the emotional torment between a sense of duty, love for God and love for Hawkins: she sacredly betrays a good and good person - a thief, thereby sinning and naturally asking for forgiveness. He loves it and wants to fight it in Nintendo. Ayell's Tommy-fiveton is crafty, almost devoted and in general, a real motherly sweetie and yes, he always seemed to "miss something." And, of course, it would be a form of pigsty not to mention the bitch-Minerva, coupled with her husband obsessed with the original idea of world domination, the role of which was played by the great and terrible (terrible still to a greater extent) Sandra Bernhard. It's amazing!
Perhaps somewhere a little underjoked, somewhere overwisted, somewhere there was not enough light (with gunpowder order) - but this is a ration for the fastidious minds of the film academies; in general, "Hudson Hawk" - cheerful, good and cucumber, hello, cheerful nostalgia. One famous actress once said that acting in a bad movie is like spitting on eternity. Crystal saliva of Willis (God save America!), iced somewhere in the mesosphere, shattered on this very eternity, flying into small fragments, which mercilessly and forever stuck in the pink, yellow, callosum and smooth heels of bluster fans. Lucky you!
"Hudson Hawk" is a typical example of good old comedies from the 90s. Modern films are becoming more and more realistic. Less and less you can see these kind, imbued with irony and constant jokes over the ongoing comedy with a charismatic protagonist. The nineties are my favorite era of the film industry. Many comedies of that time do not carry semantic load, do not claim high awards. But it's not necessary. Maybe I just haven’t grown to the classics yet, but modern movies will make me laugh less and less. Watching "Hudson Hawk" again you remember the villains whose goal is to enslave the world in another ridiculous way, about those explosions when cars crashed into a pole took off into the air as if carrying a ton of explosives, about the invincible "good guys" who always jump out the window a second before the explosion.
If we talk specifically about the film, then, as I said, this is an outstanding action comedy of the time, with a lot of gag situations. I will also say a little about the actors: Bruce Willis did great (could it have been different?), no less well played and Andy McDowell, whom we all know for, in my opinion, one of the best comedies of the 90s Groundhog Day>, which came out 2 years later, which gives reason to believe that in some sense, thanks to the Hudson Hawk, she revealed her acting talent. Also worth noting is Danny Aiello, who played the best friend of the main character.
Result: All that is required from a film of this caliber is to make the viewer forget about everyday problems and spend 2 hours of free time on a positive wave. This movie has done well.
