Bloody Gingerbread Man or how dangerous it is to fall in love with waitresses Psychological thriller "Leshy", shot by drama master Robert Altman in 1997 based on the story of John Grisham, is considered one of the most underrated and thoroughly forgotten paintings of the 90s. The film for some reason was put into limited release, although all the conditions for high box office at the film was.
1. Screenplay. On the one hand, the film is a typical story about a femme fatale, a waitress Mallory (Ambeth Davidz), who frowns on the successful lawyer Rick (a very unexpected role of Kenneth Branagh). On the other hand, the picture is a strong drama, in the center of which is Mallory herself and her sectarian father (a brilliant performance of Robert Duvall), a complex relationship with which is the cornerstone of all the intrigue of the picture.
2. Actors. As always with Robert Altman, the film has a great cast. In small roles lit up Daryl Hannah, Tom Berenger, Faumka Janssen and Robert Downey Jr., because the viewer will enjoy the excellent acting.
3. Directing. Robert Altman proved with this film that he is quite capable of making genre films, observing all the laws inherent in this thriller. The eerie soundtrack of Mark Aishem, the unusual camera work of Gu Changwei and the skillfully created atmosphere will deliver many pleasant minutes to fans of thrillers.
“Lesha” is a strong and quite interesting thriller of 1997, capable of striking any moviegoer.
