There are many beautiful and gentle things in the world, but it is already known that the greatest impetus for inspiration is suffering. It is proved that negative emotions affect a person much stronger than more pleasant, but weaker ones in terms of shocking love, friendship or motherhood. Therefore, it is quite natural that people who are struck by murder, terrorism or some other negative story express their feelings in cinema, literature, creativity, etc. Or do they think they will be successful?
I do not know what category can be attributed to director John Webb, who decided to film a real case of a brutal murder that shocked decent America. People were shocked not only by the massacre, but by the fact that the murder in general did not make any sense, but was absolutely the Future of Glorious America - teenagers. The suspects were taken quite quickly, and during the interrogation they began to say amazing things. . .
The intrigue generated by the description of the film prompted me to watch, which I soon regretted. First of all, I personally wanted to have some kind of analysis - who were these guys, especially Rod, why did it happen that instead of a normal life they preferred to wander around idle, drinking each other's blood? However, I saw a dry statement of the facts and exact adherence to police protocols. Why make a film when there is a documentary? When it comes to the real story, we know the ending. It was possible to soften spoileriness to give a little author's vision. Second, I immediately realized that they were not vampires, but degenerates. For the rest of the film, I watched them do what they did, and I was really annoyed that they were pretending to be some special person, in fact being just a bunch of teenagers protesting against society, as teenagers usually do; only their way was beyond the bounds. I also wore crosses and black, bred pseudo-philosophy and hung out with questionable friends, but it never occurred to me to arrange urine.
Actors. How do actors play? If you consider that most of the main characters are young people, then they play quite acceptable, but almost all of them are forgotten immediately after watching. It is not surprising, because their characters look purely decorative - they did not try to reveal, animate them, just according to police reports there were so many people and they were so-and-so. What can be squeezed out of this mean description? I don’t understand the sighs and aches about Drew Fuller’s brilliant play. Yes, the fans are thrilled, and I didn’t see the deep and frightening image that they came up with. There were a couple of moments when he looked mysterious, but to see in this teenager a vampire or at least a person with the attractive power that gathered around him the whole gang – no, fire.
I also remember music, of course, from a heavy repertoire, what else can teenagers listen to when they do these things? Simple background sound, which also quickly erased from memory.
I would recommend the film to the ardent fans of Drew Fuller, as here it is seductively young, and there are many, as well as those who are interested in films about real murders, but who are not afraid of the dryness of the material presented. I would recommend something else to others.
