Uncomplicated plot, which has three angles ... yes, all the same banal, eternal triangle: husband - wife - mistress ... it all began with him.
Beautiful and very beautiful girls, a "gray" kind of guy-simpler and a status polished upstart, a little funny, and maybe ridiculous situations in which the characters get into, humor - kind and easy - in dosed quantities and only a few times will allow you to smile ... of such components, this film is cut and presented to the Viewer. A story without pathos and claims to a masterpiece. The story is not bright at all, but rather even pale in emotion and is unlikely to linger in memory. And this despite the well-known cast and a very good performance of actors. I will highlight, perhaps, Christine Scott Thomas – the role is almost episodic, but it is impossible not to pay attention to her character, she is magnificent in every scene and extremely organic with her character.
The film is an average, a one-time film, a film to pass an hour or two ... such an “assessment” for a French cinematographer, of course, is a minus. The French can do better.
I also believe that this love from childhood turned into a mania. Who were we in love with in school, but could we love them as adults? Having met such a beautiful, intelligent and kind girl as Elena, Francois had to open his eyes, especially since Elena was associated with a scoundrel, and would hardly be happy with whom, even if he divorced his wife. This love for the seller of books, especially with such a bitchy character, is somehow not plausible.
What's their future? Judge for yourself: she is sharp, with inflated conceit, always climbs on the scandal. François is a rather proud type and will hardly tolerate the oppression of his wife for long. On the contrary, the top model Elena is especially soft, because she is smart (remember how she literally babysits Francois, persuades him or asks, and clearly outplaying him in intelligence). Here's a beautiful example of a smart and beautiful wife - you're cute, consider yourself in charge, and I'll do it my way anyway, so you won't even notice. Well, with whom will he live happier and, not least, wealthy? Especially since he liked Elena terribly, she is just stunningly beautiful, and you have to be an idiot to refuse such a girl. That's the reality of life!
Remember Pierre Richard in He Begins to Be Angry, that is the truth of life. And here's one fantasy, nothing more. In general, I liked the film. All the main actors played great, and the second plan too, especially I liked my friend François, such a harmless and funny guy. The doctor is not bad either, but he is irritated by his arrogance, which is a plus for the actor, and his task was precisely to show in short scenes the selfish essence of this doctor.
It's shit. Having both a lover and a wife at the same time.
When I get tired of watching Hollywood comedies full of sarty humor, I start looking for the likes of "Dubler." I really like French comedies. They are distinguished by sincerity, kindness, ease, really funny jokes, and most importantly their dignity, in my opinion, they are not vulgar.
The plot of the film is simple: Rich Pierre Levacer (Daniel Otoi) tries to hide the mistress of the model Elena (Alice Taglione) from his wife Christine (Christine Scott Thomas). And gives a random passerby François (Gad Elmaleh) Pignon her fiancé instead of himself. Elena and Francois are forced to live together, and play lovers, and what will come out of this, we will see.
Play actors are very sincere, good-natured faces cause sympathy for each character, even negative ones. The characters in the film are so different, they are shy, grumble, swear, smile, but most importantly they love. Each image is worked out to the smallest detail. The dialogue sounds natural and humorous.
Others are not interesting to me, only idiots around who have only one thing in their head.
- If we lie down a little longer, I'll turn into an idiot too.
The work of the operator: the film is shot without bright colors, the colors are muffled, in warm colors this once again emphasizes the soulfulness of the film.
France is synonymous with the word love, we are shown sunny streets, open cafes, gave a look at the fashion show, the warm season makes the film atmospheric and warm. Separately, I want to pay attention to the design of apartments: it emphasizes the financial situation of the heroes and puts them in contrast.
Music: Most scenes are performed without musical accompaniment. But for the emotional tone of some scenes, the music is still there and it is selected perfectly.
The costumes are perfectly suited for each hero. François’s indecision and shyness reflects his clothes in gray, white, beige: calm tones such as his character. Elena’s clothes are mainly miniskirts, this emphasizes her slimness she is a model. The girlfriend of the main character is the complete opposite of Elena and the image of her is calm, this is a T-shirt and pants, and her hair is taken in the tail. Friend and neighbor Francois is not independent and this is reflected in his appearance.
Each character complements the other, as a result, a sincere love story was obtained.
For all lovers of good movies, be sure to watch.

François Pignon is certainly a character forever associated not only with Francis Weber but also with Pierre Richard. When I started watching ‘Dubler’ & #39, I kept thinking how great Richard would look if he were still young enough in 2004! But at some point I realized that I had already seen Richard in this role. Only the film was made 30 years before 'Doubler' and was released at the box office under the title 'He starts to get angry'. Yes, Richard does not play a parking lot, but an extremely shy math teacher at a women's college, and the fatal woman is not a model, but a movie star (Jane Birkin), but these details do not change much. And there's a jealous bride, and the same paparazzi, and the sudden transformation of a boring little man into a press-glorified sex giant.
