Master of Reincarnation or Masterclass by Spencer Tracy!!! Few actors, quite frankly, do what Spencer Tracy did. And he managed to show a man suffering from a split personality. And he did it so filigree, so masters as Valery Kharlamov played hockey or Pelé football.
Victor Fleming, the director of the film, presents to our attention a scientist whose life purpose is to invent a remedy that, um, took and turned from evil into good. The goal is noble, but the consequences can be very deplorable. Which is essentially what we're seeing. This modest slob, this sweetheart, having taken the drug of his own production, turned from good into a very evil person. That he does not live, does not sleep sweetly in anticipation of a wedding with a beautiful friend, played by the charming Lana Turner. The heroine's dad is not poor again. Everything. I don't wanna live. Live and rejoice. Nope. We need to go to the zucchini, see Ivy Pietersen there, and walk this cat home. And then, Amba, take the medicine and come to the beauty for her innocent soul. Ivy, by the way, plays Ingrid Bergman. This Swedish celestial, the embodiment of sensuality and lust, the queen of sin and vice. How can you tell Mr. Hyde, the man Dr. Jekyll turns into, to stand before such beauty? Impossible. It's totally impossible. The flywheel of evil is spinning, the merry-go-round of meanness is gaining its momentum and now the bride is on the side, good deeds for and for the benefit of humanity there. All we have to do is wait for the finale of this sponge.
I love actress Katherine Hepburn endlessly. But here's what I want to say. Who knows how the film would have turned out if the producers had listened to the opinion of Spencer Tracy and Catherine Hepburn was invited to play Ivy Petersen. I guess the movie would have been pretty good. On the other hand, it could be the fact that the film involved a woman not loved in life Spencer Tracy, allowed the actor to show his best professional qualities because he was angry at the producers and reflected it on the screen. But that's just a guess. As they say, a different story.
I want to end with the words from the song of Igor Talkov:
- Satan's tired of walking! Candles go out, ball is over!
