'A Million B.C. 2' It often happens that after the success (usually commercial) of one film, filmmakers are taken “hot on the trail” to create either its sequels or other films, but close to that on the subject. And if we take into account the activities of pirates who illegally sell films to viewers, it also happened that under the guise of another part of the sensational hit, they sold a completely left-wing film. A vivid example of this is the history of the success of militants with Steven Seagal in the early 1990s on videotapes, when sellers without hesitation sold allegedly sequels of “Above the Law” (aka “Nico”), as “Niko-2”, “Niko-3”, etc. (although the characters performed by Seagal in the films “Death in spite”, “Death Marked”, “In the Name of Justice” are always different). So in the case of the hit of 1966 "A Million years BC" it turned out that a couple of years later the studio "Hammer" took up the development of another, but similar to it film - "When dinosaurs reigned on earth"
.
And again, it was based on a very original idea - to make a film about primitive people and living side by side with dinosaurs and other prehistoric monsters. And again, the viewer sees the beauty in bras and underwear made of animal skins, and primitive men - shaggy and unshaven, but white-toothed. There is even a legend that the film was invented only after a poster was drawn, on which a woman in a prehistoric setting adorned. Even Fabulously, "When..." repeats "A Million BCE" in many details, which in my opinion makes the 1970 film secondary. The only thing that catches your mind when watching the picture is the change of sex of the main characters. Now the plot "When the Earth reigned dinosaurs" revolves around a girl Sanna (Victoria Vetri), who, having avoided death in one tribe, will fall in love with a man from another tribe, and then escape from there. And plus, in the finale of the heroes will wait for another natural disaster - tsunami. Overall, these two films look like brothers. Which, in fact, seems to be true, given the fact that the studio-producer they have one.
Among the features of the picture, I would attribute the appearance of a voiceover, “translating” to the audience what the characters say. And even though their speech became articulate, the vocabulary remained scarce. And so this explanation was, if not a plus, then a feature of the picture.
As for the creatures themselves, here, unfortunately, there were not so many of them, compared to “A Million years BC”. And the quality of the combined shooting remained at about the same level as in the tape in 1966.
So I don't think it's anything other than going into the same river, and I don't see the situation with "When the Dinosaurs Reigned." Therefore, the same success tape failed to achieve. I'm sorry.