A significant detail - the old film was not shot by Weber, and his compatriot, Claude Zidy. It seems that Weber decided to make a variation on this old theme. It turned out, I must say, good, but still secondary. And it's not as funny as the Ziddy movie. In addition, the hero of the newer film is impeccably faithful to the bride, the charms of the super-beautiful do not lend themselves to - which can not be said about the character of Pierre Richard. Probably, this is ' correction' the main character still can not be called correct.
"Doubler" is a romantic film with a claim to "think"
What can I say about this film?
First of all, it occurred to me that I love French films. I haven’t seen many French films, but the ones I’ve seen seem more alive and more intimate than Hollywood melodramas.
This was the first thought after watching the movie “Dubler”.
Everything as it were, make this film Hollywood: "Initially, our heroes - Francois and Elena would not like each other, but in the process of communication would understand how wrong in each other, and how they like and fit each other." Moreover, our heroes were offended by their loved ones – and they would thus express their “fi” in relation to the offenders and “revenge them”, remaining in the end together. How different is this French film? He showed us that you can always be a person, no matter who you are by profession. Showed us how important it is to stay true to yourself, if you are true to yourself, then you can have that lucky chance that will help make all your dreams come true. That's what happened to François. In the end, he stayed with his love, made a good friend, and continued to live. He can happen to a variety of events in life, but I think he will always remain decent and honest with himself and his loved ones.
I would also like to mention the secondary characters - they are a bit eccentric - but it is so nice to look at these different and eccentric characters who do not look like the standard entourage of the main characters; they are different: grumpy, strange, a little disappointed, finding an outlet in a variety of things (in the doctor who is sick more clients, in caring for loved ones, in care, in love for strange (to the conventional view) personalities). It seems to me that it is more like those people who can be seen in their surroundings, if you look at them, and how easy it is to pass by, if you judge the people around you from the point of view of the picture of the ideal world that popularized cinema gives us.
The negative characters in this film are not the traditional Barmaleans, but the people who made the choices that led them to the outcome they ultimately got. It all ended the way it ended. If you had made a different choice, the movie would have ended differently.
I got some serious feedback, but it shows that simple things can have important implications, and that simple stories can have a big impact on people's lives. But you can just watch this film; laugh in places, forget in places, at some moments snuggle up to your loved one, with whom you are watching the film, and at the end of the viewing, fall asleep in this evening with a good mood. This film is quite suitable for such a scenario.
A great movie from the master Francis Weber with a whole scatter of stars, if not world, then European level: Gad Elmaleh, Daniel Otay, Virginie Ledouyen, Christine Scott Thomas and absolutely charming Alice Taglioni. A beautiful and elegant story that true love will resist any temptation.
The main character, Parker Pignon, gets into an almost fairy tale story: for some time he will live with a supermodel and pretend to be her boyfriend. 90% of fans of American comedies would give a sequel: they fall in love and happy fly to the Canaries, Hawaii, Fiji, no matter, in a word, to heaven. But the French solve this problem quite differently: a truly loving person does not need even a supermodel if his heart is already given to the modest saleswoman from the bookstore, whom he loves since childhood. Therefore, the characters will be able to save feelings and help each other in a difficult situation.
The tape is light, cute, though uncomplicated. This is a romantic comedy for family viewing. Don’t get embarrassed by low-grade humor or a vulgar scene. You won't regret it!
We all know that director Francis Weber is an amazing master of the comedy genre. Who hasn’t seen “Runaways,” “Unlucky,” “Toy,” “Daddy”? Of course, his star works are those in which Pierre Richard and Gerard Depardieu participated, but in the film “Dubler” the director shows that he was, is and will be one of the best directors of the comedy-melodramatic genre.
It is professionalism as a screenwriter that puts Weber on such a level. The stories of this director are always distinguished by their at first glance simplicity. But as they say, “all genius is simple.”
And that simplicity is only superficial. For example, I was amazed when the twist of the plot occurred 2! minutes before the end of the film. This is for Aristotle!
The story may not be of instructive depth. But it looks in one breath. Like most Frenchmen, Francis Weber is an impressionist by nature. Here are the movies coming out easy.
And what is very important, this helps the work of the operator and the installer: the installation itself is almost invisible, the transitions of the camera are very smooth.
Finally, I want to note the beauty of actress Alice Taglioni, who in principle does not shine in masterpiece films, but firmly keeps herself in light roles. Very charming and lovely.
French It's a boring French-style comedy. An uncomplicated plot, slow-moving events, gray ordinary characters, actors who do not stand out. Humor consists in “playing” everyday situations from life. It's funny in places, it's tense in places. In general, you can look at the average. 5 out of 10 Original
